it has been observed ever since i came to this maha adda that most ppl use fake mail ids and get away with it (like i did right now). so dont u think, mr. administrator, that u better make this e-mail field optional, otherwise enforce it properly.
ur site is a pride of our town, so dont let ppl degrade the image of it.

well to some extent you are right....but privacy should always be an option..whether people choose to enforce it or not....i think it should be alright if e mail ids are made optional....the filters are already maddeningly strict about obscenities,genuine or imagined...and further restraint will change this from a mahaadda to something of a rigid classroom where you are not even allowed to speak in sylheti....freedom should always be the primary aim..if problems arise..there are always ways to solve them. |

what filters are u talking about? Does they really exist or are they in theory only? Visit the section--" Assam University--Silchar MBA'rer adda---and go through the postings". How can such obscene postings are allowed?
It is a request to dear administrator--please do something about it---We the people of silchar simply love this site---please enforce some real filters to keep it clean so that like minded people can share their feelings through this great innovation of yours. |

To register you need a proper email id and unregistered members are allowed to specify any email id . At least someone who doesnot have the time to login/register and needs to post a message can do so as a guest and if he wants others to contact him/her can leave a genuine email id. Others who want to remain anonymous can give any id he/she wishes. This field for a guest can be made optional but how does it matter at all.
Talking of filters , its impossible to filter out obscenities. No master of human slang can successfully filter out all words. Yes there are filters in silchar.com but again you see words which have escaped such filters. Moreover sentences cannot be filtered . You can always re-phrase sentences to mean what you want.
The whole point is why do you need to use foul words in this board. If you are a registered member and found to use foul comments I reserve the right to delete your membership. Then again you again can post as a guest and I allow postings as guest to make this board less strict ( and for lots of novice users who can new to the net). If you post a message as a guest and post something which is objectionable chances are that your message might get deleted.
Messages need to be moderated and I do not have the time always to moderate messages... so I welcome all of you to mail me and get yourself as moderators to scan out those odd messages. Moreover every page has a link to report objectionable messages and I get lot of mails and immediately go and delete those messages.

not bad.......sad to see that sylheti is not included in the filter....leaves a lot of room ;) ;).......come to think of it,why should we have filters at all?we would not like it if somebody prevented us from using obscenities altogether in daily life,wouldn we?this should spark a whole new debate....... |

talk sense dude, no filter has any impact on the words that r not in the dictionary including words that r not correctly spelt. so then ur conscience comes into play.
talking of everyday obscenity, kindly specify. and ur anonymity proves that u r ashamed of watever u r posting here. so even that is ruled out. |

firstly,i never wanted to make the point that the filters are all seeing and they will always work..so no point in your unwanted advice of asking me to "talk sense".if you will go through the various threads around,very few obscenities are around,people are not fools you know...most people have that civility ingrained in them.my anonymity is no proof of me being "ashamed"(????)....but merely so that dignity is maintained.i never intended these words as abuse addressed towards someone....and there is nothing to be ashamed of.everyday obscenity is something i refuse to clarify on further..i am sure you are quite capable yourself.if not,never mind.and by the way, i am no dude,so keep that name to yourself. |

dunno wat u mean by everyday obscenity and wat according to u the definition of that, but sounds like u prefer to do everything in public. that was the point baby. we dont always do everything infront of everyone. talking of abusals, i dont think u would like to use those sweet words infront of ur parents. if u do, then i wont drag it further. |

the whole point is filters dont work that well for all words and words which may have more than one meaning.. I have a set of censored words ... but again I cant filter the sentence based on the context the word is used.. eg Srinath should not have balled no many no balls !! Moreover ppul tend to use different spellings and whole range of words... the only way is to ban users and warn them ...
At present I do not plan to disallow guests ... and moreover we should discourage users posting obscene words .. for the past one year obscenity has come down .. if we react a whole lot to those postings they tend to post more of such messages.
As of now please report objectionable messages by clicking on the link on every page and I will delete those messages.
