Dear Slcharites This is to share with you that all other towns of Assam ( u must be aware of ) - small or big - are in much better shape than SIlchar as far as education is concerned. We r jumping up as Sushovan poddar got 17th position in HSLC. Did u ever compared our result with even small town as Bogaigaon or Tezpur which is much smaller than SIlchar. WHy r u silent about the HS results? This is the time we take this seriously and analyse the truth. Are we lacking talents? Or lacking good teachers or is it a conspiracy against us? No dear friends, I think the problem lies in ourselves, our parents who do not know or have forgotten how to bring up their children. Whenever I come to SIlchar I find this pseudo-highclass parents keeping themselves busy with parties and shopping. And the middle class cant aford to send their children to good schools ( the standard of bengali medium schools has deteriorated). Infact we are digging the hole for us. Every body knows about our teachers and their dedicatioal level. All r just busy with earning money and their social status. This is the time when the young blood shd get involved and educate our parents and teachers!!! sounds funny??? But this can be done. I shall wait for ur opinions regarding this issue. |

My dear friend, I agree to what u think. Though I m not from Silchar but I think that the education level is really going down and there are no means to stop it from going further. Some people of Silchar try to be very social and pretend to be modern but they are not. One cannot be modern by just hanging out or socialising, coz nothing is complete without education. |

The question now is can we roll up our sleeves, plunge into the Silchar education system mess, and change something for better with our western style technology? My answer is yes, it will be possible if the assemese ministers or the Silchar communitites welcome us to do whatever will be best for the teachers and students alike. Maybe, sending the dollars or pounds to the college funds may be encouraging them to do their best in their professional/academic standing. We might employ the brilliant graduates with our pocket money to do something that can be marketable locally or abroad. The college funds are very important source, from which the students can obtain money to cover the expenses for the college tution, books etc. The money may be used to cover the research for something that can be put into the world market. One example is Assemese tea is well-known in Britain. I think the garduates will have the opportunity to learn something about improving the quality of a variety of teas and marketing them aborad if they can. We all know that the students are our foundation on which to build our economy successfully in the future. Again, the question is should we lay back comfortably at home and watching TV, and forget all the problems behind in our homelands? Can't we pay back something we owed to the comminities? |
