I just like to bring this topic for discussion. Why do our parents seek out fair skin brides for their sons? Is skin colour everything? What’s wrong with brides with darker complexion? If every Groom parents seek fair skin brides, what would happen to darker skin women? This is complety wrong!
What parents should look for is quality of that person rather then the colour and I personally prefer woman with a darker complexion.

Well,
Its personal choice.If someone wants fair and Beautiful bride and can successfully get it.It is his credit.
Some girls too are crazy for Beautiful Boys.
If you prefer dark complexioned wife,go ahead,that is absolutely fine.
The fact is I see most top Executives wife are not beautiful or fair.

anyway ... if you see the discrimination outside india based on color of skin, you will not think of joking about it. india is still pulling the yoke of britsh occupation and "white is beautiful" is popular concept, to say the least. did you read tolkien's "lord of rings"? all that is black is bad and all that is white is good. not trying to nullify a good literary work - but, the drift is there.
personally, i think anyone who goes by skin color is an idiot of first order. |

havent really read it through...but isnt there a brown wizard as well besides the white gandalf and the black saruman?perhaps we are better suited to be his chelas.btw,in 'fellowship....'saruman is always wearing white..and he is supposed to be the dark side.... |

:) :) in part two, gandalf becomes "Gandalf the White" ... taking the "White" adjective off from Saruman. So, "White" is added to the "good guy".
Also, note "the Dark Lord", the Black Tower in "The Two towers" (Saruman dwells in the Black Tower) .... the dark nazguls, the black orcs, the black horses of the RingWraiths, the white elves, .. Minas Morgul .. Cirith Ungol ... the list goes on :) :) good work of imagination, with zebra stripes ;) ;)
but, i enjoyed reading the books and like that gollum character :) :) reminds me of someone i know ;) |

right... :)...i have been looking in vain for the book for about 6 months now..cant really afford the 395/ edition..its never available at the library..and those friends that do have it refuse to part for fear of not having it back.... :)....
however,i recently had to go through a lot of old english literature..runes,beowulf,germanic legends..the whole hog.tolkien,of course,was a dead sucker for this sort of stuff...professor of old english at oxford after all.what strikes you immediately is how similar the concepts really are...... |

looks still in this day and age beleive that dark colour is associtated with evil. These people should be sent back to the dark ages! How come Kajol became top actress, if her colour is associated with evil? There are other qalaties besides the skin colour that parents should look for. Not all fair skin women are beautiful! |
