How much do we miss Karimganj ?
«on: 07/02/04 at 23:51:55 »

Everyday morning after getting on to the internet I wish to learn more about Karimganj, but in today's world of technology some where my sweet li'l town is lost. I still remeber those parar gali, road cricket when some polictial party will call of bandh, Shambhu sagar park or adda, cycling till akbarpur, Radha cinema hall, gossiping at Annapurna Restaurent etc etc.. Those were the golden days of my life which will perhaps never come back to me, but till now when I close my eyes I can feel it right inside my heart.

I know in today's world of tough competition probably no one bothers about Shambhu sagar park or adda mara, Annapurna restaurent.

I am sure there are lots of guys /gals from Karimganj who sometime visit Sichar.com. Trust me you are the ambassadors of Silchar.com and all Karimganjians across the globe and we are really starving to know what's going in and arround Karimganj. And trust me every small piece of information will bring that fresh breeze of Kushiara back to us.

Take care an keep smiling
Sandy

Why you are so reluctant to share your thoughts ?

Hey I came to know one of the most eligible Bachelor Mr. Shivshankar Roy (Shivu) is getting married. Is that true ? Well congrats buddy.

Is the ragging period of Karimganj college over ? How was the 10+2 result of Karimganj college ? How many guys and gals got admitted to RECs & Medical colleges ?

All the best keep smiling

Shibu is in B'lore now, working for Wipro. It's right, he is getting married. And guess what the girl is also from REC, Durgapur. Never knew Shibu had the ability to patafy any girl. And Sandy if you bestow Shibu with the award of most eligible bachelor either you don't have eyes or you have never spoken to him.

Com'n give me a break. Shibu has not changed yet. I didn't talk to Shibu lately. But I thought a girl's touch sometimes brings lots of good things in life. If that is not true then guest definitely I guess I gotta take my words back.

Well So, what's up ? How is my karimganj. Heard it's raining really hard these days. I really miss that rain. I read someone at Silchar.com only in barakvelly the sound of rain is not "tip tip", It's "rim-jhim" yeah he is very true. When ever it rains here I treasure the similarity, but like the land, the rain is also not my own.

Will be waiting to hear all those gossips of karimganj too

Hey Debashree

You took me back to the memory lane. Tears rolled out.

Yeah we can never forget those days. We can still feel them right inside our heart.
It seems all the native Karimganjians are kindda angry with us. They are not ready to share their part of the story.

Trust me I, now I can say we Miss Karimganj.

Take care and have fun

Dear Krishanu

Trust me I liked your that writting and I have used those pharses in so many mails of mine. I really apprciate you and your thoughts. It's good to see you replying to me.

Yeah he is the same Shibu you are referring to. I have no news of Dhruba, and the lady I guess her name is Sejuti. I didn't hear any of them lately.

Hey believe me you have reminded me about one the road which was always with me when I was upset. I probably shared all my sorrows with that road cruising along with him. I guess name of the road was Mahatma Gandhi Road.

Hey by the way what happened to those two Dons of Karimganj Heera/ Panna ? Has Narayan da of Krishna Stores got married ? How's Bachhu da of Annapurna Restaurent ? There was one more guy, I guess few people must be knowing him, his name is Natakishore how's he ? So, many questions are popping up.

Bye for now take care and keep smiling

Hiiiiii

I also stayed at Karimganj 1986-1992. I Studied govt school (1986-1990) from class-VII to class-X and then Karimganj College (1990-1992) at HS (Science)
I still remmember my days at Karimganj...Netaji mela...Durga Puja...Kali Puja...(When all resident come out of house  in the morning)...and another occasion when all resident come out of house in the morning is Mohaloya....Mission Rd...Sambhu Sagar....Debdhut Mistanno Bhandhar...Station Rd.....That Ghosh Dairy .. Radha Cinema...near Kxz College. Bahut bahut mone pore karimganjer kotha....The cricket tournament at the field of Kxz college.

Do u people remember the way Ranjit Sir used to take the mathematics class at Kxz college...he used to teach us Calculus. But unfortunately I came to know that he has expired 3 years back. That Lala sir & Umesh  sir of Physics..they used to sleep in the classes....that strict Amitava sir of Physics, One madam (forgot the name) of Maths and Radhika sir of Chemistry ( Now he is principal ). that one short height ...yeah got it...Saumitra sir of Chemistry.

In Govt school, I remember number of teachers....beautiful Nibedita madam , Poritosh Sir, Debu sir of maths , adv math & Science, Arobindo sir of Maths ( for class IX & X) and Eng (for HS). Boldev sir for Social studies...that nice Madam ( forgot the name) for Sanskrit. really I won't forget those nice days of my life at Karimganj.  We used look at the girls of MMC school when we passes mission rd for our school, bcz at mission rd arround 10-10.20 you people find lot of boys for Govt school & girls for MMC are passing in opposite direction. I think those things happen now-a-days also. Remember lots boys used to tease girls in front of Sibu's cycle shop which is just in the corner of Mission Rd.

Now I am staying far away from Karimganj.....I went there last on May 2001.  I wish I can visit this place within a year or so.

If anyone know any of my batch mate...plz give their contacts.

Thats..all for today.....

Well Said Sanjib,

Karimganj has really a special place in our heart even we didn't stay there for long. I still remeber those days of Mahalaya, coming out of house in my cycle, starring at girls with a dream of having each of them as girl friend, then chayer cup ee jhor tula at Debdoot (which became popular lately).

Yeah even I heard the sad news abotu our dearest Ranjit Sir. I still can't forget his style of teaching maths. Still laugh thinking about Umesh Sir and his stoires (Pogesh haaa.a....haaa..)

Hey do you remeber one more teacher of Govt. School "Bhom" I forgot his orginal name (excuse me for that), I still remeber is fundas.

Those golden days still make me

Hello

You all seem to love our Karimganj. You want it to prosper and want it to be peaceful and quiet and want it to be a happy place for the next generation to play and learn and grow up. But unfortunately Karimganj has so many problems ... poverty and corruption apart.
We have potential to highlight the problems at least..

Dont get me wrong... but does not Karimganj-ites have enough skills to make a separate website for addressing its concerns and have some fun strings to keep the Kxj guys/girls united ?
Silchar.com is a good site.
But will not a separate site (of our Netaji Mela land) be more focused on our Kxj?

Considering you as a gentleman

Dear Mr. Langai-Road

You have raised a real vaild point. Trust me Karimganjian and ex-Karimganjians are enough talented to host a website too. While requesting Prem about the a spearate space for Karimganj posts at Silchar.com, I thought about your point too, but was not sure how many postings or news we will come to know about Karimganj, from Karimganjians. Because without their contribution it's totally impossible and the less posts from Karimganjians in this space tells the story. I guess Karimganjians are busy with their own problems.

Poverty and corruption is a well known story of every part of India. So, no wonder Karimganj is also a part of it, and I guess talking about corruption and poverty can anyway change the situation untill and unless we or our respected politicians come out with some idea about how to deal with it. We can make hundreds of stories about corruption but when it comes to us we too prefer the short cut.

I have no idea about how to deal with it........

Well, may be you are right, kxj's do not have enough time to contribute for a site. I understand ...
What I do not understand ... is
I said 'poverty and corruption apart'  ..
What does  'Considering you as a gentleman' mean? I do not address the grammatical error, but the sarcasm ...

Anyway my idea was to have in the web site for example:

alumni for the schools
way for contribution for flood victims in our villages
news
fun
and so on....

Seems you already thought of all that and evaluated and discarded the idea ..
By the way I have no doubt you are a gentleman, since you love your city.

I think you misunderstood me. I did not want to make a mistake of calling you as Miss or Mrs. that's why I wrote "Considering you as a gentleman", because a ID like "longai-road" doesn't talk anything about your gender. I guess I did nothing wrong.

News  ??? kidding huh ???  Don't you think in the modern world of money making society no one actually have time to freelance for news of Karimganj and trust me getting news of Karimganj out of the web is not only tough but I guess it's impossible. Only way to know about Karimganj is some postings from Karimganjians or news sharing from Karimganjians. The sucess story of this Idea is infront of you, I don't think I have to talk about that either.

Yes you have got a brilliant point about a way for contributing for our fellow Karimganjian, those who need ofcourse. I think the idea of opening a web site doesn't have any synchronization with that.

Alumni for school ??? just visit Alumni.net and see how many Karimganjian you can find there ?

Trust me I have no intension to hurt you or your emotions, neither I am a negative thinker, but I am kindda upset about the whole fact that in today's technology driven world we have to keep biting nails when it comes to know about our home land. Trust me the idea is not discarded yet, but all ideas has to be supported with valid facts and points before it get discarded as immature idea. I am still collecting facts and figures. Those facts are not good enough to suggest some one, but if someone has already came out with facts then I won't be shocked to see Karimganj.com. And trust me that is going to happen very soon. Because like you karmiganj is full of gems.

Take care and all the best

I was in kxj for only three years. When I visited again last year, it was 10 years since I left the college. I stayed at the Radha guest house. In the evening I was wondering aimlessly on the roads remembering my golden college days. I didn't expect anyone to remember me. It was heartening, when the paanwala in front of the Radha cinema recognized me at the first glance. There was a tickling in my heart and I realized for the first time in my life that heart pains in joy also and what it means a tear of joy.

Hi every karimganji on the net
I am also from Karimganj, Longai Road and I really feel proud to be so. Yes its true that we have a lot of problems, but what are we all guys who are working all over the globe doing for this sweet little town of ours. I am now in Bangalore and i am sure that i will be missing my durga puja at home.
And so far as hoisting a separate site for Karimganj is concerned, well let me say that so far as i know there are only 2-3 cyber cafes currently working in karimganj and frankly speaking without the active participation of the people of Karimganj no such site can prosper.
What I propose to you all guys , the real karimganjis, that why dont we people make some sort of an NGO, which is stristly dedicated to whatever help we may carry out to the suffering people of Karimganj. Least we can try to take the message of the sufferings of our people to the respective authorities and I think in the present day of developed communication , we can easily carry out such things.
friends do u guys know that Karimganj is now having a great flood. All connectivity is lost to Shillong and Silchar. People are facing a miserable condition.
So friends please think into the matter and lets make our karimganj a much better place.
bye

HI Ravi and rexian_nostalgic.

Ravi believe me you made me nostalgic. Today morning when I got a notification that there's a new post in Karimganj section. I closed all other windows to read the quotes from those people who are really close to my heart.

Naa baa bhulchi naa Sajalda, Shankarda, badamwalla keou re. They are still very close to my heart. They are perhaps the best people in the world. Do you have any news ? I am sure you met them in your short visit. Please share. Are they all doing fine ?

Yes Rexian your suggestion is awesome. It will be really good to see any nonpolitical NGO. We can extend our hand of contribution for this best place in the planet.

Bye, take care

Hey Arpita,

Com'n chill out. They say it's their fundamental rights.

I am sure you know the idea behind having brain in between two ears. Brain works as a filter between what you hear and your heart. If brain doesn't like some thing it goes out of you using the other ear.

So, don't be upset and keep smiling

Well big daddy, who are 'they' ?

Those who are not fart-faced like you? and who do not try to act like a smart-ass everywhere they go? What do you think ... you are a self chosen leader here?

Oh my goodness,

Nothing can happen to guys like Longai Road. Com'n dude show us some maturity and stop mud singling, and learn how to talk and most important respect.

I guess because of guys like you people don't want to express their feelings. I am sure my post is not gonna stop you to express some  more stupid thought of your's you jark ass. So, you are welcome to do that I'll try to follow Sandy's funda.

I read couple of your early posts and thought you may be a matured chap. But now I can understand how worng I was you are such a cheap, horrible person. For God sake stop posting your horrible thoughts.

I too  cant find anything wrong with arpita's posting. If her english is not good, first we have to see how well verse we ourselves are. Most important thing is that, she expressed her love for kxj.

Hy guys!!!,

Am too from Karimganj. A pass-out of Kxj college. Though I have visited this site a no. of times before but havn't found anything related to Karimganj. Itz today, after a long time, that I logged in again and am glad to see the topics on Karimganj. I salute Sandy for starting the chain. The posts had a mixed impression on me. They have made me excited and emotional. I feel like closing my eyes and fly to Kxj - to my parents, my friends, the place opposite to Ganga Bhandar where we used to spend hours in the evening, the fields where I used to play Cricket, the Kxj College Auditorium and the TT Board and what not.........

Itz really sad that we are unable to reach out whenever we wish to due to our jobs etc. But amidst all the hustle and bustle, the bright lights and the big shopping malls of bigger cities that I have visited, I feel I get the ultimate peace of heart and mind whenever I am in my Karimganj.

Karimganj --- "If there is paradise on Earth, itz here itz here itz here".

Its so unfortunate that during Durga puja, we are unable to make it to Karimganj. Every year I have been trying to attend it, but every time some or the other important assignment comes up leading to cancellation of the trip. Even this year I was determined to make it, but again due to some official work, the plan was Tai Tai Fishhhhh !!!
When I talk to my parents and brother back at Karimganj and they tell me about the Puja preparations, I feel sooooooo nostalgic. I have very beautiful memories of the Durga Puja that I have spent in Karimganj for 5 years (as I stayed in Karimganj for 5 years only). The swarming of people at Station Road for shopping and Darshan, the smiles and cheer on everybody's face, the sounds of DHAK coming from different Puja pandals, little girls wearing sarees and struggling to control it, young eyes searching for opposite sex.............It used to be fun.
God knows when I shall make it to Karimganj again during Durga Puja. Hence guys, those of you who are witnessing the preparations of have knowledge of it, pls share it with us.

Hello Everybody,

I am a regular visitor at Silchar.com and also posted a number of replies in the various talk forum under the name of ArindamBose. One day when I was reading some of the articles in the “Karimganj - section” my father read some of the replies and he asked to jot down some of his school & college days memories to share it with you people. Though he is quite senior to you people

My father named is Prodyut Kumar Bose(nick name Amol). He is a septogeneration, and remembers karimganj more than any body else probably, though his stay was very short i.e. 1953 to 1957. My Grandfather was an employee of Steamer Co. My father did his schooling from Nilmoni High School (IX & X only) & college was the only college at that time Karimganj College. He used to practice Bodybuilding at Bijoyee Bayan Sangh under the leadership of Mahitosh Dass and with other Active members of the club, to name a few  Nishit Ranjan Das (Ex MLA), Ashim Sen (Retd. Professor) presently at Hailakandi, Nepal Saha (Hotelier), Dibyendu Dass (Retd. Bank Mgr), Col. Pranab Chakrabarty (Retd.) presently settled at Lucknow, M B Roy(Indian Air Force) and many more to remember, but the above mentioned names, faces are etched in his heart. He also named a few others places like Buddha Cabin, Milk Bar, Radha Cinema on station road, Chitra Bani cinema hall – Nilmoni road, Dula Babu’s House, Ramoni Monha Institute, Kalibari, Ramkrishna Mission, Longai Rd., Nati Khal and its Bridge and who can forget the seven seas of Karimganj – Shambhu sagar, Ramoni sagar, Nilmoni sagar etc.

He left Karimganj is the year 1957 to join Indian Air Force. He revisited Karimganj almost after 44 year and at that I was along with him in the year 2001. It was my first visit to my father’s childhood city and what a memorable trip it was.

Hey Arindam

Today you really made me nostalgic bro.

Convey my regards to your dad. Most of the places he talks about are still there, but few are not there anymore or may be I don't know. But I am sure they were also one of those great  places of Karimganj. Really nice to hear about those places and great people, trust me I am feeling proud to be a Karimganjian.

Hey Arindam,

Felt very good after reading ur post. Here lies the success of this website when it is not only attracting youths but the elderly people too to share their thoughts with us. Please convey my regards to your Dad.

U know, all the places that ur Dad has mentioned are very old hangouts. They are still there but indeed they have lost their earlier grandeur. Even I used to hear from my Dad how interesting and JAM JAMAT the places used to be. But now, the glory has faded. Whenever I see my Dad and his friends discussing abt the incidents when they were young, I can see a light in their eyes. And eventually during the discussion they arrive at today's scenario, I can feel their aching heart. I feel ashamed of the degrading morality and weathering away of values and culture in the youth of Karimganj nowadays. Best examples are coming soon - BIJOYA DASHAMI NIGHT and KALI PUJA NIGHT.

The intellectual elderly class has given up all hopes it seems and the fe wyoung people who have a dream in their eyes have understood that they can't realise it by staying at Karimganj - includes me too. I know its easy to criticise the worsenning situation from a distance than to get into the place and try to make a difference. But in today's world, who has the time? Everybody is busy thinking about - Amar Baari, Amar paribaar, Amar jeebon. It is 'AMAR' which doesn't let us think of 'TOMAR'. And we end up criticising the hopeless situation. everybody has their own constraints. I want to make a difference but I don't want to overcome my constraints and hence end up planning and writing big things. I pray to God to give us courage so that we can come out of our own created web and restore the lost glory of Karimganj.

Hello Sapta,

I visited Karimganj only once and also that in the year 2001 with my dad. It was such a memorable trip for me. From my childhood i visited almost every year to Silchar during christmas vacation or summer vacation but never visited karimganj.

I saw the joy in my father eyes and the child hood friends of my father.
