bangali chara puja nia aar to keu paglami kore na.....eastern part of india chara baki jayga t je durga puja hoi ita itself ekta news item.
salil choudhri r ekta gaan bachha rar lagia asil.....pujor gondho eseche.....pujor gondho eseche....dhem kurakur.. dhem kurakur baddi bejeche.....gache shiuli futeche....prane bhomra juteche....etc etc.
eastern part of india r baire shei shiuli r o gondho paoa jaina....pujar gondho to durer kotha..puja r iskool chuti takia i to pujar shuru hoito.....pandelo o murti banai hor....pandel o songe banani choler..dekarason...choto karigor ra kartik gonesh lokkhi sorsshoti loia besto aar prodhan karigor babu durga banaiba.
chokku daan ekta bhishon important byapar......shosthi din khub ratre chokkhudaan hoi....aaro hazar jinish...nuton juta..shohor chasha...tarpore paa ofushka...tor shirt koita hoise be....amar to janosni egarota..amaro egarota...amar barota...

Very emotionally charged posting Shaan...are you going to be in Silchar for the Pujas ??

Puja maane...what the heck...in a few hours I'll be in Silchar...yaaaaaahoooooooo !!!!

5 long years since I've been home during Pujas...

Murti banani...chokku daan...kola bou...shoshti...soptomi...oshtomi...nobomi...doshomi...bishorjon...patha boli...shob dekhmu....!!!!!
I've never been part of the Send off Swarup,Hasty Tasty scene during the Pujas...in fact never seen a single Puja in Silchar even...but I'm sure you all will enjoy it one more time...

Really feels good that I'll be part of all that again...and to think of what i've been thru' during the Puja days since 1997 !!!

Anyway...I think I'm one of the privileged few who enjoy a Durga Puja at their own homes...nothing like my ancestral village and the entire house teeming with kakus,jethus, jethimonis, kakimonis, dadas, didis, bhais ( not the mumbaiya version !) and bons...guess I'll have all again...the song, dance, aroti, onjoli, good food, prosaad, drama rehearsals,late nights...

Happy Puja to all of you...and maybe a prayer or two to Goddess Durga for everyone too !!!

I think every bengali is very emotionally attached with Durga Puja and specially gharer ba parar puja.
I am missing puja for the second consequetive year and here in swiss there is not even a hint of it :-[.
I will pass it with nostalgic memories of fasting all morning , anjali , navami'r khichuri ,doler awaj, arati .......going out in groups, dressed in new clothes. I dont't know how we could walk so much on those days specially with new shoes most often :). Every one is so full of energy and joy.

eesh i feel like crying after going through all of your lines.....kene ba kene 'jale pe namak chirakna'.....ikhano firingi itar loge boiya pujar naam gondho porjonto paisi na.....ei loud speaker e gaan chalani....gutar gutar kou aar hai o raaba kou...kuntao sunchi na....onyon somoi oto nostalgic na hoileo ei pujar somoi prithivir sob jaiga thaki mono hoi amrar silchar jeno heaven...... nutan dress poria juta poria rangirkhari ,bilpar thaki suru koria ek loge tarapur er hokkol puja dekha aar tar loge chele rar picha kora ita din bhula jaina...okhon mono hoi ita din jodi abar ghuria aaito.....alas!....aar kita kora jaibo ekla ekla ei bidesh o gobhir suk manani chara aar kichchui korar nai...tumra jara silchor aaso tumrare happy puja aar in advance subho bijoya...bhala thakio hokkol....

but its really sad for those who stay away from home..........
this will be my third puja that 'm not in silchar and will miss my parents frens relatives and MY SWEET SIS SONYA
u know what, its not a'ways that what u want u get it but enjoying puja with near and dear ones after a long time makes the moment more joyous...but here in delhi puja is quite nice with my brothers,sis,and DEVI...WISH U ALL A HAPPY PUJA AND MEET U SOON WITH ANOTHER TOPIC TILL THEN CHEERS

SHAAN - BRILLIANT ! Your thread encouraged me to write few lines. Yes I really feel nostalgic thinking about Durga Puja, I am in England & missing Silchar at this part of the year. I think it is sometimes very difficult to describe your feelings.
Though I am lucky enough to have few Pujas' in & around Liverpool & Manchester. We have a Lakshmi Temple at Edgelane ,Liverpool & people do actively take part to celebrate the 'NAV RATRIS'.

But believe me I will miss the horrific sounds of Public Systems used in our Puja pandals, the crowded streets - ofcourse the wonderful trafffic jams, the young boys & girls in their new attires - maybe all gunning for a .....(here my reason of mentioning about young boys & girls is that by seeing them I can visualize & re-collect my naughty teenage deeds - believe me I was damn naughty maybe my friends who read this might be able to relate ,the Adda we usually have with our Holy Cross batch mates near Shillongpatty. Yes, I will also miss the wonderful special atmosphere that prevails during that time. I ask myself now maybe I could go back to my early naughty good days. But I do accept days have gone by & sometimes now I feel pity on myself, I get very homesick & do ask myself the question ' Does living abroad really compensates you? '

Anways folks ' got to go for some meeting now '

Hope you guys who are lucky enough to be in Silchar during this years Puja have great FUN !

:-*But a guy like me can do nothing other than recalling the past days when we used to enjoy puja in real sense. But now a days , as our friend circle has changed a little bit, few of us get interest in some other things. Some are engaged, having girlfriends, they dont have time for us..... Some are frustrated regarding career or some-way-other.... Almost all of us have lost all the enthusiasm regarding puja. Now we dont find anything special in it.
:-Xbut even then it our tradition....culture....ritual that we have to follow taking our family members under consideration.
though we r frustrated, dejected..."rejected".... or what so ever , we have keep our face smiling B4 them.
At last I'd like end up with a hope that our misfortune, anxiety, depression etc get over in this DURGA PUJA ...bidding a light new ray of hope. :)

:)hi ,everybody out there in Silchar SHUVA BIJAYA to everyone.i never write in mahaadda but as this time 'm in Delhi & missing silchar puja like anything so thought of droppin few lines to my silchar frens.
i did enjoyed my puja in Delhi but silchar ki to baat hi alag hai.Another puja is gone.Dekte dekte aie bochhorer pujao chole gelo.again have to wait for another one year.But ekta jinish aami jeta aiebaar realise korechi aeita hichhe never in my life i would be out of Silchar in Puja.
Thanx silchar.com for providing such a nice logo of Durga in the left korner.Anyways bye .SHUVA BIJAYA

It was a real great feeling after going through the postings spacially from shaan, jimut and "silcharer maiya". I really became nostalgic for a moment despite I was in silchar during navami and dashami. Though, didn't see much of durga pooja during this 2 days but staying with ur family during this time is really a great feeling.

I can remember some one asking about the pooja pendals and idols of goddes durga.

Amar kache poojor decoration okhon ektu ekgheye type er lage. Tai ami pinpoint korte parlam na koonta amar beshi bhalo lagse. Murti koile amar public school er murti ta khub e bhalo lagese ar sonai road er tarun sangha o great. Tobe ei 2 din-e doshomi tai beshi entertaining. I think silchar has changed with time. Now if u see a doshomi procession, U will here all nice nice bengali songs(of course the dance numbers). Jemon eibar "sadher lau", "sohag chand bodoner dhoni". Atmpsphere was really superb and I was the luckiest few who danced with those songs. And most interestingly, local channel(UCN) did a live telecast of dasami procession which is really new to silchar. After coming to house at around 9:30 PM, I saw the program till the end. Nice it was with all those silchari fun.

Ar kita lekhtam. Though I was there in silchar, I feel, I am missing it more than any one else. I hope, next time also, i will be in silchar.

tumar post dekhia bujhlam je tumi nutan nutan hoi coca-cola naile pepsit chakri paiso aar itar lagi luti laitrai...te bhalai through net to aar keure khawaite partai na kajer kaaj koro janiganj aar kollol sanghar pujat tumi free drink dio...manushe puja dekhar loge loge tumar drink khaiya tumare ma kaali'r hoia aashirbad dia jaibo... ;)
