Check out http://news.silchar.com .. the SNN the silchar news network. Its a new venture for all of us .. an attempt to provide a medium for Mahaadda users to express our opinion and to portray regional, sports, national and world news the way we want the world to read it.

You can submit news in your own words. It would be great if you post small articles on regional issues and matters. The audience is the world, so we have to be politically correct. Also feel free to submit news of general interest.
I would request all of you to help silchar.com out in this matter. Mail me admin AT silchar.com with your thoughts on this and also PM me or mail me for your own username and password.
Help us out in the first 6 weeks, where we plan to have atleast 6 news item per day and 2 articles per week. The articles will be our thoughts on issues and news items will be the news in our words. I would request everyone to chip in here.
I am sure mahaadda has lot of talent and this project will be a success. So lets give it our best try.
If you think you can do it only if you are paid, still let me know. This is one way I think you can give something back to silchar.com.

Sir, its a good project started..COOL MAN
hERE..one thing i have been thinking for a long...Can't u put "Sree-lipi" or "Ankur-Patrika" software(only the Bengali script/BN001) loaded on the web server...so that one who wishes can write in Bengali lipi/sylheti ..
However,..I m not aware of the feasibility regarding this " writing in Bengali script" ..What do u think boss?.....Also the articles and news items in SNN could then be sent in Bengali .
Hope u'd think on it....

prob with having in bengali font is that we have to type the news in bengali. i m looking for volunteers to help the site out with news.. and we do not have that many volunteers to write even in english script !!

Sorry for sounding pessimistic, but most of the silchar.com users seem to be staying outside silchar. A big, big chunk is staying outside Assam, and a big lot is also staying outside India, I guess. Thats one of the main hurdles in posting news (How do you get to know about whats going on). If you want me to copy and paste from timesofindia.com etc, I can definitely do it, but would that serve the purpose? |

starting in the last week of May we will have someone from Silchar updating local news daily on the SNN.
We would like to see articles from members of the adda about recent happennings that affect our (silchar, bengalis and sylhetis) lives ... Also news reports from our point of view. That would not mean cut and pasting but news of interest to us in our own words. |

Quite out of context here, but has anybody seen the postings in "do we have any identity" thread? Outrageous, to say the least! Can't we do something to stop these comments from flowing in. Or, if they come in at all, use your discretion to remove them? Interference by the maintenance team is required here! |
