Khati Sylheti Word Contest !!

Hi all
I was wondering of the number of typical sylheti words that we use in our day to day life which have no relationship with any word in the bengali dictionary ... lets say the word chipa ... as opposite to kuna ( which has a relation with the word kona ) . And thought it would be a great idea of getting contributions from fellow sylhetis in compiling the [glow=red,2,300]online sylheti dictionary[/glow] and once we have a sizable collection , we can go for the [glow=red,2,300]Khati Sylheti Word contest[/glow] where users will vote for the most khati sylheti word known to man !!
So do contribute your words and yes pls include the english translation of the word along with the sylheti word .
And we can include sylheti phrases too ..

Oi eto dine passwd pailaam...tao je passwd ekhkhan...loge loge change korsi...anyway, here are a few more...I'll try and be slightly off-beat, i.e.put words which generally not too many people are likely to use much or know about. If you do know these, then they're sure to bring a grin across your face...just as the words chipa, ushta and aael had an effect on me ! :)
Very difficult to resist the temptation of adding something very gross...here goes my attempt...
Bigha[color=Navy][/color]- unit of land; also the distance between the tips of the thumb and index finger when fully outstretched ( very useful while playing "dip-too", which can also be a word) ;)
[i][/i]Bhi - unit of shupari ( betelnut), I think 40 nuts is 1 Bhi.
[i][/i]Dori - a bamboo contraption for fishing ( pronounced with "Do" as is dum-dum-diga-diga )
[i][/i]Share ashto sho - one of my favourites, used for 850 grams.Some people even quote the time as " dosh ta haitish" for 10:37 am/pm.
[i][/i]Ab-boo / Thuk-koo - Equilvalent of "times" in any game.
[i][/i]Uuaama - Wish. fetish or desire
[i][/i]Fau - The excess quantity you get/demand gratis while buying anything
[i][/i]Deka/Deki - Male and female calves ( sometimes used on people as well )
[i][/i]Aawa / aai - Drake and Duck
[i][/i]Mekur - Cat...I guess everybody also knows about "(H)ula bilai [i][/i]" used for a tom cat.
[i][/i]Baandi - Mistress; also the back-from-home ( paakna guti ) used to devastate opposition in a game of dosh-pochish.
[i][/i]Kaaklaash - The true-blue syleti word for a chameleon;also used for a very skinny fellow...reminds me of one more gem - Telchura !!!
Miski shoitan [i][/i]- need I explain ??
Pek[i][/i] - mud
Dawood ( not Ibrahim),Pakali, Bikhauz [i][/i]- Various skin diseases.
Aaolaath [i][/i]- Loan with/without collateral
Tegarua[i][/i] - a combination of moron,obstinate and more.
Baaush[i][/i] - The syleti word for " kaatla maach "...I also just found that the scientific name is Katla Katla.
Guddi bajani [i][/i]- The fine art of cutting an opponent's kite and also bringing it back to ground along with yours.The manual lift-off you request somebody else to give you at the start is called " Jhaaranti[i][/i] "
Porosh[i][/i] - Some person, thing or place that is dirty and supposedly untouchable...you cross your index and middle fingers over each other as an antidote ;D
Dudh-bhaat [i][/i]- Any team-mate( usually the youngest) who is not considered to be a serious participant and who has been inducted only because omiitting him/her would have serious consequences ;D
Bilati Baingon, Shopri,Metha Tel - Tomato, Guava, Edible Oil in that order.
Kaag [i][/i]- Funnel ( believe it or not, they call it " Ladki" in Kannada !!)
E-tor [i][/i]- How can I ignore this word in this e-@ge ???
Ufff...Aar parsi naa...pore hoibo.

Well let me add few lines here.
The unit of supari ( Gua) mentioned by Jimut is a bit incomplete/incorrect. Gua transactions are made in the following units
10 gua's make 1 Gha.
40 Gha's make one Bhi (presently i guess it costs Rs 150/bhi in cachar)
So one Bhi makes out to be 400 Gua's .
Also the word Baandi( - Mistress) is used to insult somebody( usually ladies) --e,g, Aami tor khorid kora baandi na.
Arua (unsmart)- e.g, igur moto arua aar nai.
Thubla Mekur - stray cat, Thubla is also used for meaning a playboy type of person--"igu ekta thubla, khali college or samney adda!."
Gai ( Cow) -- e,g Dudor gai.
Aauta, torja - (Wall? )a protection grid made up of bambo.
Baugra - Leaf of supari tea.

Zakir reminds me of the unique word "bera" ... as in <bamboo fence> ... and well "keti" as it keti kutta ... itor .. tukani .. I dont know how many languages use this concept of "farm er murgi" ... pati ( as in pati kotha) ... halar-hala ( this is not so abusive ... but pls this shud not inspire others to go to higher limits ) ..

though i am sylheti i don;t know much khati sylheti words. but wherever i come across some really khati words, those i have never heard, i try to keep those in memory. long back i have heard our landlord talking to his maid servant. i am quoting his words. he is basically from udarbandh.
land lord : rintu khano ( where is rintu )
maid servant : hutno ( sleeping )
land lord : howki de ( call him )
thats wht i have understood frm there conversation and i may be wrong in interpreting them. if i am wrong i would love to know the right. |

The word is Oostha ( appears to be opobhrongsho of ho-chot). Which supports syelthi sentence ¡§je joor Oostha khaichi, paw eke bare bhangi gechey¡¨ While the other meaning is of Oostha is to kick, like ¡§ Ek Oostha mariya daat sob phalai dimu¡¨. Request for expert comments.
Let me conclude with one dialogue which an egg seller in our Shillong, Laitumukrah market once told after gulping enough of country liquor ( kakiyat), which is a total non-sense rhyme but it is one of the most attractive sylethi dialogue I have ever heard. Here it goes.

Whenever somthng good is gng on ..there will be some ppl making unnecessary comments and hurting others sentiments..now i think they are doing this for their 15 mins of fame.
Then we will say something against that person and the fight that he wanted will start....
And finally we r are off track!!!
We wont let that happen >:( so fellow sylhetis this is wot i think we shd do.
