Nostalgia
«on: 02/23/05 at 02:36:26 »

Had about half an hour off between morning and afternoon shift. For lunch. My hour of reminscence
Thinking about once upon a time very close friend. I was in Chandigarh at that time. She was from Himachal Pradesh. Once I have been to her hometown as well - nice little dreamy town nestled in the hills of HP.
First time I met her in the wards - had some heated exchange about some minor errands. Then she asked me are you Bengali - you speak hindi with a different accent. I said I do but building up on my hindi - i asked her does she know the hindi word of marble - she did not - i told her see thats your mothertongue. She smiled and said you are interesting.

Next time I saw her with her friends in the PU campus ice cream shop - I was alone - unsure to encounter her - wishing she did not see him coming. But she did - and boldly stepped over and introduced me to her noisily boisterous frieends as the bengali babu. I said good bye stiffly.

The month of January we had many night shift together - in the casualty. Sometime at 2 AM - it will relatively quiet and we will step out for a hot cup of tea. By the campus entrance gate, the tea vendor, making tea in a large saucepan, thick with milk and with an hanging aroma of outdated cardamom, served in a mitti ka cup - foggy winter night - chilly air - the settings for a perfect romance.

I was always unsure about building relationship - my brother had married out of caste -lots of acrimony in the family deep in my heart I knew I had to marry someone my parents would like. But somehow things were moving first.

It was my official birthday - I did not even note it - my true birthday is six month down. she knew from the department, invited me to a very nice restaurant in the 17th sector - she was wearing blue sharee rather awkwardly - Bengali style - I was surprised...............

Definitely he is a doctor, had been doing his MD or MS [may be MCH even]. The life of a medical student, during the post graduation is the toughest as I know.

24 Hours !! Sometimes even 36 hours with just 30 min breaks.....

One of my MCH relatives told the plight of 48 hours duty in AIIMS despite running fever! Sorry, no Chhutti.....boss first.

***********
By the way, you have put down a very entertaining story. Are you the one, who told us another story long back about a severe diabetic patient and a senior girl student at the Silchar medical college? The style of presentation looks familiar......

Asiti da when I was reading the "Nostalgia" it too reminded of the same diabetic thing u mentioned!!!!

Prabashiboy were u the one who was serious abt the medical awareness concept in our community???? If so I am still waiting for that to occur.

Cheers!!!!!!

I dont know whether are you trying your level best to built a bridge between your family and your tea partner?

lets' listen it from YOU....

Probably your biography will swank  others..
