YAHOO GROUPS BLOCKED

Recently, all the Indian ISPs have been asked by the Deptt. of Telecommunication to block the url http://groups.yahoo.com. The letters, sent to the ISPs, have been signed by Mr. Jayant Kumar, Dir. Gen., DoT. This has been done to stop users from joining or viewing the HNLC (an extremist org frm Meghalaya) group page. What do you folks think abt it? Isn't it a case of violation of freedom of expression? I have come to know that the DoT has more sinister plans of banning all instant messaging tools like Yahoo and MSN messengers also. Its high time that all should stand up and protest in unison. |

Only one idiom comes to mind. "Mosha marte kaman daga".
I read the thread in question at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kynhun . Nothing but a crap. Normally nobody would have given a "rats ass" about what they do. If you see the number of messages per month, it has spiked lately. Earlier they used to have 2 messages per month. This month there are 25 messages! Most messages are from people who are curious about the group. Even though I despise these thugs like HNLC, I don't think it is right to rob us of our freedom of expresson. |

The fun about the thing is it's blocked ...booooooooom...
You get a 504 gateway error if you try to go there from India. :-X :-X :-X
The happy thing is there's a way out ... in case you reallly want to read the messages. I haven't found out how to login for posting messages and for memberships and downloads etc.

Go to http://www.anonymizer.com/ and type http://groups.yahoo.com in a textbox provided at the top.... boooooooom ......... you go!

u can move to www.proxify.com & can then access the yahoo groups by typing the url of the group....its a free service but its little slow......happy surfing :) 8) 8) |

Come on Guys, Give it a break. If there is an effort by the Goverment to stop users from joining or viewing the HNLC (an extremist org frm Meghalaya) group page, then why dont we support that. Why do we need to hack and find some way to get to there? Cant we live without doing some kind of sh** like this? Is this yaho group so necessary in our everyday life that we cant live without it? |
