Hi all,
Till few days back we have a section called "Silchar says" an opinion centre. I am hereby cut and pasting the users responses ...

The addas at various spots in Silchar...the typical pan-shop kinda things.

Silchar to me is home and I miss home and it's people as much as I miss my mother. The name itself begets an immense feeling of belonging and unexpressable ecstasy. It's been three years I am on the other side of the globe but I often take a walk down the lanes of Silchar with my old friends in my dreams. I wish I could forget about the world and remain lost in reverie.

Answering the question seems more difficult now that I actually decided to start typing. There are so many things about Silchar that I miss Para'r adda, silchar er riksa, fatak bazar, Kumbhirgram er rasta(?) diya gari'r suspension test kora, hidol, gopinath er samne adda, GC College, Holy Cross School, para'r matthey cricket khela, Gandhi Mela........ Also miss most of the people I have known. And last but not the least, miss my HOME all the time!!!

Walking down the meandering course of life, when I look back and ponder 'bout what I miss 'bout Silchar, the only word that pops up my mind is 'EVERYTHING'.Those fun-filled school days, the academics-stuffed college years, the delightful respite fetched by College fests and the cultural programs at our District Library...well the list is endless. The crux is,I dream of Silchar every day.And every morning I get up with the lingering freshness of a well-dreamt sleep. That peps up my sagging morale.

Silchar: The very mention of this place brings nostalgic memories of my relatives back there. I grew up in Shillong but would visit Silchar often during vacation. Among the other things I miss of Silchar are local fish like 'moka-maach', sitting by the banks of river barak, the easy relaxing atmosphere, and most importantly the abundant supply of Sylheti bhasha and how freely it can be used!!
