Should India launch strikes against Pakistan?

The tension between Pakistan and India is at a fever pitch. If Pakistan doesn’t meet the demands from India, that is Pakistan to genuinely stop cross border terrorism, and hand over list of suspects. Should India teach Pakistan a lesson?

India should finish off Pakistan once for all. We had enough of Pakistan’s sponsored terrorism. The attack on our parliament was the last straw. India is stronger than Pakistan, so that shouldn’t be much of a problem.  America must understand that Pakistan is a terrorist factory, where thousands of men are sent abroad to wage jihad abroad. Furthermore the Kashmiri militants are not Kashmiris but are foreigners like Arabs, Afghanis and Pakistanis. America should support India in its war with terrorism and not request India to show restraint.   >:(

I agree with Anai that India should attack. We should targets terrorist training camps in Pakistan controlled Kashmir. So what if Pakistan hits back. We have more advanced nuclear weapons, if they are foolish to use it, they will regret it. I don?t know why India still waiting. How dare a small country like Pakistan dares to attack our country with over a billion people. We are too soft with Pakistan.

I think India and Pakistan should ease tension along their borders and end this crisis by diplomatic means. It’s important because both sides have nuclear weapons, which can cause severe devastation to the whole region. I don’t agree with Anai and Babla that India starts a war, as this will further make the situation out of control.  I can understand India’s frustration with cross border terrorism, but getting support from America and Britain is crucial to combat terrorism as they can and are applying pressure on Pakistan to genuinely crack down on extremists. But it will a hard task for Musharaf, who is a moderate, as successive Pakistani leaders encouraged these fanatical groups to engage in suicide bombings in Kashmir.

India on its part should stop human rights abuses iby its security forces which are adding to local people’s resentment of Indian rule. India helped struggling East Pakistan to gain independence from brutal Pakistan, which massacred tens of thousands of Bengalis.  So just because Kashmir has Muslim majority doesn’t mean they want to join Pakistan. Pakistan should learn from its experience with East Pakistan.

Yes Shamim liked your last posting on this topic. Good that partly you are supporting Indian Diplomatic policy & at the same time that you have the experience (or heard) of separation of Bangladesh from Pakistan. Now the East Pakistanis are enjoying the freedom because of India but sorry to say most of your countrymen is not having the same feeling like you. Whatever Aanai & Babla had stated that is also true that India should attack the Pakistan but I will say the same should be the last option. Both the Countries are having the Nuclear weapons & no one will hesitate to use the same if need arises, ultimately we will loose lot of things & we have to struggle once again very hard achieve all those. It's also correct that today it is going beyond the tolerance limit of all Indians. Whatever the Indian Government is doing these days is correct that they are creating International pressure on Pak. My self as an Indian can boldly say that if at all India wants to attack on Pak it can be done at any point of time & Our Country is having that much of capability to make pak as History. If the attack starts Pakistan will either became International beggar ( Today it's a National Beggar because it's begging form some Countries only )  or In the Next Generation in the International History there will be a chapter with heading like "IN ANCIENT TIMES THERE WAS COUNTRY CALLED PAKISTAN" ....

Bandhorlathibhai, I liked your half Sylheti and English comments. Your last Hindi lines; couldn’t you have written that in Sylheti as well? It seems that you haven’t forgotten your Sylheti, keep it up lad.

Pakistan has given away some part of Kashmir to China, how dare they claim to represent people of Kashmir. Let’s see that Musharaf acts quickly and cracks down on these extremists groups as he promised, these groups are responsible for hundreds of sectarian killings, and he stops cross border terrorism. The Pakistani leaders, who were responsible massacring thousands of Bengalis in 1971 war, should be tried for war crimes. America should bring charges to them as they did in Bosnian war.

Instead of war between these two warring nations, they should start war on poverty and on social reforms. Both countries should stop Men murdering Women in name of honour as in Pakistan and dowry killings as in India and acid attacks on women in Bangladesh. I don’t like wars between two fellow South Asian countries. After all we are all one people.

Both countries should drastically reduce billions of dollars in defence spending and instead spend on poverty, which is a grave concern to everyone. Both countries should realise that they can’t afford to spend billions of dollars every year on defence while its people are living below the poverty line.

We all, including Pakistanis should be proud of people who settled Indus Valley. They created probably the most advanced civilisation in the world. The cities in Mohenjodaro and Harrapa are at least in par with the ancient Egyptians. Most western experts agree that these sophisticated ancient Indians had very advance town planning and civil engineering that were ahead of all other countries. So let us hope for peace and prosperity of the Indian subcontinent, where its people can live in peace and women status are raised.
