65-year-old woman commits sati in MP
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday, August 6, 2002 (Bhopal):

In a shocking incident of sati, a 65-year-old woman sat on the funeral pyre of her husband today and died of burn injuries at a village in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district.

Police said that Mallu Nai died early today at Tamoli Patna village, about 70 kms from the district headquarters of Panna, after prolonged sickness.

On coming to know that Mallu's wife Kuttu Bai was going to commit Sati, two policemen from Saleha, about 8 kms from the place of the incident, rushed to the site and tried to save the woman. But they came under stone attack by villagers, police said.

Kuttu Bai's two grown-up sons did not make attempts to prevent their mother from sitting on their father's funeral pyre, police said.

The village is now totally deserted and further information about the incident will be known only after they return to it, police said adding a group of senior police officials has rushed to Tamoli Patna. (PTI)

What response is the best fit for such uncivilized bruts?

The two sons and the Villagers who supported this barbaric action should be hanged till death. And all those villagers who are trying to glorify that place a as holy place should be thrashed and caned openly in public, so that nobody ever dare to think of such nonsense. This is the language those ignorant uncivilized bruts will understand.

Some fanatics or lunatics are trying to glorify the incident and dreaming to build a mandir over that place.

I wonder how far people can go when they lose their senses.
