United Nation's Economic and Social Commision for Asia and Pacific (UNESCAP) is doing a feasibility study of connecting all the Asian countries by a rail network. One segment of the route is Badarpur Lumding. Please see the links below. Can you imagine the implications? If this network becomes a reality then you can catch a train from Silchar to go to Bangkok! This will solve the problem of Geographic isolation of North East. Representatives of our region should take very keen interest in this project. It may change the way we live.
