Stories of my life
«on: 06/15/04 at 20:27:22 »

From time to time I get an urge to write about myself. And the urge is immediately followed by a more objective and logical de-urging - why  write - write about what, and for whom.
As I sit in a sleepy afternoon, in my office , not doing much mainly procastinating as long as I can - I suddently get this urge to write about my first day in the Silchar Medical College. The memories have become dull green - it has been many years now. I remember standing in front of the rrrrangirkahari bust stop watching the timekeeper . In a very joking attempt at one point Silchar citibus owners  association (as if there was something like that ever) a ruffled man would sit in the dust sharing the citibus stand with cows and cowdung would religiously write down the time of arrival and departure of each up and down citibus . Catching up on time. I always thought the man had active TB. Anyway, the citibus that I took was named Shankar - that was one of the gaudiest bus that ever ran in Silchar - my omniscient elder brother once told us that was exclusively made in Delhi - I always felt very proud that Silchar has its own citibus system. The bus journey as even now was very dusty and bumpy the peak bumps coming somewhere from the Kathal tala which in my later days was a good hunting spot for country liquor. I remember I was acutely aware of a my dark grey colored pant which had the creases ironed in places where it should not have been and one of the buttonswas dangerously loose and about to fall. I cursed our boy servant and made a mental note to take it to mom. I never ironed my clothes myself - except now when I do with large amount pof boredom.

more Coming up .......
