Dear friends In our times It was not NIT neither there was any Assam University we studied under Gauhati Uni. Grl's hostel and fifth hostel were under construction. We learnt many lessons from people around us. Here is one of them: A hard working young local guy used to sell Eggs in every hostel roming around on his cycle. We used to call him DIM_da.(English: DADA who sells egg).He was a very regular person in and around the hostel but some one noticed that he came almost months after his last vist.So we asked " What happened Dim_da? Were you sick?" Dim_da replied with 1000 watt smlie " Guja je tar_o_to suja hoyia cholte ichha hoi na ni? ( English:Hunch back pearson may like to walk up right one day isn't it? ) "what do you mean?" asked one of us. Ever smiling Dim_da replied " I married last month." No more today. Bye to every body. |

Great one Upal Da.
When I was there, it was REC under Assam Univ. I still remember Bablu Da, Jhantu-Mantu, Hira, Ratan Da (Afternoon service of food near 1st and 2nd hostel), Shyamal and Nikhil (Pan biri Cig.) etc etc. and of cource our most fav. Jakir (multipurpose). But there were a few kids too (from Fakir Tila) who used to rome around and help everybody. One of them was only 4 years old.
It was my time to say bye to the college, was packing my stuffs and those kids were really happy as they were cleaning the room and booking stuffs for them. Somebody booked my bed, sombody my NCC shoe, my heater etc etc. and then the 4 years old came and asked me "Kankan Da, Amare tumar TV igu dilaio te. Amar basat TV nai. Amar TV bejan Bhal Lage."
I still feel bad as I could not give him my Computer which was a TV to him.
