I like some of Rajesh khanna,s film like                 Prem Nagar........specially the song ye lal rang kab mujhe chore ga              Amar Prem ,its a outstanding movie having the melodious song...........kuch to log kahenge ,logo ka kaam hain kehna ,choro baker ki batoon mein kahi beet na jaye raina                 Do raaste,its also a very good  movie.                Then kati patang and specilly the touching song........pyar deewana hota hain mastana hota hain          then Anurodh.................ate jaate khubsoorat awara sarko pe ,kabhi kabhi ittefaq se kitne anjaan log mil jate hain un mein se kuch log bhul jate hain kuch yaad rehain jate hain.....oh what a song, actually liked the tune very much.     One movie I liked a lot based on a very bold theme Kya Kehna.........starring Pretty Zinta , Chandra chuur singh and Saif ali khan ,I guess that was Pretty's first film ............this film touched me a lot.   Yes one rajesh khanna's film Aap ki kasamm , very nice one and the songs ek se barkar ek.   Okay my friends you will now get bored of me so signing off, rest on another day.     movie-goer Guest Re:  Bishoy:Mone Rakhar Hindi Cinema..   «on: 09/04/04 at 04:45:32 »    my ratings of mainstream hindi movies - 1) Madhumati(Dileep Kumar,vijaynthimala) - this is a type of movie alongwith Mahal which gives the usual horror movie an extraordinary Indian spin, with reincarnation and love becoming part of it.Its awesome.And who can forget the songs suhana safar aur yeh mausam haseen, aaja re pardesi etc. 2) Guide(Dev Anand, Waheeda Rehman) - a Hindi movie where the characters had a very real touch to them and also were 3) Deewar(the old Amitabh classic, not the new one which is crap) - the best Amitabh movie, imo. its lot more then just his angry young man stereotype. 4) Sholay - no greater or likeable villain then Gabbar has ever made into Hindi cinema. 5) Parinda(jackie Shroff, anil kapoor, nana patekar, madhuri dixit) - a masterful story telling effort.its not the usual formula of Hindi cinema. 6) Satya(Manoj Bajpai etc.) - there has never been another Bhikhu Mhatre in Hindi movies. 7) Gol Maal (Amol Palekar, Utpal Dutta) - man, does it make me laugh  ;D ;D 8) Anand - its unbelievable how a real tear-jerker can be so positive and negative at the same time.Rajesh Khanna gives death a very positive spin but by making himself so likeable just shatters everybody else with his death. 9) Dil Chahta Hai - nice entertainer.very modern and captures the modern urban Indian youth. 10) Do Bigha Zameen(Balraj Sahni) - Balraj Sahni's acting in this movie is one of the best I have ever seen in Hindi movies.     movie-goer Guest Re:  Bishoy:Mone Rakhar Hindi Cinema..   «on: 09/04/04 at 05:05:42 »    oops forgot to complete the sentence for "Guide". Bollywood style suspense hoilo 'Mera Saaya' with those awesome songs... Hera Feri (both the new one and the bachchan khanna starrer, though I would consider the newer one to be better in terms of humour, and very very good humour at that...) Hera feri, the newer one was actually one of its kind in its time...it brought in a newer kind of comedy, subtle yet pronounced, ostentatious without being monotonously irritating...and wit based on the enactments and repartees of the actors, rather than the johnny lever- ish kind of humour...which once in a while is bearable and funny even, but throughout the entire course of the movie would be a sure call to aspirin. ::) :-[ :o heraferi r colour mixing, camera movements, directiron etc was also a little different than the other movies of the day...tar pore arekta cinema hoise with similar ambiance...yeh tera ghar yeh mera ghar...those similar colour- combinmations, shot angles, lights etc...all seemed to be an extension of heraferi. heraferi ami bejan bar dekhsi...ekbar Bombay thkiya Mahabaleswar jairam ghurat...amra choy jon...jawar shomoy bus o ei cinema ta lagailo...awaar somoy o dekhlam ei cinema tai lagailo...ami conductor ita re jigailam je partner, same cinema kene jawa awaar somoy... An Indian bahu torn between saving their sasural's pride and truth. The film had several things going for it... Superb storyline, superb acting, and astonishing dialogues. Meenakshi Seshadri is chased by goons, after having been declared a lunatic and sent to a mental asylum, where she managed to escape from...now she had men chasing her, trying to get her back to the asylum...she keeps on runnung for her life, the men closing in...and then she suddenly bumps on to someone... ekta neel shirt er upore...shirt ta ghurlo aste aste...dekha gelo... Sunny Deol... :D the crowd had gone berserk inside the theatre...ek haath taali shuru hoilo naani...are logee ashe pashe dialogue... "mar sunny bhai mar mar...shuor itare mari falai de...." "ouu aise juan, ouu bujhta itaay" "ouu amrish puri igu e khaito....shuor err shuor...sunny r loge panga ni, ouu khaibe haala" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D te ita dialogue baji shuru hoilo...maane sunny's entry ita unexpected asil...bhaba gese na...and it was really a very drammatic entry...let loose an undercurrent of emotions from the public...I am sure, any other theatre in any other part of the country would have behaved in a similar fashion...this is why Hindi movies still serve as a social fabric that tie us together...they appeal to people's hearts and emotions, which in a  way are similar, be it in Silchar or in Bangalore...an amazing chord which our movies so often fail to tap, but once in a  while, like in Damini, they do successfully...one sure way to a blockbuster hit. irokom frenzy from the public dekhsilam aro ek ta cinema t...Border...jokhon Sunny bhai e juddher age koi... abhi kisiko yeh maidan chhod ke bhagna hai to chala jay, lekin iske bad koi mujhe dhagte hue dika to mai use goli mar dunga, aur wahe- guru ki kasam main agar kisiko bhagte hue dikh gya to mujhe goli mar dena ek pent- up emotion asil nani scene ta t...asta Oriental cinema hall chitkair diya uthlo...amaar eidin electrical machines na kitar porikkha asil...jothariti porikkha ta baje hoise...tee ami are koek jon cinema dekhat aislaam porikkha ta diyaa...eii scene dekhiya amaar mone ase...ami are shankhapani koriya amaar bondhu ek loge chitkar dislaam... "mar mar shala pakistani itare...mari phalai de" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D oriental o er pore ja shuru hoisil...bejan manushe chitkar deoa arombho korlo... ekk scene naani... My personal favourite at direction has always been a gentleman called Rajkumar Santoshi. I am sure people would have different says, but Rajkurar Santoshi, in my mind, has given us some of the most entertainingg films over the last one decade... Damini, Ghayal, Ghatak, Pukar, Andaaz Apna Apna, Chinagate, and the movie that I have liked the most this year so far- Khakee. Each of these movies could be written about in as many words as I have used for Damini...even much more by people who are in the know... ghayal to ami sure bahot manusher er favourite list err prothom tin er moidhye thakbo... pukar is an equally good movie...though it started picking up only after the entertainment tax on it was removed and that also took substantial amount of lobbying...similar with Bhagat Singh movie which also was a Rajkumar Santoshi project. Chinagate did not fiund favours with the public...understandable...a movie that had a good enough story line, about men getting their long lost honour back...but movies on honour and stuff do not have much of a purchase on the public in India...though chamma chamma remain a watershed item- number in Hindi films. Rajkumar Santoshi proved his versatality beyond doubts when he made Andaz apna apna considered by mane to be the funniest movie in the lst fifteen years... Listing here some of my favourite ones. 1) Sholay - My all time favourite hindi movie...name one aspect of life it didn't had.Comedy...those scenes involving Dharmendra & Hema Malini.Emotion...a serene Jaya Bhaduri giving a lost look.Treachery...Gabbar Singh and his gang.Action...that train fight sequence.Passion...Sanjeev Kumar at his best dialogues.Name it and you have it in Sholay.It was incidently,it was the very first hindi movie that I saw...can watch it everyday.   2)Yaad Rekhegi Duniya - Aditya Pancholi...cancer patient...his girlfriend also cancer patient...but both never told each other...emotion at it's best. 3)Kunwara Baap - Mehmood in a devastatingly serious role...it let me cry in the end. 4)Abhimaan - Amitabh & Jaya...unforgettable. 5)Anand - Babu Moshai,yeh zindagi...Rajesh Khanna at his best with everlasting songs..."kahi door jab din dhal jaye..." 6)Izzazat - Nasseruddin,Shabana Azmi,Simi Grewal...what a beauty with touching melodies..."Mera kuch saaman tumhare paas pada hai". 7)Khamoshi - Waheeda,Rajesh Khanna...a song I would like to mention,"Humne dekhi hai in aakhon ki mehakti khushbo,haath se choo ke ise rishto ka ilzam na do". 8)Mili - Big B...Jaya..."Aaye tum yaad mujhe." 9)Parinda - Indian viewers first introduction with the underworld. 10)Saudagar - Amitabh as a sacrosse (Gur) maker...and Nutan...amazing screenplays. 11)Kaun - A Ram Gopal Verma film...without a single song...a pshyco-thriller with Urmila Matondkar. 12)Mr. & Mrs. Iyer - Rahul Bose...Konkona...Aparna Sen directed...deserved for all the awards it got. 13)Teen Deewarien - Nasseruddin,Om Puri,Gulshan Grover.Till the last moment is is not clear who is the real culprit...will keep you tied throughout the movie. 14)Maine Pyar Kiya - Salman Khan...Bhaygashree...it changed the outlook of many a few young lovers. 15)Masoom - Nasseruddin,Shabana...so engrossing tale. 16)Machhis - A Gulzar movie...exceptionally directed with excellent screenplays. 17)Border - Rupam has mentioned it in a very subtle manner.Wonderful movie with the longest ever war scene in Hindi cinema.Remember that open eyed death of Akshaye Khanna.It gave the Longewala front of 71 War a unique way to reach the public.Sunny with his motivating stuff..."Mathura Das,ayinda kabhi marne ki baat nahi karna,jung marke nahin,dushmonon ko maarke jeeti jati hai." 18)Dhadkan - "Anjali,mein tumhe bhool jaun,yeh ho nahi sakta aur tum mujhe bhool jao,yeh mein hone nahi doonga". 19)Jism - It changed the way directors in Bollywood used to treat sex...it is the most taboo subject in films...no director likes to take it frontseat...but everybody wants it.We are all hypocrites in accepting it...but Pooja Bhatt did it...redefined the way we treated sex in hindi movies.John Abraham..."Awaarapan,Banjarapan eik sila hai seene main". 20)Devdas - Have seen it not less than 30 times...Shahrukh...Madhuri...Aishwarya...the dialogues were wonderful..."Kaun Kambhakt Jeene ke liye piita hai,Hum to pite hein ki hoosh kho dey,par hamari paro ki yaad hai ki hame hosh bhi khone nahi deti". Jody no.1!!! bagera..bagera....     Nar Guest Re:  Bishoy:Mone Rakhar Hindi Cinema..   «on: 09/13/04 at 00:21:29 »    Hello All, Since we are talking about memorable Hindi movies, I would like to talk about some very few, yet, important war movies of Bollywood.  Although, a lot of movies have not been made in this genre, a few that stand out, i.m.h.o, are Haqueeqat (b/w *ing, a very young Dharmendra, Balraj Sahani, and Amjad Khan's father) based on the 1962 Indo-China war.   Hindustan Ki Kasam (*ing Amjad Khan, Raj Kumar, et al) based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war, with good sequences of dogfights over Pakistan, Border (*ing Sunny Paji, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, et al) great attempt by Mr. J.P Dutta tank sequences were great. And coming to the most recent Lakshya directed by Farhan Akhtar, although, not an out and out war movie, beautiful images of IMA campus, battle sequences realistically depicted the chaos of battle, and the use of Paki tracers against Indian soldiers was great becoz, thats what they did during night times in Kargil, from what I read back then.   Also, the sequence when Hritik etc. are going towards the base of the mountain for the final assault they reacted first when they came across the terrorists guarding that approach.  That was great  ;D The 'Mission Impossible'/ 'Cliffhanger' stunts were very good to say the least  8) I think more movies should be made of this genre which will lessen the existing divide between military and civilian populace in India.  I.M.H.O in the past there has not been enough coverage in the media about the Indian soldier, and the ultimate sacrifices made by them.  I have to say that this trend is changing, albeit slowly, since Kargil.   That was my two cents. I liked Devgan in "Khakee", he does make a good villain. I liked him in "Divyashakti"...and of course ZAKHM and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, saw equally good performances from him. He has over the years evolved as an actor who you can rely on to carry your movie, provideed you give him the right kind of roles. veeru Devgan should be more than happy. "ek ruka hua faislaa" if you have not seen it, make sure you do at the earliest. I can bet my life on the fact that you are going to like it, inside ou. What powerful acting, what powerful dialogue, and what a mesmerising script...simple settings, simple plot, and an amazing tale of a movie extremely well made. "dhund" is a good movie, you might like it, if you have a penchant for mystrey. talking of war movies, I am not sure anyone in Hindi has done justice to the potential, other than JP Duta in "Border." True, war movies have been made in Hindi, but hardly they can claim to be full- blown "war " movies... the point is, if you are mnaking a war movie, you better have the plot on the battlefield...and not on some sarson ka khet, where hero herioune run and sing...and do what not...pointless. Border had some of these, but in relative terms, it also had the maximum time devoted to the battlefield when one makes a comparison with the similar movie that had come earlier... Naseeruddin's movie referred here is SPARSH. Junoon which is made in early eighties..stars Shashi Kapoor I think. Now apart from horror movies, one film I liked a lot and that is Pinjar starring Urmila, Sanjay Suri, Prianshu Chatterjee and Manoj Bajpai and others. Yes Mrinmoyda Anand is an evergreen movie , I liked that song of anand ........kahin dur jab din dhal jaye                                 sannj ki dulhan badan churaye                                        chupke se aye. Probably it meant that the cancerous lymphocytes undergoing metastasis into tissues of intestinal wall. Basically circoma also refers to the cancer of connective tissues. It has our bengali actress Debosree roy also and a bengali actor I don't know his name. Fantastic performance by Mrs. Jeniffer Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor er late wife. Not only that, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Debosree Roy and Sony Rajdan also performed well. Typical Calcutta way of dating is shown. And to think that I've made just one measly teeny-weeny contribution to this thread during its infancy...not that it really matters  ;D ;D 36,Chowringhee Lane cinema-tar kotha onek din dhoriya sunchilam...finally saw it about 2/3 weeks back...some channel was showing it...don't remember which...I guess Set Max / Zee Cinema...I was really shocked to see a totaly non-Bengali channel airing a cult Bengali ( well, almost ) film. Besh bhala laaglo cinema-ta...as Asiti-da said...the typical Calcutta dating game, sights and sound of Calcutta, the psyche and mannerisms and wit of a Shakespeare loving Bengali ("aatel" o kowa jaito pare  ;D) and his girlfriend... Now probably not that relevant...what with greater incomes, mobile phones, the internet and a jet-setting lifestyle...but I guess for a major section of the Bengali middle-class, the film is still very easy to relate to. I was in Kolkata 2 days after I saw the film and our office was being  shifted that day from very close to the ITC office ( 37,Chowringhee) to Tata Centre...addresses were being changed and stuff were being moved...I somehow was trying to relate to the film and the present... I realized that I probably liked the Calcutta potrayed in the film...probably it told us of a time when Kolkata wasn't that familiar to me...a time when we all had much less expectations, had seen and known much less...sort of more innocent than we are now...I guess we are, along with our cities, losing a lot of our innocence...makes me think at times..... I watch films for two reasons, when its a classic or when I dont have anything to do. Obviously, there are two genre of movies that I have watched and liked. From the commercial films category, I like a film the most which was made before I was born and till date when it is shown I try not to miss it. Its none other than the cult action masala film Sholay. Prob. the best tribute to the film was the dialogue of Shahrukh in Oh Darling Yeh Hai India, (Oh God!, why was the film made?) although in a jocular manner "Main Andha Hoon, Kyun Ki Maine Sholay Bhi Nahi dekha." Of the more serious genre, the films I remember are Paar, Sadma, Ardhsatya, Drohkaal, Machis and a few of the films of Gulzaar. And what wud u call the recent "apart from the rest" films. Well to go with a few western movies that have been my long time fav. Wizard of Oz ( Everything a child can love were present in abandon..later realized the musical value of this movie .. pink floyd, elton john... ah so fluent judy garland) If I talk of musical, then I should also mention Sound of Music, Gugababa, Fuleswari ( a simple movie, once I was watching in TV and I could so easily identify myself with the scenes!!) 12 o'clock high - friends from MBA must have seen the movie as a part of leadership lesson. But I liked it for different reasons - world war was never depicted in a subtler way. Haqueqat  - One from Chetan anand..which again had scenes those were truly international. Pyasa - A protagonist is Guru Dutt can well be the story of yet another shantiniketani bong!!! But I liked the songs, sahir ludhiyanvi and guru dutt. ( Kagaj ke phhol is a bit too slow for my patience and understanding, but critics say it was marvelous) Forest Gump - Simple story telling can be so beautiful. I hope Bollywood learns it sooner, these days... He tries to orchestrate an extar marital affair of his heroine Tamanna who walks out of closed door into the limitless horizon. Problem starts once he tries to use his beautiful better half Antara(Aishwarya Rai) as protagonist of his novel and pushes her into an extra marital affair with the new photography teacher Zayed Khan in the college. But question is.. I.Is Sanjay Dutta is right? II. If Aishwarya feels that she is not doing the correct thing then why does she do that? No more serious stuff.. Bechara Zayed Khan bemout mara gaya...bachelors be careful !!! all Ash are around us .....I feel in every romantic movie, director should give statuary warning like tobacco that "GUYS  DON'T FALL IN LOVE ! That I believe is my only takeaway from the movie, awesome quote. One from Sharaabi, where Amitabh Bachchan after having relinquished his property, finds it hard to buy alcohol, and says... That day ,I baked four batches of raisin bran muffin and they didnot turn out well as I  put less sugar.It was not worth the trouble.Tarpore icecream diya khaite hoilo. And Synclaire_beauty,preheating is of course a must for baking.The oven has to be preheated till it reaches a desired degree of heat and that particular degree has to be maintained throughout ;)  ;D ;D.Then only,it will really be golden and crispy.Hope you know what I mean ;).
