the typical syleti accent,the love for "poddar elish",keen interest in politics-be it national issues,college elections or even about girls.the surprising desire to save even the last pie from the rickshawallas and the weighty verbal duals over endless cups of tea on seemingly triffle matters in the nearest panshop.the best of it all is their love for silchar more than any other place on earth.

i feel we silcharites are comparable to jats of haryana! well dont get uprooted from your seats , let me tell you why? well see we have different and fast accent of speaking bengali and maximum silcharites believe in executing the work rather than gossiping about it as opposite to our counterparts in kolkata. we are a different breed with a unique with rather hot heads . so no pangas with us .we believe in the word 'WE' and that is our main strength. hopefully we will keep on beliveing in the power of silchar. -yours fellow silcharite souradeep

As for women- main and common characteristic for mahila(ma+mashi+pishi etc) is they love to consume paan. For young girls- they think that speaking syllheti outside their home is a matter of shame.so they love to speak silke i.e., syllheti+kelu. As far the men are concerned young chaps especially from g.c.college think that when they are in a bike with a cigarette in hand they can conquer the world(so do a beautiful woman also) And for our kaku's and jethu's they love to criticize these young guys keeping a portfolio of themselves in front of family members that they escaped these age.

our main characteristic is our hospitality, second to none in the world. we look after each other and always there at the time of need. on the negative side, we are over compromising and mostly avoid confrontation even if it is for our own rights. we are very knowledgeable but yet we are exploited by others. we like to eat shidol and have pan. but lately IMFL has made inroads in our society. we have a lot of guts and thats why our people are more smart and dashing than their compatriots in some othe towns.

From my point of view, what I feel the basic fact whch underlies every silcharite is that we all have a tremendous placesenti.We love our syllheti lingo. very much & have a watering mouth for shutki.

Mithun friendly mentality. White pants, white shoes and no chip(julfi). 120 zarda pan brightens up the face and also corners in silchar. DEKHI LAIMU and SHESH KORI LAIMU are common sound effects from them, but they are very good from the bottom of their heart, hospitable and helpful.

Silchar is a great place, with wrong politician, who thinks of themselves, they have done nothing for last 50 years. Well u can put it this way that we r the worthless lot. Because politician r our leaders, so the type we r our leader will be like us. If we silcharies staying out side could do anything for Silchar, without any intirest or politics. it will be great. Thats my feeling. I do not know what we can do best

Cohesiveness,extreamly sensitive to small issues,highly acadamic,open to critisism but close to changes.Well these are some good/bad about a typical Silcharite.But the language is the greatest it is this characteristic which makes any Silcharite to stand apart & be seen & admired.Frankly speaking if my opposite person is a Bong & doesn't speak Silethi I speak to him in all other languages other than Bengali.East or West Silethi is the BEST. I Strongly believe "Augga caian" is 100 times better than "Agie Cholo"

silchar the land watered by barak is one of the unique place of its own . The people of only that place succeed who have faced trouble and our people have faced floods & other calamities. Silchar has to rise trogh its people and we are the instrument of change for silchar. so please let us set good example tp rest of the cities not only in india but in whole world also . we love silchar

Silcharites are the forerunners of a great tradition-the great sylheti culture for which I feel the most.However, some seem to be having a myopic vision and do create a big nuisance in Silchar. Once great fighters for a good cause, many silcharites dread to tread outside silchar because of fear.

SILCHARITES ARE FRIENDLY ,LOVABLE.SYLHETI LANGUAGE ARE TOO SWEET YES BETTER THAN KALKAYSHIAAN'S RASOGOLLA,I STILL REMEMBER WHEN I WENT TO SYLHET IN 1991 ,I VISITED BATA'S OUTLET FOR A SLEEPAR..THE SALESMAN ASKED ME WHAT IS YOUR SIZE?I SAID I DON'T KNOW...AFTER THAT HE TOLD ME "6 NOMBOR PAAO GAATHIAA DEKHOIN".I REALLY ENJOYED THE WAY HE SPOKE WITH ME ..LOL!"PAAO GAATHIA DEKHOIN"!!!!!! I VISITED SO MANY PLACES AND I MET SO MANY PEOPLES BUT NO BODY LIKE SILCHARITES.I JUST LOVE BARAK VALLEY! BEING A SILCHARITES I MUST TELL SILCHARITES ARE NOT INTELLIGENT THEY ARE CHAALAK! YES THEY ARE EMOTIONAL TOO!
