Mobile Phone Security(a sweet revenge)

A little 'get your own back' if you have your mobile stolen.
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: *#06#. A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. Should your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the Sim card your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it, can't use/sell it either. If everybody did this, there would be no point in stealing mobile phones .
Send this to as many people with mobiles as possible.

Dear Sanjib
This a superb informative message and I am sure it is not known to many cell phone owners. I have shared it with my office colleagues. I think these type of info will make silchar.com a popular website in near future. Hope Silchar.com is not restricted to people living in Silchar only
Keep it up and ignore demotivators

Thanks Mr.Arup Bhattacharjee. Yes I know this site is not only for the Silcharites, but I think everyone can share their thoughts and ideas on this platform. I am hailing from Karimganj and I enjoy surfing this site.

dear sanjib, u r mistaken .correct me if iam wrong....i think there is no relation between IMEI no. and sevice provider. imei is for checking your instument or what we call handset that wheather the handset is duplicate or not.if IMEI no doesn't match with ur instrument (generally written inside the the handset) that means the handset is assembled. if u r not sure don't give this type of wrong information.confirm it first, don't think silcharian's are fool, just use your common sense dost, sevice provider may be airtel,bpl,reliance...and instrument may be alcatel.nokia.panasonic....so how come this service provider will come to know the IMEI no. u r fooling man...ha...ha.yeah u can block your sim card by sending your requeast to ur sevice provider.so,my dear don't mind if i've hurt u somewhre,it was not intentional....but u need to know. thanks and take good care of yourself peter |

Dear Mr Peter,
This is FYI...
When a phone is switched on, the unqiue IMEI number is transmitted and checked against a database of blacklisted or greylisted phones in the network's EIR (Equipment ID Register).
This EIR determines whether the phone can log onto the network to make and receive calls .
You can do a google search with the key words IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity), U will be surprised to find that there are paid services that can track your lost mobile phone using IMEI
For more information regarding IMEI please refer to some of the web sites
http://www.pcwebopedia.com/TERM/I/IMEI.html www.cellular.co.za/ieminumbers.htm
Your service provider has your mobile phones IMEI number, this information is available in the service providers system every time a call is made from your handset.
I lost my mobile phone few months ago, and when I realized that I have no chance of getting it back, I requested my Service provider (Command) to BLACKLIST my IMEI number. This was done immidiately by Command services. Command extracted my IMEI number from its database of my old calls.
Blocking the SIM card is of no use as SIM can be replaced, (But should be immidiately done to ensure no further billing from Cell)
The Topic presented by Sanjib was good and should be known to all mobile users.
Thanks & Regards Nilanjan
