Dohar,a sylehti folk music group from Silchar.Probably has come up with their second cassette with Concord.First one was with Sony.
This is what The Statesman's review about Dohar's second album.
Dohar: A group of young students came to study in Kolkata from the Barak valley of Bangladesh, the area which had been made a landmark for the “bhasa” movement of the country. They brought the folklore of the North East and Sylhet districts and cultivated the same sitting in the urban situation of Kolkata. Since 1998 the group called Dohar has been performing in Bengal with competence. Its album Bandhur Deshe (Concord) is a treat for music lovers. All the subtle nuances of the folk musical tradition of Bengal have been exploited and expressed in the album by a group of five young singers in the most convincing way. Cheers to Amit, Rajib, Babla, Jayshankar and Kaliprasad.

I would like to post a VERY VERY sensitive and controversial statement now. This is "slapping a hornets nest" probably. Please excuse me for this.
The apprehension of such a day would not have been lurking in the horizon... if during 1979, all the Bengali speaking students of Assam, especially Barak Valley, had joined hands with AASU in fighting the foreigners issue.

Anyway, coming back to the thread, Dohar is an exclusive effort from a few good men...nice songs, nice music and smooth entertainment, as you listen to their renderings of Baul and other folk numbers. Hear them to believe me :) :)
