this is something that has not been mentioned at all in the thread..perhaps we are too obsessed with india club and town club and rongmai united to bother about france or argentina.anyway,we can always make up...i personally go for an argentina vs italy final...from then on we will take things as they come. :) |

Argentina versus Italy final should be a good one if it happens, but in the meantime one of the matches that should be watched for sure is this Friday's clash between Argentina and England.Remember the cracker of a match that these two teams played in the last world cup ?
And I think the Germans need not be taken lightly... |

I think Rivaldo should be punished for faking that injury. However the red card on the Turk (two consecutive yellow cards) is justified for lack of sportsman spirit.
Fifa's disciplinary committee was studying a video of the incident yesterday and will make a ruling later today, which could result in a severe ban and a fine for Rivaldo. |

Aar koto dukkho ditai ?? For once I wish I was in a different time-zone...I think I belong to that very exclusive club of people who have not been able to watch a single match till now...could only manage a few minutes each of 3 matches... I only hope I get too see some of them in the coming days though it seems highly unlikely... Would like Italy to do well nevertheless...couldn't even see Vieri score those 2 goals...what rotten luck !!! :-[ ??? |

Its a relief that they didn't ban him from playing the rest of the matches. That possibility was being talked about till yesterday, and it would have been a severe blow to Brazil's chances of moving ahead. |

So with Argentina and France out .. looks like the winner between Brazil and England are going to lift the cup .. what do you say ?
Germany was boring and unimpressive in thier last match against Paraguay. Italy barely survived through the 1 st stage . Brazil has been impressive ... England was good just in their last match against Denmark ... a Germany v/s England final would be the most boring combination of all !!! :)
Jimut ... the matches here are at 11:30 pm and 4:30 am ... though we can watch it ... but its very tough to stay awake the next day at office .. but now I guess its better than having the matches during the office hours ( like in India) ...

One interesting thing that may happen in this world cup, if Brazil loses to England in the quarter finals, is that for the first time since 1962 onwards, the world cup will not change hands between a South American and European team.It has only happened twice before with Italy winning consecutive world cups in 1934 and 1938 and Brazil winning in 1958 and 1962, otherwise every single time the world cup has changed hands between the Europeans and the South Americans.
Going by history its Brazil's cup, but then history is just the past......

If you have watched the match between Italy and South korea ( I watched it ;D at 4:30 in the morning :o ) , you must been amazed by the speed and stamina of the koreans !!! Now I think the koreans have the potential to beat any team on their day !! I think the Koreans deserved it ( though Totti did not deserve the red card) .. and at the end Italy was playing for the tie breaker ) .. Senegal is ok and turkey is average. And USA will never make it to the finals .. [Brazil or England] Germany Spain SKorea Turkey Senegal USA ... .. in decreasing order of their chances . What do you say ?
Brazil v/s England will be better than the final !! Cheers prem |

------------------------------ The way this world cup is going, I wouldn't really feel confident at predicting anything.Maybe after the Brazil-England match a prediction can be done but as of now I think its the wildest world cup I have ever seen with everyone's fortunes hanging in the bengance. But one thing is for sure that the Brazil-England clash will be a humdinger and as much as I want Brazil to win, I think Owen and Sol may spoil the party.
A semifinal lineup like USA-Korea and England-Senegal cannot be ruled out with a Korea-Senegal final. That would be something, isn't it ?.....although I would prefer a Brazil-Korea final because that would give soccer lovers a treat to Himadri.

The Daily Mirror tabloid newspaper, in a stark comment on England's 36-year World Cup drought, summed up the match's importance to the country when it ran an almost-blank front page.
It contained a small English flag and the words: "This page is cancelled. Nothing else matters". |

What a match it was !!! We will miss Ronaldinho in the semis .. anxious to see him in the final !! Next match its going to be Ronaldo . Weaker defence and Ronaldo is the king.
USA playing better than expected .. they should come home satisfied.. Germany again not such a good performance .. Tonight SKorea and Spain ... Speed Stamina v/s organised play ... Turkey.. Senegal .. good for them they can reach the semis .. one of them .. anyway Brazil is there to send them home !!!
Cheers Prem ;) |

Yes, Ronaldinho was brilliant. His deft move that led to the goal by Rivaldo, was probably the best dribbling in this whole tournament.Brazil will miss him in the semis.
I think Germany's fate is sealed. If they don't lift their game considerably, they will find the Koreans a handful in the semis.I think its going to be a Brazil-Korea final. |

eii dil haain mushkil jeena yahan jaraa hatke jaraa bachke yeahh haain semifinals merii jaann strangely, galatasary...the turkish champions have this tune in their club anthem.... beware brazil...any european team is very difficult to get past...particularly the off limelignt teams...and turkey is no cakewalk...a lot of their players consistently play in the big leagues...so I am sure all the brasil supporters are going to have a few heartwrenching moments during the semifinals ;D ;D ;D my bet still remains...on germany... one on one :) :) |

I think Korea played much better against Italy ... they were lucky to beat Spain yday ... I still think that the referees are more lenient towards the home teams . Spain did not play that well too. Brazil would have been better off with Senegal in the semis . This world cup should be Brazils !!
Just think what will happen if the final is between SKorea and Turkey . I will prefer watching the match for the third position ::)

There hasn't been a world cup before with so much refereeing controversies. The offsides and even the line calls are sometimes simply appalling. >:( The Koreans are really lucky to be in the semis.
Turkey didn't look very dangerous today although they made all those moves into the Senegal box. They may need better finishing against the Brazilians. The problem with the Germans seems to be their inability in playing the possession game.In the match against USA, they just put ten man behind the ball and let the US guys make the initiative. That's so unlike the normal German style of midfield possession and sudden breaks forward.
But anyway if its a Korea-Turkey final I would prefer to sleep well, rather then waking up in the wee hours to watch such a farce. :( |
