nehra's inclusion should be subject to way he bowls in ODIs ...if he looks offcolor..we should go with young munaf...bahutule cana ct as cover for a not so fit kumble..i am fine wit they trying out parida too......murli kartik desrves another chance.. am sure would come on his own in freindly pitches in pak..batting..well top 6 choose themselves...

So far so good. Two excellent cricket matches for the viewers. I definitely feel india has to go in with 5 regular bowlers and 6 batsmen ( dravid will double as wicket keeper). In all probability laxman has to sit out. In this pitches and with the bowling arsenal available with india this strategy can be the ultimate saviour.

ya gr8 start to the series...all the hype has been worth it i guess...well as far as how india is taking it.....i can talk about a few places for which i have so first information reports 8)...bangalore we have those pubs/resturants putting up large screens/tv for watching thw match and 5 star hotels also coming up with schmese where people can come in and  watch...delhi....it seems it reminded people of diwali the way crackers where burst after the famous indian win...and roads were strangely empty by delhi standards...as far people taking it...well people defintly r looking forward to it but less of jingoism attached to it..ofocurse all tht can change very soon if we lose 4-1...everyone wud be baying for ganguly's blood unfortunately...but as of now everyone is taking it sportingly..treating it as a big series but not acting as if life as they know it would come to a stands till if india loses..hope tht spirit stays....lets hope the boys in blue keep rocking... 8)

Just thot of sharing this mail with you all guys and not to start any controversial topic. So, here it goes............
==============================================

An email from Sai Nagesh to Mindshare after his visit to Pakistan for
the 1st one day match.

Subject: Pakistan

Folks,

This mail has nothing to do with work. just wanted to share certain
very overwhelming experiences. Had been to karachi for the 1st one
dayer on saturday.

1. Imagine 39,990 Pakistanis & 50 of us Indians cheering lustily 'for'
each other, throwing chocolates at us !!. Quite a few were carrying
the flags of both countries imaginatively stitched together. Then they
all stood to give a standing ovation to the Indian cricket team !

2. Guy on the street selling 'bhuttas' refused to accept money saying
that we were 'mehmaan' in their country !!

3. people rushing to shake our hands on the streets & asking us to
come to their home for dinner

4. Restaurant owners refusing to accept the bill payment after coming
to know that we were from India

5. Everybody we met & we met quite a few, had some relative staying in
India.

6. Star plus is the most favourite channel in Karachi

7. There was a TV star called Heena ?? who was sitting in the stadium,
one pakistani put up a impromptu banner saying "heena, will u marry me
?"!!

8. Shops gave us 40 to 50% discount ...........India again

9. Taxis, autos, army guys......the list is endless.......everywhere
loads of courtesy, respect..... more than we would get in our own
country !!!!!

It is really sad that we have an impression of that country that is so
negative. I shudder to think of the plight of pakistanis who would
come to india when the Indo-pak matches will happen here. Sad, that we
consider ourselves 'secular' & yet will spare no thought before making
negative statements on that country. It's sad but true , this experience teaches one that......"Perception is not reality".

Thank u for sparing your time.
Have a lovely day.

Warm Regards

What you experienced in pakistan is all fine.

Having seen india in their country after 14 years, the paks are excited.  Any negative reaction from the country towards the member of public or the cricket team would halt future matches.

But would you  have been treatd in that same respect if you were to tour there at another time than during the tour of the indian cricket team?

I somehow don't see it...

hi asim, I honestly believe Pakistanis are more friendly than us when it comes at the personal level. These people are more proud than us for their dariya dili and mehman-nawzee. So, who ever has visited Pakistan from India, right from Khushwant Singh to Sai Nagesh, has come back only with good memories, friendly gestures and bunch of relationships. I don't deny the fact that there are lots of half-witted, half-intelligent islamic fundamentalists but my guts feeling says even most of them would be very friendly when its on personal level, of course better we don't consider those fundamentalist think-tanks in this list whose mind-set are really corrupt and poisoned. And if you say other time can we expect the same warmth, don't you feel we (indians and pakistanis) consider this cricket as mini-war and this is the period when we should have highest enmity ?

well said....we won...and lets celebrate....and not get into this debate... :-X...it was one man's opinion on his expereinces in pakistan...so lets learn to accept diffrences and thrive in them as a country as we done for ages...rather exhibit this new found intolerence for anythin "diffrent"..
as far as the match..gr8 show in the field..the times we have come to....293..and we feel we have restricted the opposition..but still have to commend the guys.....ganguly does stand exposed with his limited resources...not much he can do to surprise the pakis...jes one card trick..a strong batting lineup...and a prayer on his lips tht they deliver...anyone who understands anything abut the game has to acknowldege pakis look a superior more well rounded team than us and theres now ay we r the favourites....in light of the fact we played commendably....hope zzaheer finds his wicket taking form soon..

yes...India won the 4th one....
And in every match we are getting surplus of boundaries and overboundaries. Everybody seems to be tired. Everyday 600-700 runs scored. Bowlers tired, fielders tired, umpires tired (lots of PT),batsman tired, non striker tired...commentators tired (only raise their voice in the slog overs) and we are also tired....
Compare this series to the earlier New Zealand tour....where a boundary means a god......

YES!! WHAT A VICTORY...the team showed all it had been doing for last couple of years has not been a flash in the pan...the level of maturity that the guys have got now along with the obvious talent has just made them respond so wonderufully diffrently then say the team of the 90s....it got into tight situations..was up against a more balanced albeit erratic team but never flinches..to come bk 1-2 from such a crunch situation is trully remakrable..hats of to the guys.,..word of praise for inzamam and moin too....inzamam for showing us a glimpse of his talent and for any genuine cricket lover to think once again..what all this guy could hve done with it had been consistent....and moin for his fine fighting spirt....nearly made 1 billion indian go in tears...but thankfully it didnt happen.......well one had hoped tht aussie tour would be a build up to bigge rn better things..looks like we r on track...
