Just finished reading the book. It has been my companion for a while during my early morning commute. I am having a very strange feeling after finishing the book. There are so many things that I can relate to, enough to make me nostalgic. But I was quite disappointed by the fact that the author does not have anything good to speak about Silcharites. Or else why would he describe Silcharites as "rustic Bengalis" ( Grammo ). I have noticed this attitude among Bengalis of Shillong, who tend to snub Silcharites.  But overall it was a nice reading.  I have one curiocity. May be someone who lived in Shillong during 80s may be able to answer. In this book some student leaders were described to have assumed Nazi names. Leader of the student body for example had an alias "Hitler". Is it just a symbolism to portray xenophobia among Khasis or fact?
