Gangulee...give us a break

Not just about losing the third test match...if one reflects upon Gangulee's performance as a batsman over the last year...I guess Gangulee's run on India should be done...atleast for the time being.
One would argue that Gangulee has been India's most successful captain...what the heck? So was Azhar before Gangulee overtook him...and one very well knows what Repercussions the inculsions of an off- form Azhar had on Indian performance...
Gangulee has become arrogant and cocky...doesnt seem to care a fig for whats going around...an odd audacity against the likes of Steve Waugh is laudable indeed...but audacity on the cricket field is not what is called for...Gangulee has been a good captain, taken. However, I dont think someone else would not have evolved into one over the years, if given a chance. You are a good captain, as long as you perform, not just as a captain, but as a cricketer as well. Else, get lost.
The point is not just about Gangulee, its about non- operformers...and Gangulee and Laxman have been non- performers over the last one year...over and over again and again...ten times over. Ofcourse, there are others, and the point is, how long will the age old Indian way of judging people by their past experirnces, pedigree continue?
This system sucks...this jerk of an incapable batsman Gangulee sucks...Sachin Tendulkar might be a good batsman...however he will NEVER be in the league of the likes of Steve Waugh...who can and has innumerable number of times saved such matches along with tail- enders...this is ingrained in our system...we will just stay there and perform when there is no pressure on us, and we will unitedely buckle down in the face of pressure...we as a nation have a weak spine...and cricket is only a reflection of that...we crumble under pressure in our day to day lives...we are never trained to face and win against pressure...
I had started with somethign else...and am finishing with something else...strayed a mile...however a test match against pakistan is something that we remember for probably 15 years...and everytime in the next 15 yrs I talk about this match, all of us will talk with a tinge of sadness...and that hurts...that sucks...and all the more right after losing one of the finest test matches in a long long time...and all because the our selectors never have shown the imagination to try and build cricketers...we win an odd one or two matches here and there...and we are made to believe by the media that all is in good health...and we believe them at their words.
Nothing for India to take from this series...other than a reaffirmation that Indian cricket, and the Indian psyche has not come out of the rotten way of glorification of the past ignoring as always the potentiality of the future...you have a good quarter and you are safe for the next three...and this sucks BIG TIME...sorry, if have hurt sentiments.
regards Rupam. |

Sometimes u need a hard kick to ur back to straighten things up. And I think we have seen enough of Ganguly underperforming each time we hope aginst hope. It is high time that fresh blood is included to the team again to revive it, which will be a clear indication to the senior players that they should not consider their place in the Indian team forgranted. The main problem with the Indian cricket team is that they rely heavily on the performance of individual players. Earlier it was Tendulkar, now it's Sehwag. Teams like Australia have great individual players, but they play more as a team rather than depending highly on the performance of individual players. Gone r the days when we could have proudly said that the Indian team is the one and only answer to the Australian cricket team. The Indian team is in dire straits now and the Australians are proving a point to other teams accross the world as why they still hold the world number 1 position |

yea..no excuses for dada the batsman...lean trot has gone on for too long... And the fact tht he is struglling to clear 30 yards circle when facing spinners when the old dada cud almost find sixes at will..means he is deifntly mentally not tere....hes never been a gr8 player of pace..but to see him struggle against spin is sad....dada the captain has been ok...without being special..but frankly the bowlers hve let him down in this series....pathan and bhajji hve been dissappinitng...not being able to make breakthroughs has been the issue..no way on Indian pitches any overseas side can survive a 5th day( mohali) or score 500 plus(bangy) if our bowlers r on song....only team which can manage his aussie..and they r probably the best ever team to walk out on a cricket field in 125 yrs of test cricket..so no shame there...a performing captain defiantly deserves more chances than a normal player but if ganguly fails this one day series we need to look to relive him....lot of youngsters....but I wud like to see kaif being given a decent run..has the belly n hunger for the top level..yuvraj is tempremantal...n I dunt think he really plays for the team.... bhajji needs to play onedayers selectively...they r ruining his bowling..tries to fire eveythin than flight n guile Sachin still has a role to play...( his innings in Mumbai angst aus n 2 knocks in kol bear testament) but he is no more our premier batsman in either test or onedayers..lets see how he responds to tht... PathaN needs to do less ads n work more on his bowling...;-) Balaji is a honest trier...limited ability ...max effort....if nehra had haf tht much guts to go wit his phenomenol talent he wud be the next akram

I think now it's the time for Ganguly to say goodbye to Indian Cricket Team and take up position in the Commentry box with the other ex-cricketers like Ravi Shastri, Manjrekar etc. |
