What is the worst movie you have ever watched?
«on: 04/02/05 at 11:37:53 »

Ever watched a movie that is a disgrace to celluloid? I have a few to recommend. Stay away from them. I have become an avid movie watcher lately since I subscribed to B4U and HBO/Cinemax etc. Earlier my assumption was that soppy tollywood or b-grade bollywood movies have that unique distinction. But after watching Kangpaw and Freddy got fingured I have changed my mind. We should not deprive these two movies of their due. These are the worst movies ever made.

I'm too embarrassed to even admit I watched them...that too in a theatre...but 2 films are tops ( or bottoms)  in my list :

1. Quaid mein hain bulbul.
2. Janam samjha karo.

Most of the hindi commercial cinemas these days  fall in this category but wanted to bring "Jaani Dushman" into the limelight. Still wonder what made the guys direct/produce the movie and about the actors?????????

Insanes are found elsewhere other than the asylum ;D

Two more movies in the list are,

(1)DIL NE JISE APNA KAHA.(I knew that the function of heart in our body is to pump blood but the movie shows something else ::).) I always disliked Salman Khan and this movie has bolstered the feeling ;).

(2)ROG-If someone is planning to watch it,then I will plead him/her not to.It will prove to be a torture on your senses ;D.

Guys,  I am glad I did not watch almost any of these movies.  But HAHK is an exception. My wife liked it so if I don't write a rebuttal,  I may have to cook myself and sleep on the sofa. You know what, I neck knows, that sofa is not very confortable. ;D
I am sure your definition of "worst" would change once you watch the movies I have listed.
To make the matter worse for me, I went to watch Kangow with my boss! ??? I was the one who suggested the movie. :-[ No wonder I had to do a lot of Q&A documentation s%$# next week.

I actually could not understand how Varma related the theme of this horrible movie with Vastu Shastra ::).
In his attempt to make a horror movie he failed and I wonder which category does the film fit in.
Perhaps Confused started this thread just to categorise this type of films ;).

Stuntman !! The worst movie one can watch in a movie theatre !!! Remem the song "Amma dekh tera munda bigda jaye". College days ... paid for the ticket and the first movie when i had to convince the gatekeeper to let me out before the intervals :) (one more was Yaarana .. the madhuri dixit one )

I personally think Rog was ok.. (not gr8 but not sooo bad either) .. HAHK also was ok .. KKKG was pretty good too .. all these 3 movies had good songs ... and that provided the relief all thru !!

For those who didnt like KKKG, what abt VeerZaara .. esp after 30 yrs in prison when SRK is declared innocent .. and with Preity sitting in the first row of the court waiting for SRK .. SRK goes ahead and recites a 5 min poem !!!!!! Long live bollywood !!!

KungPow is one movie which is watchable for first 15min... absolute filth ... but creative ;-) What they did was took clips from old martial arts movies and planted a white guy into it as the hero ... and made a big bad parody out of it !!

One more irritating movie was Aks ... first 30mins was brilliant ... Amitabh never looked so stylist b4 but then ... it collapsed like the indian batting ...

Lets talk of the worst movie you saw ... not bad movies ... worst movies are definitely a class apart ..

One more movie in this special class was "BOOM" !! You need to a super Genious to take bigB, jacky and 3 beautiful models and make such a movie !! Disgusting to such an extent that you just cannot watch it !!!

2. Kabhi khushi kabhi Gam

I guess, the list is everlasting and ever increasing.  ;D
As somebody said, sometimes you don't really remember the name of the movie. I watched this piece of crap that I don't even remember. I think Anil kapur and Juhi were in the lead role. So, the story goes like this, Anil portrays a very violent man who violates a woman on the day her marriage. Then the woman embarks on a mission to reform that man and possibly marry him. I got so pissed that I left the theater in the middle of  movie. What type of  Jackass makes such a movie?

I have not watched BMJ. I think I was in HS fiinal year when that movie was a big hit. I was resolute enough not to watch it. Remembered a real life experiience regarding this movie. I went to Sonai to a friends place after HS. On my way back I was humming the song "Beder meye josna amay kotha diyeche...". It was very tough to resist you know. Everybody was playing that song. In the mean time two little kids passed by me. One said to the other .."e beder maiya ogu koto gu re kotha disoin be?"  ;D This incidence still makes  me Chuckle.
The Hindi movies that mithun da has made in last ten hours are wastage of celluloid. I do catch them occasionally on B4U or Zee Cinema. But you know, remote control is a good invension. One example how technology improves your life ;D

Worst movies? I just came to know that there is a parallel award to the Oscars for the worst creations in Hollywood. A couple of famed receipients were Indecent Proposal (worst movie of the year... Sob, sob, Demi Moore and Michael Douglas are eternal favourites), Madonna (worst actress, could not agree more), Michael Jackson (worst music, right decision). But they present these awards (!) are given only to the acclaimed persons and movies. A few of bollywood entrants would be:

1. Maine Pyar Kiya (Girls would never agree).
2. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (Girls would not agree on this too).
3. Kamasutra (Boys would never agree  ;D)
4. All Amitabh Bachchan movies between Sharaabi and Agnipath.
5. All Mithun movies except Agnipath, and a couple of Bengali ones like Tahader katha etc.
6. All Sanjay Dutt movies before Gumraah (remember it? The movie was very nicely paced).
7. Most of the Sunny Deol movies except a few like Damini and Ghayal and Border. Especially the ones which portray aimless patriotism.

There are a lot more. Those will come by the next post.

If you want to watch Hindi films just make sure you leave your brains in a safe place otherwise you may find that after watching the film you have lost your head, and your brains too. ;D

Deviating slightly, all the serials on tv now have the same credentials.  | am quite sure that Ekta Kapoor, the major producer of serials on all major digital channels has either lost her head or her brains are transported elsewhere in the universe.  ???

My sister-in-law a recent migrant from Karimganj was overwhelmingly, praising the serials on tv.  Did you watch this didibhai ?, did you watch that ?!  I asked her what it was that she liked about the serials.  She replied, I love the sarees, the make up and decor of the houses.  She was unable to grasp the story as she wasn't much interested in the story.  But she wasn't the only one.  Perhaps, for those fashion and beauty lovers Ekta must be doing a good job.  But for a boring person like me, who likes to live in the real world Indian visual entertainment is just a waste of money and time.

Besides, I have a very bad memory, if I leave my brain in a safe place ( not that I have much of a brain) I may not remember where I left it. ;D

There's more to it, didibhai. Your mail though does not say anything explicitly, yet reading between the lines I got a hunch that you meant to say that Hindi movies and soaps are in bad taste, and people who enjoy them are out of their senses.
That, I guess is too harsh a statement to make, one of the reasons being that different people may have different tastes, and it is quite harsh to try and impose your thought process on them. Very true that you may not like these movies and soaps, but please do not undermine the lesser mortals who may find pleasure out of them.
I, for myself, always consciously stay away of the K-soaps by Ekta Kapoor... but make sure I never ridicule my Mom for watching them so closely (its her decision after all. And she in turn, never ridicules me when I root for Manchester United playing against Arsenal)

“Tipple a day keeps the reaper away”
By Jonathan Leake,  Science Editor, The Sunday Times.  Email <Jonathan.Leake@sunday-times.co.uk>

{ Published in The Times Of India,  Hyderabad, some times in March 2005}

Get ready for a tipple of your  favorite  medicine. One of the biggest studies into drinking has  found that wine, beer and even a daily tot of whisky can lengthen your  life and protect the body against the   diseases of ageing.
Scientists have found that regular but moderate consumption of alcohol by the middle-aged can protect  against  some of world's biggest  killers, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, osteoporosis and  Alzheimer's disease.

The effect of up to two drinks a  day for women and three for men  is so marked that some researchers believe that middle-aged people should  treat alcohol like a dietary supplement.

"The results show that alcohol can be good for your health provided you adopt a careful drinking  style," said Prof  Morten Gronbaek from the Centre for Alcohol Research in Denmark .
"Age-related diseases like thrombosis take a long  time  to develop but alcohol seems able  to delay it by years."

In his study, to be published in the British Medical Journal, Gronbaek monitored 57,000 Danes, aged 55-65, to find links between their drinking   habits and death rates. He found that people who drank a little often had a significant reduction in mortality. Such drinkers will live up to several years longer than heavy drinkers or teetotalers.

Blood tests showed that alcohol was reducing the blood levels of harmful cholesterols and increasing the levels of beneficial high-density lipids.

Alcohol also reduced blood's tendency to form clots, a crucial factor in  strokes and heart attacks. However, both benefits disappeared in heavy drinkers.

This is supported by a second study by Alun Evans, professor of epidemiology at Queen's University in Belfast, who believes he has solved the so-called French  paradox  -the ability of the French to thrive on relatively large amounts of red wine and other drinks at levels known to increase heart disease elsewhere.
                                                   The  Sunday Times.

Hey brothers !

I had generalised my thoughts slightly.  But, I stand by my opinion.  This does not mean I am ridiculing anyone.  However, there is a question of mature entertainment. Hindi cinema and private TV by enlarge does not produce quality entertainment.  I have been a film goer in my teens but I can't help growing up.  I do watch films now and then, and recenty I watched 'Kaal' and 'Black'.  Both were thought provoking films and the absence of non-sensical singing and dancing made it all the more watchable. Don't ge me wrong, I love music, but not when a doctor or a police officer starts bouncing and moving his lips as soon as he sees a girl, pathetic! :o.

For Tarrcherra, I wasn't aware that I attacked you personally,  for you to post un-solicited words. If you think that the majority of the Hindi films can be watched with your brains working, then I pity u.

On the positive note, directors like Shyam Benegal, Satyajit Ray are to be congratulated for their attempt at making ground breaking films, which are celebrated worldwide. However, if you don't have the audience to watch such films then celebrated directors cannot continue, they also have to survive. Both directors have made losses for their aspiring films in India, it was only their international recognition that helped them.

To conclude the argument, there is definite talent in India to produce ground breaking concepts that could contribute towards socio-political development of our society and entertain us at the same time, only if the masses want it on one hand, and on the other hand one could argue that the media has to build a mature audience.

Finally, before you start making comments on 'Kaal' and 'Black' I just want to add that both of these films carried a message, strong environmental issues for the former film, and the concept of disability is not 'literal or absolute' for the latter. This makes such a difference from the usual 'hip hop slapstick'.

Attacks Guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D :-X

Madhurena Samapayet!

We do understand the contradictory oprinions can exist. And the whole point is to appreciate each other and accept the fact that everyone is entitled to a personal opinion of his own.

As Jesus had said, 'Love thy neighbour!' (Even if he does not cater to your opinion).

Didibhai, I think you have spoken for me and many of us who enjoy thought provoking movies. I also have nothing against songs and movies. I do believe they go hand in hand. But the context has to be right. Can you imagine "Gupi Gayen Bagha Bayen" or "The sound of music" without songs? But as you said, when a cop starts singing all on a sudden and that is also on Swiss Alps, my brain refuses to give in. See, I enjoyed lot of those movies in my teenage. But as I approach my mid 30s, I probably want to see more matured movies.
