Mobile/Cell phone services are starting in silchar in a month or two. It seems tomorrow is the last date for registration. The first group of activation will start with 2000 accounts.
Does anyone know what exact technology is being used? Heard its CDMA. But details will be great !!

Could u plz tell us who be the service provider 'd b... only BSNL or the private player will also b seen there....

Hi! everybody!!!
True silcharite by heart and soul, its a really dream come true for every silcharite, cell phones in silchar---ringtones here and there,.
Just FYI---- if its BSNL and most likely it is so-- and if its WLL service, It will be CDMA---- Code Division Multiple Access, an advanced technology over the normal GSM mobile phones used everywhere. Again if its the normal Cell services, i.e. Cell One, thyen it will be GSM services in silchar. Heard that Airtel has also obtained license for Assam, so just wait and watch. More to come.
Any way, whatever it is it is Fantastic.
Actually working with Reliance Infocomm Delhi., the largest CDMA mobile operator in India, so thought of putting in some inputs.
Catch u with some more detais, sometimes later.

this is his massage pls read this massage and reply him:-
"" I came to know that mobile service is going to be started in Silchar. Can u tell me the coverage area. Which service provider will come first. I originally belongs to Hailakandi. Now i got a job in Afghanistan in a Multinational company. If possible give me some idea about the coverage area of the upcomming mobile network in Silchar.

Hello Everybody,
Its good to hear that BSNL is starting its Mobile Services at Silchar within a Month. Presently no private players are being given license for the North Eastern States except Guwahati & Shillong where Reliance has its GSM Services.
The technology which BSNL is going to use for its Mobile Services at Silchar will be GSM.

yes the cell phone service has started. reception within the town is fine ... though from rec onwards service is not so good. |
