Hmm...I will be a relative "oldie" from the class of '92.
The School Song suddenly brought back some fantastic memories...
I suggest all of you try this...
Get some privacy...I mean a room where no one is listening...stand up erect and sing the School Song followed by the National Anthem aloud...and then see what happens !! :D
Well...it was 1999...and I was compering a SPIC-MACAY show in Jamshedpur where Sadanam Balakrishnan gave a very interesting Lec-Dem on Kathakali...when the program ended, all the members got on stage and I found myself thrust to the centre of the stage with the microphone before me...seeing that no one was ready to start off, I finally managed to get myself to start " Jana gana mana..." for the first time 7 years. The whole auditorium joined in and as I ended "...jaya jaya jaya he !" I also continued (at roughly the same volume till I just about managed to drag myself away from the mic ) with a long, " Good Mooooorning Miss !!" ;D ;D
That used to be the usual ending to the National Anthem as we all took our seats everyday morning for 12 long years...and even long 7 years, (from the day I last sang at school) did not erase that habit...it came so naturally !!!
Try it...it probably would happen to you as well...

1 Mother Sullivan
2. Sister Margaret
3. sister Donalda
4. sister Audrey
I have very close ties with these nuns ...as a child...but lost touch with them during the war...do let me know if anyone of them can be still contacted....please
We used to have a red song book with cute songs.. like:
1. If you know the train I' m on you will...
2. Make God your guru let him tell you what to do,...
please let me know if anyone recognises these people or songs

i surely remember the songs. But as for the nuns you are speaking about, I am so sorry :(. I do not know any of them. I have heard of Sister Audrey. She was the V.Principal when I was in K.G. (1985). after that i dont know.........

well frends i wud like to disclose a few of my incidents that happned with me in holy cross school.....It was when i was in
2nd standard and i got to meet Sr Ida whom I consider as my most loving teacher...as a kid i was pretty cute and every one used to mess up with cheeks....well i enjoyed the way every one showed up their reaction towards me..During the parents teachers meeting every one told my mother "your son is so sweet"well but i didnt like the way Sr fancy used to show her affection towards me...may be she used to pull my cheeks so hard that that i used to cry and i always to hide whenver Sr fancy came towards me..
during Class IV i still remember when my cousin CHIRANJIV DHAR was told to sing a song by the monitors of the senior class..well he tried to sing "PAPA KEHTE HAI" and the tone came up as if he was reciting a poem...he tried his level best but unlikely his performance was pathetic....Our seniors got angry at him and told him to sing well but he cud not move an ounce of his tongue to take out some sweet voice...that was really awesome we really enjoyed ...and debomita i know you pretty but unlikely no one knows this quite kid(anirban) from holy cross...hope i can renuite old frends through my small attempt in silchar.com

Last dec, when I was at silchar, I visited Holy Cross and was given a small tour of the school by Sister Febronia. The school has changed a lot. The library has come up really well.. there were atleast 20-30 machines. The backfield has been leveled with proper soccer nets. The front field is gone with the acad bld up there. Met Sir Chakraborty in the staff room who told me about his plans to visit US and some other teachers. You guys can checkout the video from the main page of silchar.com (Silchar.com "BDOs" on the top of the page). I have quite a few photos which I didnt upload.
A Happy Band was an ok song ... and everytime I sang the song , I had to start off next with Jana Gana and after that automatically the words "Parade Vishram" :) follow. I had to pray just once in a week ... fridays only :) ... (not that friday was any special religious day:) ... just that fridays we had our "assembly")

yes having something like an alumni association or something similar would be fun...
I remember back in 1998 we at Silchar had organized a get together for the batch of 1993...a full day of fun...
probably other batches have done things likewise...
having an alumni association and a protal perhaps would help people locate each other easily...hope the school comes up with something. |

I am from Sil, a software Engineer . I saw your message staing U working in Churchill. Isn't it the company based in Karamangla, the owner is a sardar and U people work a lot on Oracle. He is a very tough guy, as far as I know and probably U need to do lot of night outs. This was the situation some 4 yrs ago. |

Yeah, it's in Koramangala(Madiwala). and no the ownwer is not a Sikh.Also the work is not as gruelling as u describe...But we do work a lot on Oracle and J2EE 8).

whtz happened with all Crossians ?? No postings on the school room .... Thtz bad considering the fact that about 50% of the ppl living outside Silchar ... logging on to this portal are alumnis of Holy Cross . Hey guys let thy light shine.... So is the alumni meeting really happening ?? and who's organisisng it ? Actually this would be really helpful for the school ... as ex-students can share their experiences with the school authorities ... and bring in a few needed reforms .I guess all ex-students who are by now well settled would be more than eager to help ...

The alumni meet for 2004 is already over! It was in Feb 2004....I was not among the lucky ones to attend it ,though. As for the next year, I hope someone will be able to provide us with some substantial information.
