THE GREAT TEACHERS OF NIT/REC SILCHAR
«on:

Hi everyone Today I want to start a new topic about our great teachers of this college. Lets start in this way. I shall be mentioning a few names of great teachers and the rexians are requested to pass their comments on these great men.
1. BEKU ( Bishwajit purkayastha): Friends do u think that BEKU can be considered as a teacher; least does he have the minm requirements to become a human being. He is the most notorious piece of trash the almighty has ever produced.
2. Karmu ( the HOD of Maths) : Actually I have fogot his real name. but who the hell cares. he is nothingn but a lunatic and believes only in money. Moreover if he ever gets a single chance to f**k a student, especially regarding hostel affairs, he never leaves any such chance.
3. Arup bhattacharjee : Although i respect this teacher very much , but if he ever reads this topic ever and i believe that he will certainly once, then i just want to ask him t5hat sir whats ur meaning of ur nature of always deceiving the students in the exam. u once in COA-I gave 80 marks from a single chapter and skipped 4 chapters without a single question from them. In all of ATTOC, DBMS and AI u behaved in the same manner that most of the students got below 100 in 150. What do u mean by this attitude of yours.????? |

Well Mr Guest I dont know who u r but from ur way of talking its very evident that you are one of those rascals who were alway in the habit of licking the teacher feet and who dont have any self esteem of their own and may be thats why you might be quite happy with the teachers of this college. Well u r saying that students have got jobs by studying under these teachers. Well I say that these teachers dont have any credit of their own. All what the students do here they do it on their own credit with zero help from the teachers. It may so happen to you that because of your excessive buttering nature the teacher might have given you some importants before the exam and which might have helped you to pass the exams which otherwise you would have certainly failed. But these are exceptional cases. So you suck and who is this hrishiraj bhatt i dont know him Bye |

well to be honest i was also badly fu**** by the teachers of our college and so it is obvious i never licked the feet of teachers ...but the fact is that this was the condition of REC 10 years earlier and it will remain as it is for the next 10 years. no discussion nothing can change this situation...so better not to waste the valuable space of sichar.com..lets discuss something useful here..but i bet you are hrishi bhatt of CSE 2000-2004 batch..no doubt in it. |

hi.. a real nice reply to that stupid....well done man...though i passed out from college 16 years before...i am surprised to see that no change in the quality of faculty...its reall bad..it was totally different conditions in our time..but there was some arguement about our time..that it was a new institute...but now definitely it should be different...somehow..i could get some good jobs in india with reputed companies...not defenitely because of greatness of our teachers...may be may be..!!! some factor of the institute's name ( REC ) without silchar...and ofcourse my efforts..
many of these teachers were from silchar itself...we can imagine..what would a person passing out rec silchar...and coming back for teaching...others...what knowledge he has??? i am totally unaware of the faculty condition at nit at present...any good professors????who can guide students properly.....no pratical knowledge...with these..guys...i still remeber about our lab works...feel shocking if i recollect our practicals...just did for getting marks...nobody was theer to guide...though it was a premior institute by name... :-[ :-[

hi there xrec...you made the following two statements in your message:
Statement 1. "not defenitely because of greatness of our teachers...may be may be..!!! some factor of the institute's name ( REC ) without silchar...and ofcourse my efforts.."
Stetement 2. "many of these teachers were from silchar itself...we can imagine..what would a person passing out rec silchar...and coming back for teaching...others...what knowledge he has"
are these two not in contradiction? if you can get a good job despite REC Silchar, and not because of it... then a person could be a good teacher despite REC Silchar...following your logic.
I am not saying that REC Silchar is an excellent place to study at...not even a 'good' place to do your engineering from...but then it is the students that make a college...not the infrastructure... the teachers are an important stakeholder...but the students are more improtant as its their career that is at stake...personally I have never advised anyone to graduate from REC Silchar...but then what I cannot fathom is why crib about people who were part of your life 15 years ago...now that you work with a reputed company...can you not do something by way of giving back some of your knowledge to the existing students? Of offering a helping hand?
Cant you do something to give a headstart to the alumni network?
Cant you do something to suggest ways of improving the shady site that REC Silchar has?
I will tell you something...I am not sure how many of you know this...I know this because the person who was responsible for this had contacted me when she was in Silchar in April...right after floods... This female was doing her management summer internship for one of the largest computing companies in the world...that company had sent her to Silchar to look at market opportunities for their servers and workstations in Silchar and nearby locales... In the process she went to REC Silchar...and did her meetings and other tasks...apparently REC Silchar was evaluating a number of vendors for procuring certain servers and workstations... She suggested that her company could send in some of their employees who could take some lectures and sessions on various areas related to computing in modern day world...this could be an ongoing process provided the company concerned was selected as a vendor for the said requirements...
I am not sure how far this has moved...but the point I wanted to make is...a company as big as the one I mentioned is going out of its way to get in touch with engineering colleges...since several of you who have passed out more than a decade ago are in important positions in your respective organizations, can you not do something to improve ther state of affairs of the college...atleast share some of ther knowledge and experience you have gained through your job?
Maybe create a portal where you can post such knowledge items...that serves the students and in turn the students can pose any queries that they might have...
The faculty is nothing great at REC Silchar...no questioning that...but cribbing about it all the time serves no good...neither it pricks their consciences so that they start being student- focused...so whats the point flooding the messageboard with such contents boss? 15 years since your graduation...I am pretty sure you are doign extremely well in your organization...why do you not leverage that clout to help some of your juniors?

hi rupam,
nice to see a straight reply from u...i would appreciate that....for your information..there r some alumni group created by some of oue batchmates...a yahoo group with a common id...i think more than 40 people r there already using that common id for communicating to each other..with a single id..in yahoo..
regarding the knowledge we r discussing..though u r brilliant..that dosent serve the purpose of teaching...what i mean the person graduating from silchar..will try to teach the same stuff..what he learned from limited resources...knowledge gain...the effort of mine i mean...the hard work...of mine..knowledge i learned thru experiance..15 years before also i had to move around initially to get a job...this should have been there if u r from a premior institute like Rec....Basically we need some good faculty well experianced in their field..who always try learn more..reasearch oriented or..uptodate about the field in their area...here the NIT faculty lacks..many reasons for not getting good experiance faculty there...like location of college..etc..college need to create such enviornment...for research..,students need to tune for competetive exams..like GRE,GATE,GMAT,Adminstrative services...etc..here lies the role of prinicipal and all faculty
regarding as u mentioned for helping..junior students...i will do ...whenever i get chance...but unfortunately at present i am in abroad....Rupam..pl. keep it in ur mind..even though i write many craps here in this room about rec/faculty...while talking to somebody i never say like that...that time rec sichar..is the great!!!!
cheers...

hello x-rex198...it seems that you have no respect for your college though you studied there and now you are in a renouned company because of the B.E degree given by REC silchar.. dear friend i admit that the faculty in REC is not the best..but for your information the situation is almost same in every REC...i have met many students from different RECs and every body says the same thing "sale teacher to sare chu*** hai"...frankly speaking you cannot expect the best faculty, best lab attended in engineering colleges..afteralll if they are best why should they go for an ordinary govt. service..but still we had teachers like achintya chowdhury, Ratnajeet Bhatt etc..so i think its time to remind our fellow Rexians that we should have a minimum respect towards our teachers..at least we should not call our teachers by name specially in a public place like this..this is our discredit...please remember that this site is viewed by students other than REC Silchar..so dont make our college a laughing topic.... |

Hi Mr Guest I am very much sorry to inform you that ur funda completely sucks. i dont think that there exists a single teacher in our present college who deserves to be respected from heart or who was a real student friendly one. Moreover, what do you think that I dont have any senti for my college ? if you have really guessed who I am then you would have never ever thought about me in that way. The matter of fact is that the teachers of REC Silchar are all worthless guys. And so far as your comparison to other colleges is concerned, atleast those colleges have good campussing and good infrastructure, where as our college has none Hey Mr GUEST atleast you shouldnt be ashamed to say what you are. But I still am unable to guess who in the bloody hell r u |

dear rexian nostalgic, i have been watching the same thing since the first day of my college..everyone abuse the teachers of NIT Silchar...but the fact is that no single person tries to improve the faculty condition of our college..you cannot deny that each year so many good students come out of our college..but nobody tries to become a faculty in the college...all of them go for private job..so if we dont feel for our college and dont want to work as a teacher in NIT Silchar, why should engineers from outside come here to work? my friend, the thing is that we all enjoy to criticise the current condition of NIT Silchar but nobody tries to improve it..shouting against the teaching environment is very easy but i bet you will never go for a job in NIT Silchar....moreover dont forget the basic moral given by our father and mother that you should always respect your teacher... one more thing i am never ashamed of saying who i am...but the fact is that you guys start abusing like anything by hiding under a fake id...thats why "mein tumhare muh nahi lagna chahta".. |

Dear Mr Guest I am again sorry that u failed to get what I meant to say. I am not having any ill feeling against the teachers due to their incapability, but atleast we can expect the teachers to be good person individually, which unfortunately the teachers of REC Silchar are not. So there is no question to respect a teacher who is lacking the basic quality to become a good teacher, ie. he aint a good man. Man dont try to remind me what my parents taught me at home. I still do respect very much all the teachers who used to teach me till class 12. I dont respect them only because they were all fundu, but above all they are good men and deserve respect. And didnt ur parents teach u to be bold and courageous at home. Then why r u afraid to disclose ur name. I am hello ji. who r u ????????????????????????? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? |

My respected senior Mr. x-rec 198 Although I dont know you and the fact that you are very much senior to me; but i am happy to find that both you and I share the same feelings . Infact this proves the fact that all great men think alike ;D ;D ;D ;D It is a universal fact that the teachers of REC silchar sucks. Mr Guest told us some stupid facts. But I should mention him one thing that both our college as well as REC calicut were set up in the same time. but due to tghe mass scale corruption of this college teachers that rec silchar has become so underdevelo[ped. And the responsibles are only the teachers. Well Mr x rec, I do hope forward to be in touch with you. Bye REC SILCHAR ZINDABAD |

guys,
thanks for ur comments.....whatever i wrote in this column...its all from my experiance...difficulties i faced...while doing job hunt...dont forget that i passed out more than 15 years before...with a diffrent job opportunity scenario...( better opportunity).
just take an example of about lab...works...how many professors in rec can properly guide.an instrument..how many of them knows about the latest technologies or instruments used by industry.....still remember..about mechanical..instrumentation lab/ automobile lab..etc..etc...hopeless guide from our great teachers...at least i have seen something there..lying...( i am talking about my time..may be i am wrong...based on this silchar room comments..my assumption no improvement for the faculty after so many years....)..i still remember nobody was there to properly guide ( i must say not competant enough ) us during our project works...some how we selected one project from some journals..and did to get marks....how many of the mechanical guys...knows or properly identify different types of valves or flanges...just example...though students do machine design on the same..( 4-5 hours machine design exam)....so we need some improvement on theory to pratical ratio...there we need good technically knowledge people...need more exposure to students.......one of the areas college has to explore...rec various departments has many costly equipments or machineries...instead keeping that as monument ...let it be given to some industry...or companies...or even small scale units...let them utilise it...with marginal rental cost...( HPCL...co. )..so students get direct exposure to the industry...practical knowledge...even our nit teachers also can learn ...without loosing their dignity.....
as i said earlier...students need to create an environment for competetive exams.....let the faculty also start discussing about these exams...etc...while teaching..so in every talk or discussion...or thinking lets us do it.....let the entire campus will gradually tune towards that..atmosphere...let the college arranges some classes or seminars from experts...from these areas.......let so students get enlightened or moral boosting....so dear faculty guys...dont run away from ur responsibilties...its not mere a monthly income for u...take more weight on ur shoulder....let people around silchar/ assam/ ..entire country..start talking about nit silchar students...let 100% students get absorbed thru campus placement/GRE/GMAT/Admn services...i would like to see that...let me be a proud rexian...let me openely say with proud ...i am an NIT sichari...product..!!!!!

ha ha ha Mr. X-rex 198...or whatever may be...you think that i am a faculty from NIT Silchar? never...i am one of those students of NIT Silchar who still love their college despite of its poor condition...and i think you are one of those guys who always tries to establish that he has experienced the worst condition and still able to become a super hero in his life.....my dear friend you abused me as a "f****g faculty of NIT Silchar". i think i also learnt how to call people by names in college..after all i am also a rexian...but i am not one of those who always try to show their knowledge of "galis" in Silchar.com....and thats why Mr.Hrshiraj Bhatt i am not willing to disclose my name...and you tell me to be courageous?? ha ha ha...my dear friend look at your id...is it your real name?? if so then i am a coward...and if not then first you try to become courageous and tell us who you are? |

hi, hello ...my young friend ' guest'...i am not here for an arguement...even though i am busy in my office.. when i saw this adda page...i remembered my past college days...and excited..to see the rexians comments...and just shared some of my views...i may be wrong...
mr. guest did u get a job thru campus recruitment..?or ur batch mates almost all of them get thru campus placement? ( i assume u r not a student now ).....a college like nit should have more than 90% campus placements...so here lies the responsibilities of college and faculty....u dont believe..in our time..there was no seperate office or rooms for campus interview...when somebody come...sometime they give principals..room...sometimes some professors room....this shows our lack of knowledge.of the campus.interview or ..not aware of the seriousness.....when u treat a company persons like a vip...give all facilities what they need it makes differance...hope this may not be the condition now
sorry my friend guest...if my words hurts u...i would like ti see rec silchar shining....may be some of our dear faculty memebers see all these comments...rectify themselves..learn more...show more responsibilities...more dedication.....i will be the happiest person if somebody say. 'NIT Silchar' is a very good institute...good faculty...good facilty...100% campus placement...!!!!!!!!lets hope...it can...!!!

Hi,
Again thanks a lot to Mr.xrec-198 for again posting relevent stuffs.
What I think is that there are lot of people who just burst out their emotions towards the faculty without any reasons. The bottom line of joining any professional college like NIT, IIT is to to get a broader exposure in terms of education and other stuffs. So, if NIT Silchar is not doing good as compared to other NIT's, we should accept this fact and our faculty members should step forward in improving things. Well, at the same time, I do agree that lots of things have changed after it became NIT and came out of state govt. administration .
Each and every student of NIT Silchar should always keep this point in their mind that they are a part of National Institute of Technology because clearing AIEEE and getting a seat in NIT is not at all a joke. So, they should all aim to get absorbed in their final year through campus placements and if that's not happening the PLACEMENT CELL needs to take care of that. SO, its not like any local general college, that after passing out , you go out in search of job . Its a complete resedential college with the status of center of excellence by MHRD, Govt. of India. So, everyone not only students but also faculty should feel the difference and project themselves in an impressive way to the corporate world, then only they can expect the big names like Oracle, IOC to come to our campus and pick their fresh engineers .
Once again, I am not arguing with any one. I am just keeping the facts. The mindset needs to be changed a bit more. I know lot of things have changed and campus placements has improved after it became NIT under the leadership of ex.director of IIT Guwahati. That's gr8.....3 cheers for that.
But ofcourse, we should not be satisfied. We should GROW GROW and GROW.....
Bye |

pl. join with faculty members and make them to arrange frequent industrial experts visits, seminars/classes...let us have a direct interaction with latest industrial tecniques and make urself update..
let the teachers start taking up projects...with help of department and students..a direct on hand exposure for students...and of course financial gain for department / teachers....
it can easliy start from civil / structural design projects.....feasibilty studies...technical reviews...etc..etc....dont try to look around only assam...let our eyes widely open..and look outside assam...i think north east itself is a big opportunity pocket..at least grab that....first..!!!!..let industry/institutions think instantly about NIT department when they have a problem..let them contact..first NIT...Prove that...outside the campus...

Hi, Mr. xrec_198 as you said you are so senior to us maybe you are in a good position in some MNC. So what have you donr for the collge to improve its quality or to help some of your juniors to get some jobs. about the teachers of REC i will say students from all engineering colleges feel that way only that the teachers are the worst stuff, but then think again i will say my case i will rarely go to classes , never submit my sessionals , so i wont get marks and about marsheets i have loads of them 18 total. Yes the teachers are rude , they dont give sessionals and all they dont behave properly. But i have seen the same students who say that the teachers dont give marks go on to be in the same mould. One case is one boy one year senior to me , he got into the college and he gave the lowest sessionals. Any way bye expecting ur answer pranab

Hi,
Wht pranab said was right...i had passed out of this college in year 2000...can u people think in dream also to take B.K Roy as project guide in final year, but our project team was working under him i hardly go to his chamber it's not tht i don't like him ...he gave very good marks in project which frankly speaking i didnot expected from him...in our time also we people had lot of grudge against him ...as regarding sessional i would say atleast we should be sincere and little bit attentive then sessional will never be an issue ..it is also correct girls used to get very good mark in sessional ..but about this nothing can be done as most of the teacher are male even then ....i am not saying to do injustice to them but atleast both male and female should be treated equally ..there was one teacher i don't want to tell his name ..he used to teach us drives and he openly used to support girls(hint his daughter recently got married in delhi ;) always as far as he used to tell all girls are like his daughter..good boss we don't have any issue in it ...but it's not your own property to give the marks ...if it's your own property then do whtever u want to do... One thing I will say about teachers in NIT is tht they are not so bad as we used to tell but one thing is tht they should atleast change their way of thinking and then they will get more respect from the students...
