First of all greetings to all at The MahaAdda, a nice forum for silcharites.
It has been almost 2 months, cell phone have been introduced at silchar. I feel very proud that, now we have another medium of communication. Silchar is now, in no way behind from any small towns in other parts of India and I feel proud of being a silcharite.
As I stay outside, I would very eagerly like to know the effect of cell phone to teens and others… Is cell phone a status symbol there? or are people taking it as a necessity?
I would appreciate a moderate discussion.

Cell phones and PDA'S are not a status symbol any more....it's a nesessity now. Especially, for the business class, it's a boon.
You need not be in your office or home to attend calls.
But, of course, the reason for usage of cell phones are different for different demographic segments.....for a college going guy or a cheek, it's a stuff for showing off a little bit...whereas, a married guy carring the same helps his wife to catch hold of him anywhere n everywhere.

According to my information, the craze of cell phones are observed more in GC College students then REC and SMC guys. |

The students of REC and Medical will be the happiest stuff. that doesnt mean that student of GC College and Cachar College or Assam university will not use the cell phones.... they will also be using cell.
Most of the Students of GC college will use the mobile for the first in their life. So they will excited to do that as early as possible.
but the people who were using it from their childhood, the people who doesnt feel confortable without cell at their home towns, after coming to silchar they became handicapped to the lane lines. And since in our REC, people come from various states and countries around the world. they were the sufferers. after getting a mobile connection they will be the happiest stuff.....

Great, that silchar is changing... the next thing we would really like, changes in the pathetic situation of electricity & the roads.
I don’t know the present electricity scenario but guess it’s the same old story.

REC aar SMC hostel-e jara thake tarar pokkhe regular STD booth thika phone kara khub kastokar. STD booth onek dur plus seikhane lomba queue. Er lagiya regular call kara sambhab hoiya uthe na. Barshakale to aaro osubidha.
Mobile aasay student thika tarar parents-ra beshi labhaban hoichoin. They can call their daughter/son whenever they want(even multiple times a day). Jara GCC hostele thake tarar khtreo applicable......

RECians & SMCins have always been the spioled lots.... they just need a means to be noticed, both boyz n galz..... now cell phone service has provided them with a new means of "istyle mara" and ofcourse "line mara" ;)
But I dont think GC college, Cachar College, RMC & others r also following their footsteps..... they are still much more in control of their parents... not like the chara goru & shar s of REC & SMC

I quite agree with mrinb, seems he is from REC. I can understand his feeling. :)
I do agree that there are spoiled brats out there at G C college also, so as in every segment or in every college. All depends on the attitude & how u uses the advancement of technology in the best possible way. Is not?

Hello...
Nice to know that mobile is being widely used in Silchar... I will get my Mom a mobile. So I can simply send her a missed call or an sms and she would call back. That saves me a lot of money :D ;D....

A little positive comment (remark) about progress in India will be helpful because the young generations would like to hear something very encouraging notes and will probably energitize themselves to tackle some of the impossible problems or situations with their own imagination and expertise that the old generations have never seen/heard before. I think the negative comments come out of the individual person's own problem. So, God bless those who are able to see a little hope in a silver lining in the horizon in the dense black clouds in the sky. |

I didn’t comment on the purpose of your comment, that’s your personal idea and for you perhaps engineering or medical is like what is moon for Neil Armstrong. And your favourite can not be inevitably everybody’s favourite.(like me)

I agree that the language sunny123 used was very rude. But that so called 'poor guy' was blaming REC/Medical guys for "STYLE". It seems sunny123 took it to his heart. That guy was just expressing his thoughts. Also sunny123 got a little carried away in expressing his thoughts.... Now same thing happened with Shaan too.... He "ASSUMED" sunny123 is from REC/Medical and used rude language against sunny....

Cool down guys. Don’t get excited. Yes I do agree that sunny123 had used rude language while expressing his views, might be he was carried way by the comments of other guys and took too seriously.
I suggested sunny123 not to use such language & I am sure he took my suggestion positively & hope he will be more modest in future.
You might have noticed while starting the thread I mentioned “I would appreciate a moderate discussion” and also Admin has mentioned at the top of the room “The main discussion room of the MahaAdda. Please keep it clean.” So it would be better if we keep The MahaAdda clean and make it nice discussion forum for all.

obviously, no one is complaining about the cell phone's impact.
It's getting popular nowadays. Can you imagine the old fashioned people carry the cell phone in their pocket? I carry the email pager too and will hope to get better one (tv plus cell phone) soon to be able to watch and to call at the same time. |

I feel very happy to inform that by this year end we are going to see some more private telecom operators launching their services in Silchar......Bharti Telecom has already got the permission for the 19th circle which is north east, so as Reliance Infocomm...... |

Just wanted to know one more stuff regarding the cellular service in Silchar.......how's the coverage....are the phones working in entire "Barak Valley" including Hailakandi and Karimganj or is operational only within the periphery of Silchar? |
