Volunteer needed to help silchar.com !!

Silchar.com needs a few volunteers for some web related work. If you are ready to give back something back to the site, do reply to this msg or mail me at admin AT silchar.com.
The work will not require any coding or programming but will need internet access and some browsing experience.
If you think you can offer 1 hour a day 3-4 days a week, do let me know ...

Atpresent we need around 2 to 3 volunteers .. I have PMed a few of you ... (check your personal messages .. check the top of this page .. it will tell you if you have messages).
Once the workload increases I will request others to join in too.. Thanks a lot !!

when u load the first page it will tell u when was the last time the script was called. This will give u some idea as to if someone is presently working on it.
Just work on any specific section, say the last few words or somewhere in the middle. Scroll down to te end of the page to see how many words are already present. You will know form this number if someone is presently working !!

After a news item is opened, if we found that it contains only 1 or 2 items, should we
1) take a decision based on 1 or 2 items OR
2) wait for more items to come.
If sr. no. 2 is correct, then is it possible to indicate nunber of items next to CREATE PAGE, so that we open only 3 or more item news to work on ?

in such cases when u get just 2 or 3 ... try to fit in atleast 2 .. with little bit more editing if reqd .. u can submit it so that others dont go thru the same thing ..
Its not trivial to show u the number of items next to create button for pages which have not been attempted yet. But yes .. for pages which were tried once it can be shown but with some bit of effort..

Sometimes we get blank news ( no news at all ) while clicking “CREATE PAGE”. Like today’s serial no. 35, RIA Novosti. Can this situation be eliminated to save time ? Otherwise, please tell us what we are supposed to do ?

Dear Admin,
I am listing such news items as “nn” indicating no news, so that you can eliminate them subsequently.
Also note that, after a message is posted, the link “ back to listing” goes to http://www.realtricks.com/content/start.pl which gives “password incorrect” message in my case.
The link should go to the listing itself or at least should go to http://www.realtricks.com/content/login.html

the msg link is fixed.
We do not need to mark NN for no news as the data file will have a 0 length file. For zero news cases go ahead and submit, so that we get the submitted data.

An interesting observation.
Item number 11 “ Interior Ministry” three news items.
!st item : El Nino weather pattern
2nd item : Denial of Pakistani visa to Indian dancer
Sharmistra Mukherjee
3rd item : Blame for the deaths on Pisarn in Brunei Darussalam
Normally if I found 1 or 2 items out of context, then eliminate that and keep remaining 3 / 4 items. But now I am at a loss and selected all 3 news items. Final choice is yours !
Any suggestions from Taar Cheera, Brown_eyes or Ravi what to do ?

If you think theres not a single item worth posting, just unselect all and post the news.
By submitting a zero item news you:
1) save others time .. they dont need to go thru the same experience ..
2) submit the item and therefore no one else submits and when I update the news section I know this is a zero file and so I know this news item should not go into the weekly news.
Also if you see just one news item and thats not much inline with the topic ... just do not select any item and submit (ie UNSELECT all news items and submit).
Great work !! Shankarda and TC are putting in a great effort ... others too are chipping in ..
