Some Tips to get info on NIT admissions etc.

Dear All

I see a lot of you posting messages on this site with queries that are vitally important to your careers...well, sadly this isn't the right forum...
Most of you must've hit upon this room through google but you've probably realized by now that this site isn't the official torchbearer of NIT Silchar...so it's highly unlikely that you'd ever get an accurate reply to your queries.

I don't think NIT Silchar has a properly maintained web site that is updated regularly or checked for queries...maybe one of you who would join NIT would do something about it in future...I would've if only I could...for me html, java, xml, etc.etc. are just fancy terms I hear from friends :)...never had the knack for it...never want to...ignorance is bliss !!! ;D
Anyway, learning about my personal preferences wouldn't be of any benefit for any of you.

The only help that I can get you is give the phone numbers where you might contact for correct and relevant info :

NIT Silchar :
03842 - 233842, 233179

03842 - 240063 ( Registrar's residence, so please use it judiciously )

Hope this is of some help...

Good wishes to all of you.

Amit Saraf...still in Blore ??
I think Dr. Achintya Choudhury is in Sikkim Manipal...there's a phone no. 03592 - 240346...not his dierct number but I think you'll definitely get some extra info...the e-mail ID for the college is smit@dtevsnl.net.in

XYZ...I can't even dare to pretend being a career consultant even though I work for an automobile company...yes, there definitely is scope for mechanical engineers anywhere...
1. Telco generally recruits freshers from campuses only but the numbers are going down lately in favour of ppl with experience ( preferably with a MTech/MBA from second string colleges)
2. You also have HM, Maruti ( has a written test in May-June I think)etc...
3. Daimler-Chrysler and all the new MNC entrants like Hyundai, etc. for both technical as well as some IT related work for ppl with Mech degrees...
4.Don't forget other related industries that make engines, bearings, fastners, seals, pumps and motors, etc.
5. The two - wheeler industry...Hero Honda, TVS, YMI, Bajaj are all good enough brands
6. Tractors and other farm and industrial equipment.
7. Lastly, what I do...construction equipment and heavy mining machinery...

why don't you put your CV to a few good consultants with specific instructions about your interests ?? They are far better equipped to know about latest vacancies...and atleast you are assured to be called for some interviews which in itself is a huge gain...I don't know where you are currently based ( it helps if you are in a metro ) at but if you need any specific info, pls feel free to e-mail me...
I don't think I've given you any great advice but I hope it still helps a bit...and do discuss these issues with your friends/seniors around or close to you...all the best !
