Hi, I am Parag an MBA from AUS(1999-01) presently residing in Delhi. I think it will be great if all MBA's from AUS join me in sharing their experiences time to time and make it more eventful and memorable.
                       with love,

It was a great adda point for the great budding managers of '99-2001 batch . Ist semester was --------greatly affected by interpersonal skills and seriousness of the students( Ke Kare dekhaite pare), (humse badkar kaun??)  Our former Dean , Prof. S.S. Khanka preached the mantras of marketing in his own style , catering to the interest of  all addabaaj, he used to relate to common instances of life ----umbrellas manufactured in siliguri---etc. to explain marketing ;D cigarette-----referred to as sweta dandika, wine as kuch kuch hota hai!.
Again came the class of Dr. A.K.Das Mahapatra, the present HOD and Reader who used his tricks and unpleasant ways of spreading terror in the minds of the buddies to rule over their hearts and minds. We used to take him very seriously unless and until -----
Again Dr. R.K. Raul, with his unique way of expressing his feelings and talking to the students (ooof !!, yeh kaishe ho gaya bhai !!, etc. cast a magical spell on the students and everyone used to enjoy his class( not the contents, i mean Accounting for Managers, which was all bodyline bowling for us).
Then came Mr. Y.V. Rao(  sitdowngoodmorning, the response came to the good morning sir thrown by the students. He was so serious that his class used to run over time and we used to sleep and yawn in the class.
Again the most important (less) person will be insignificant if not personified--------, ::) he is none other than Mr. Arup Barman(apme) who used to teach Managerial Economics. But his ways of teaching, getting stuck at times (apme apme) made it even more boring .
Please don't take them so seriously b'cos there was nothing critical , but only the lighter side explained.
Next suggestions and comments sought from the MBA's .
              ---------to be continued.

Those memorable days

Hi frens

Thanks Parag for taking the initiative in getting us re-united thru this adda. What if there's no more Motilal adda!!! we can do it thru this maha adda. But where are other guys of our gang? Do they know abt this adda? If not, lets try to disseminate this info to all.
I am in bangalore right now and miss those hungamas we used to have every day. Those get-togethers every now and then. Truelly speaking, we just needed a simple cause to arrange for a party among ourselves. But gone are those days.
What abt our juniors? Must be busy thinking how to get 1 mark more than the other. But, let me tell you, this doesn't work at all. All of us who are out of Silchar, by now, must have experienced, what a struggle for job is...(even after getting into a job).

BTW, I am going to home sweet home :D next week. Will collect news from silchar and update u abt our gr8 department.

Get going the Adda in full form.
Good Luck !!!

Hi Parag
thanks for reminding those wonderful days. I don't know about others but for me those two years were the best in my life. To be frank those two years changed my entire life and gave me a new inspiration to start afresh.
How could you forget the journey by university bus from Rangirkhari to univ. Wasn't it great?  Sitting with jayasmita, tubu and our manishadi and enjoying antakshri with mistu. it was great. Also always we used to feel tensed as the bus approached Cachar College as  Miss colourful(remember---red,green.blue) would catch the bus there and one of us had to vacate our seat if the bus was full. (sorry kutty). Also do you remember all those childish comments of tubu----"sob bachharare marilaibo". For me that bus journey was even more enjoyable than the university classes.
I will come up with more next time. I would like to thank manisha and rajyashree for contributing. This adda must definitely go on.
                                      bye everybody.

Hi everybody,
well rajyashree though i was tensed i loved giving my seat to u and will also do so in the future. It would have been great if we all could go back to silchar and again study in the univ for two years so that we can relish those moments once again. What do you think?
Yeah i got a job but feeling very sad :( as i would have to go for 15 days to a very remote place called Umbergaon, situated in the Maharashtra-Gujrat border for trainning. There is no cyber cafe there and i can't access the net to come to this page and feel nostalgic about our passed days. But thats life and maybe for this only we studied.
Will get back to all soon.

Hello everybody
right now i am in gujrat for my trainning upto 25th of this month. But luckilly there is internet facility available here. So i am feeling better. Actually i am in an exile within an exile. Already i am miles away from my parents and my beloved. And on top of that now i have to stay here for 15 days in this remote place. Feeling really down as can't speak bengali here, can't have rice etc.  But have to adjust as this is life. To gain something we have to loose something. Isn't it?
But to be frank i believe everyone should go through this stage in one's life as it teaches many thing and is also necessary for one's personality dev.   For example see I can cook nowadays, I can speak different languages etc.
While coming here from delhi my train touched Godhra and Vadadora stations. It was very emotional getting down at those stations and talking to the few locals who r still there( everything there is destroyed and deserted). The emotions of all the passengers were boiling but we had to control ourself as being indian we r supposed to be"SECULAR" >:(.  Don't know when we indians will change.
By the way how r u all? Manisha u must be feeling great meeting your family members after a long time. Rajyashree pls. stick to your job and don't return however bad u might be feeling. Everything will be ok. Have patience.
Well anirban thanks for remindind me those wonderful days but yaar nowadays i don't open  :'(any new deptt. or universities.
             bye everybody and keep posting.

hello friends!
back again after a long gap but frankly speaking i was really surprised at the overwhelming response of yours at the beginning and suddennly i find everything as cool as a cucumber as Mr. siddhu sometimes refers to, any way..........
came second semester and the real fight was over by now as the new battle field was beginning in the marks jargon! ;) started the game of politics and conspiracy-------
started the involvement of our so called (gods) in the matters and private life of students.
:D the mood had changed from seriousness to bunking of classes and making visits to gandhimela and cinema and the first social week also made the mood more luxurious.again came the period when AIM-QUEST was on the cards and politics and controversy came to the throat. any way one was to sacrifice and fortunately this time the sword came straight on the junior batch and they decided to hold a separate function themselves in order to celebrate the millennium's first leap year. so came rounds of meetings and controversies and it continued till the end of the programme which was a big success(for us) as the whole university was made to a standstill by the deptt. of business admn.
:P next the study part was ok other than some small love-stories which sprang from nowhere and continued to rule over the hearts of every one concerned---------
some day or the other they had to end and a tragic end came as the hero was totally outbursted by the heroine in ruthless manner(joking) thanks to the class who also got some entertainment.then came the big fight ------
it was regarding summer placement and it was really a hazardous situation and specially the deppt. could not do anything rather than prepare some letters and pads and the students really began to take control of the centre as it was their wish which could take them to the industry!
thank god atlast everything was ok and everyone got placed somewhere or the other :'( :'
             ------------- will continue
with love and warmth of delhi,
                              @};-parag.

How r u all????????????
«on: 05/21/02 at 03:09:55 »

Hi Guys !!!!!

How r u all doing? It's pretty interesting to see a mail from TUBU. So at last she found time to say hi ! to all. Thanks Tubu for ur message. So how r guys in Delhi doing. Think getting boiled in the heat, right? Be careful with ur food and look after ur health.

Oh I had been to our deptt. this time. all r doing fine. A.K.D.M is transferred to Sambhalpur University, Orissa. So only three of them in Deptt. All the faculty has asked all of us to help juniors to get summer placement in some companies. So if u have any contacts, please do help them out.........

It had been raining cats and dogs all thru, so cud not move around much. The sad part is ....the day I left for bangalore, Tubu reached Silchar. So cudn't meet her. Anyway got the news that she will call me up. But not yet. Probably she cannot get the connection to me ??? Yeah somehow I got the informatio taht she is doing well with her job. So that's really good Tubu !!!!!!

Yesterday just a small panga with my HR, manager. So was a bit upset. Today she asked sorry and sab thik ho gaya. Kya he na.....kabhi kabhi dimag zyada garam ho jata hain. But all is fine now.

BTW, Raj heard that u r leaving bangalore in june? I tried to contact u, but ur hostel phone is always engaged.

Ok guys, take care. Bye for now.

Hi! everybody,
posting after a long time. Hope all of you are well. Yes manisha you r right about tubu but i hope she continues her postings and the earlier one doesn't become---"once in a blue moon" :P
So manisha its good to hear that u r feeling better now after that panga. Deemag ko cool rakhna seekho 8)  For all of us its our first foray into the employment scene. I know it will be difficult for all of us to adjust initially. We are not used to all these. But with time everything will be ok. Besides remember that in corporate world there is no place for emotions or sentiments. We will have to take everything in our stride.
Good to hear about the recent developments in our department. So from now on our juniors life will not be made---"HELL" as the devil has left. :D   Yes i think if possible we certainly should help our juniors in getting  summer placements.
Well raj its good that u will be in silchar after a long gap but that shouldn't stop u from sending your postings here. OK?
Well it's really hot out here in delhi, unbearable. Hope the monsoon comes soon.
bye for today and take care

:D.....Comm..on Raz...rather than giving the right answer ..i guess the lines "by the by i did my MBA (finance and marketing) from IIM,AMEDABAD" was only the bottomline ....

Whether its Harvard ..or IIM..or Assam University ....what i experienced is ..A journey of a thousand miles, begins with but a single step...

So should we make it a point unnecessarily to emphasis where we  groomed ourselves !!

Will like to see your answer dear !

Dear son Raj,
is this what i taught u in your younger days.Shame on you. I think you got a good reply from Harvard guy. Learn from him what is modesty. Inspite of studying in harvard he has down to earth nature---and it should be. Also son u have brought down the reputation of IIM. In india students of IIM's are considered as the best and the leaders. They are supposed to have leadership qualities and are beleived to take initiative in any given situation. So though the question was posed for someone else, u should have answered it without giving any rubbish excuses. By the way do u really know the answer????? Hope so!!!!
And Mr. Peter,  don't u think it will be good if u give your identity and the purpose of your query. I hope u are also from IIM or may be any B-school abroad. Still u don't know the answer like my spoiled son raj. :'(
ok i hope i will be able to pass on the good lessons to my other childrens... :(  ok bye till then.

Hi all!
yes rajyashree, u r very much right. We should take care that this section doesn't become a junk like others. The very purpose of this section was to unite all AU's who are scattered around india, so that we can share our experiences and keep alive our friendship. Others can of course contribute but with a constructive motive.
By the way a new friend has joined us in Delhi---------Saptarishi, and he has brought along with him rain :D Feeling much releived now here as the weather has become a bit pleasant. Another great news--Dibakar is also coming here on 22nd of this month. So we will have a great adda.
By the way how r u all? Keep in touch
bye

Hello!!!!!!

Posting after a long time. Am sorry, I was busy these days. When I logged in today, I was surprised to see all the  messages. Please, it's a request ............. don't spoil this adda. It was an initiative to reunite all of us whereever we are, not for pulling each other's leg.

Anyway, Shan good that u people are gathering a big group out there. Anirban, heard from u after a long time. Yeah our deptt is all the same. But u r right, no other can have fun the way we had. Anyway, Silchar is good and it was nice visiting after a long time. Will mail u soon. Tell me how's ur job going on.

Hey !!! why don't u guys come to bangalore for a trip. It would be great if all of us meet again.

Bye, take care.

Dear All MBA,s of AU ...i enjoy a lot reading your experiences  ambitions ..plans , voyage and struggles....the stories which though remotely should matter me now but reading them ..somehow relates me to the place where perhaps my roots lies. But my sincere apology to all if i have anyway turnished the decoram of this platform while replying to Mr Razdeep Endow.....

I replied because i could smell a vanity and snobbish ego of "IIM" brand speaking more than what he wants to say. What was the justification of that declaration(i am from IIM! )People out there at Silchar must have struggled hard to make a career and since everybody is not born with a silver spoon or bag full of right opportunities (that Razdeep might have been fortunate enough to get !)....i guess they did the best in their perspective and now they are proving themselves everywhere and if i read between the lines in all the postings here...they are really promising ! I am optimistic that some day these people will too work miracles .....and i am happy and hope they do not suffer from the alter ego that razdeep harbours about "Leading a division at 30 !".....Its good to be proud of individual achievements but its not a worth appreciation that you flash your tag to emphasise something than what you really have to say......
I apolozize once more to one and all who feel i have done wrong by participating in such a discussion! And razdeep i will be happy to reveal my identity ..but i doubt what good it will do other than spiralling to another controversy!I am presently doing my course on manufacturing and industrial management at harvard and i am 26 ..and i see buzzing crowd of talents who are humble about their abilities and achievement and sensitive to achievements  of others.Hope you will come out of the "IIM hallucination"..and know that the world and words you know is not enough !

The Harvard Guy

and brand value and brand loyality are the same term, means value of the brand... so probably mr.peter was trying to confuse everyone. am i rt. mr. rajdeepda or  mr. havard guy ?

Hello everybody,
thanks harvard guy for your encouraging words. I could feel that u couldn't resist yourself after going through the posting of raazdeep. It's OK. Hope in future u will share your experiences with us which definitely will help us and our juniors.
Miss Mahua i can't fully agree with your explanation on brand value and brand loyalty. How can they be the same terms. Let me explain what i feel, though i may be wrong--------
Firstly a brand is a type of product manufactured by a particular company and value is "worth" of something. A Brand also says something about the producer's values. Thus, Mercedes stands for high performance, safety, prestige, and so on. This is what i feel is brand value.
Whereas brand loyalty  is the tendency of customers to continue buying the same brand. For example Mr. X intending to buy Colgate tooth paste in a store, findind it to be out of stock, will walk out of the store to buy it elsewhere rather than switch to an alternative product.
Manisha, we here in delhi, will certainly try to make a trip to bangalore to meet u. It's my promise to u.
Bye for now...
Santanu.

Hi everybody,
after a long time somebody has brought the whole matter to an end.I hope Mr. Peter will be happy with the aswer given by Santanu-and if not, then I request Mr. Peter to go through some books to find a better explanation.
For the last few days I am watching that all the guys(eg,Rajdeep,The harvard Guy and others)are trying to make their image by telling a lot about themselves, but nobody dared to give the right answer-its really sad as well as bad.No doubt the question was directed to parag, but does it mean it must be answered by Parag only.If someboy thinks he/she can answer better,he/she should have tried to quench the thirst of Mr. Peter-but no! it didn't happen. Its my request to all of you-if you have any question ask,but don't direct it specifically to somebody;ask in a general way so that each and everybody can share his/her views.
Another thing I like to stretch upon-this particular section was created by Parag to reunite  the guys from Assam University, MBA deptt-so pease don't spoil the very bottomline of this section.I am not resisting others to join this section-but with a good reason-not to show his/her superiority complex, his hi-fi background.
Well Mr. Peter, can you just tell me something about yourself-who?where from?what are u doing?etc. It is because after giving rise so much controversy, you didn't write anything and we are just passing comments to each other. In other words, you are the cause of everything-don't mind but this is the truth.
Well, now I think, all are happy and I  thank the Harvard guy for his encouraging words.
Bye For Now.

dear santanu,u r wrong , .brand value doesn't have any relation with performance.performance and value does n't  goes together. it is clearly value of that brand. .. if u see performance than rolls royace is much better quality than mercedez . but due to good promotions on brand building for last 100 years mercedes is always considered as premium brand...but brand value is much lesser than rolls royace...

and my dear anirban de ,pl. don't give us a impression that this platform is precisely for au's. o.k. iam from silchar and it gives me lot of enthu' sharing my views in this platform. so, give ur constuctive views instead of giving "funda" ,don't mind ....... this is a honest advice

Hi everybody,
Hope all of you are in the good mood.
So miss Mahua,in your opinion I am giving "funda".Yes,I am giving "funda".Do you know why-b'coz,nobody is happy for whatever is going on in this section for the last few days and I feel its time to stop all these things.
Another thing I like to tell you-you have misinterpreted my words.I said "this particular section was created by Parag to reunite the guys from Assam University, MBA deptt-so pease don't spoil the very bottomline of this section.I am not resisting others to join this section-but with a good reason-not to show his/her superiority complex, his hi-fi background."
Now tell me-what does it mean?Does it mean you are not welcome to this section?
As you said you are senior to me-so I firmly believe you can understand the meaning of this very sentence.-Bye-have a good day.

Hi everybody
well mahua thanks for your view point. But i think u have slightly mis interpreted my explanation. I never said value and performance goes together. I only said performance(one amongst many other attributes) of a product only adds up to the value of the product. Value here doesn't mean anything in the monetary sence. But in anyway also brand value and brand loyalty can't be the same thing. Isn't it?
Anyway thanks for participating in a constructive manner. I look forward for more views from your side because i feel by discussing through such a forum only we will develope our knowledge.

in an eveready battery, there is a picture of a cat and the no. 9. why does this signify ?
brand value means " value of that brand" clearly monetary terms.
brand loyality means  of course repeat use

Hi everybody,
Hope all of you are fine.So after a long time a lot of answers to the question  raised by Mr. Peter are coming out.But I feel nobody is fully satisfied with the answers and hence a lot of arguments are taking place. So I want  to share  my opinion in this regard.
Firstly,
WHAT IS  BRAND?
Brand is a name/term/sign/symbol/design or a combination of them, intended to identify the goods or services of one seller or a group of sellers and to differentiate them from those of competitors. It can be a name or trademark or logo or other symbol.
WHAT IS VALUE?
Value is the  bundle of benefits customers expect from a given product or service. So,value addition to the products/services is the prime objective of any producer in the present marketing context.
WHAT IS LOYALTY?
Inclination of the consumers to a particular product/service.It shows to what extent a customer is loyal to a partiular product/brand/service.
WHAT IS BRAND VALUE?
In simple terms this is the value of a particular brand. This value is built up over the years.I am citing the same example given by Santanu.Whenever the term”Mercedes” is pronounced, a different type of impression is developed in the minds of the people. This value(or impression)was built up by promotion, advertisements etc.It might be true that Rolls Royce is better than Mercedes as a car but the value of Mercdes is far greater. This is brand value.
WHAT IS BRAND LOYALTY?
Do you know what toothpaste I am using for the last five years-it is Close Up.Though new brands are coming up  in the market but I stick to Close Up only.So in other words I am loyal to this Close Up Brand. In my mind, there exists a value towards this particular brand and hence I am loyal to this brand.
So,I short,a person can be brand loyal if in his/her mind ,there exists a value of that particular brand.
So miss Mahua.so far I believe you have some wrong information regarding brand value and brand loyalty.Value has no relation with price. Brand value does not and cannot only signify monetary value of a product/brand.I might be wrong, but so far I believe I am not.
Bye.

hi! its parag back again after a long gap, actually couldn't resist myself from going into this very place again b'cos its really heating up.
Any way i feel that Mr. Peter , who has started this idiosyncracies and nuisance might feel proud that by just igniting the fire he accomplished a great task, but sorry to say man u have not made yourself any more visible b'cos u just can't sustain the missiles thrown upon by the visitors of this place and u remain in dark, that is m,y fruitful advice as well as a fatherly advice to u b'cos u have been just thrown out like anything by this group.
To others, who are my seniors( may be), please maintain the sanctity of this section  and indulge yourself in constructive and useful discussion without snowballing each other or else please do not enter here(its a request).
As far as Ms Mahua is concerned i would like to take up the matter with u very seriously b'cos may be u r my senior but that doesn't guarantee that u r right and u can simply negate other's statements. First of all u yourself couldnot justify the meaning of the two terms and u just can't call others statements and views wrong.
As far as my knowledge goes:
Brand Value-- is a kind of weightage or recognition associated or given by customers to a certain brand/product, may be taking the example of "Nescafe" of Nestle which is being given a certain kind of weightage by customers(not b'cos it costs much) but b'cos it has developed itself into the psycho of the customers who attach such weightage or value to it.
Brand Loyalty---- is something which is totally different from the previous one in the sense that it is the attachment that a customer has with a certain brand and not b'cos it will cost high and the customer will buy it.customers do not buy a product by determining what its cost is(a brand loyal) but to what extent he will be satisfied with the product/brand.This satisfaction depends upon the value of the product/brand which was built up over the years.
hoping that this epic will come to an end and Mr peter will disguise himself once again and try to build up a new conspiracy as to how to destroy this place.
enjoyed a lot with this topic hoping a new topic will surely come up.
bye and lots of Love for all. ;)

hiya, how r u all ? iam very pleased that young business school students r providing answers to quaries raised by others..it certainly make me feel that iam rapidly getting to be a part of the lost generation(if not the last generation).
and my dear parag,   asking a question is not a crime..and my intention was not to hurt anyone,  ..coomon  parag i ve lot of other things to do,  in this professional world nobody has time to discuss any rubbish thing ( WHAT U HAVE WRITTEN IN UR MAIL, PITY ON U ).anyway, now i felt that i did a blunder by asking that very interesting question...it is one of the best and interesting question i ve ever come  accross, but unfortunately it took a different scenario.. so, my humble apologise to u all.
wish u all the best

BRAND VALUE REFERS TO THE BRAND'S VALUE EXPRESSED IN MONETARY TERMS.WHERE AS BRAND EQUITY IS THE OVERALL STRENGTH THAT BRAND HAS WITH CONSUMERS IN TERMS OF PANETRATION, REPEATUSE AND AFTER SALES SERVICE.

HI PETER,
PITY ON YOU-YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN THE QUESTION WHICH WAS RAISED BY YOU YOURSELF.WHERE FROM THE TERM "EQUITY" EMERGED?THE QUESTION WAS REGARDING BRAND VALUE AND BRAND LOYALTY.SO FIRST YOU DECIDE WHAT TO ASK AND THEN ONLY ASK.
AND VALUE HAS NO RELATION WITH MONEY-FOR MORE DETAILS CONSULT SOME GOOD BOOKS.IT WILL QUENCH YOUR THIRST.
NOT ONLY PARAG BUT I HAVE ALSO  WRITTEN A LOT OF DIRTY THINGS ABT YOU-DO YOU KNOW WHY?B'COZ AFTER RAISING SO MUCH CONTROVERSY,YOU TOOK SHELTER IN THE DARK.

so, what makes you all so proud, kids???? here in bangalore times, a front page photo costs 5k, pay 5k and they will print your snap with an introduction. " upcoming model xyz, blah blah... " so, what's the big fuss all about!!

no offence meant to amlan, though!! it's a part and parcel of modelling career.. wish you a bright future. May your picture come in gladrags....vogue.....cosmopiltan..

Hello everybody,

another good news----Sourav has got into Indian Express in ahmedabad. So things are moving for us,isn't it?
Though Mr. Guest u might say that by paying 5k one can even get into Indian express, isn't it? And for your kind information unlike as in your case, Amlan didn't pay a penny to get the ad. Instead he was paid for it ;D.

What's the problem with u Mr. Guest? Don't u have any other better work than analyzing someone's success....BTW how did u get the info that 5k is required to get a photo printed in TOI? Did u ever try to put up ur's/////

An advice for all " If u can't praise something good, don't ever criticise it".

Yes, we are really feeling good for Amlan. It's great to know abt Sourav also.

Hi, Joey,

nice to know about your view points. But there can't be anything termed as "disgusting" in retaliation and that too retaliating against the posting of Mr. Guest. By the way where were u when the first posting of Mr. Guest using abusive language was posted. Maybe u were waiting for the retaliation??  And who do you think yourself to suggest who should participate in this platform and who should not.
Gone are the days of Gandhiji when the funda used to be--if some one slaps u on one cheek  give him the other. There can't be any ethics in retaliation. And beleive me if not for the limitations of internet i would have shown u Joey alias Mr. Guest what retaliation can be.
And don't u have the common sense  to understand lucid written english. Manisha clearly explained the circumstances leading to her posting and she felt sorry for it too. Actually everybody is not cold blooded like u to overlook abusing statements against one's friends.  Moreover one's place of living has nothing to do with one's using slang language.
So from next time take everything into consideration before giving your unwanted suggestions and if u want to give also give it in time at the very root of the problem..

Above all whenever u see any messy postings immediately report it to the administrator through the link given on the top of the concerned section. Beleive me--immediately it will be removed. I take this opportunity to thank Premashish da on behalf of all for his help. Thank You!!! from Dilse.

Hello and congrats to all participating on this forum...

well i take the priviledge of being the lucky chap posting the 100th post on this forum. So this forum has come of age. Well thanks Parag for taking the initiative to start something great like this. Really thanks to parag,manisha,anirban,rajyashree,dibakar,dipshikha.......and also all non AU-MBA gusts for addressing this forum. We look forward to more from all of you.
Really on this occassion i would like to share some quotes with all of you....which are very dear to me---

"Dreams can often become challenging, but challenges are what we live for." Travis White.
"Success is not something to wait for, it's something to work for."
"The hardest thing in life is watching someone you love...love someone else."
" A true friend is one who overlooks your failures and tolerates your sucess." Doug Larson
"Life is lived forward but it is understood backwards"
"A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out." Walter Winchell

Well i would also like to dedicate the song--"higher" by CREED to all my batch mates...Hope you draw enough inspiration from it to achieve what you aspire for........

HIGHER

When dreaming I'm guided through another world
Time and time again
At sunrise I fight to stay asleep
'Cause I don't want to leave the comfort of this place
'Cause there's a hunger, a longing to escape
From the life I live when I'm awake
So let's go there
Let's make our escape
Come on, let's go there
Let's ask can we stay?

Can you take me higher?
To the place where blind men see
Can you take me higher?
To the place with golden streets

Although I would like our world to change
It helps me to appreciate
Those nights and those dreams
But, my friend, I'd sacrifice all those nights
If I could make the Earth and my dreams the same
The only difference is
To let love replace all our hate
So let's go there
Let's make our escape
Come on, let's go there
Let's ask can we stay?

Can you take me higher?
To the place where blind men see
Can you take me higher?
To the place with golden streets

Up high I feel like I'm alive for the very first time
Up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams
And make them mine

ALL THE BEST!!!
Santanu.

Hi guys,

Congrats to our finance specialist, Dibakar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to see such beautiful postings from Shan and Parag. Lovely quotes as well. Thanks Shan for the song. Hope to hear this song sometimes from you. :)

It's over an year that we have passed out of University, still I feel we are even more closer to each other. That's really nice to be in touch. Hope we'll continue in the similar vein.

Life for most of us in such a position that neither we can go backward and erase the mistakes, nor do we know what's coming up next. So it's better to live today so that in search of tomorrow we donot loose our today. Just a thought.

I 'll sign off with these words...............

Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.

hi everybody,
its said that time and tide wait for none-and today we all are viewing the same.its really hard to believe that its one year we came out of the university.and a lot of changes took place in this one year.but one thing is certain-as we are in touch,so time is passing smoothly.hope this will remain the same in the coming days.
nobody knows what is there for us in the coming days-and we can't change the future-so its better to enjoy the present in the best possible way.

Hi! Everybody
So how's life. Enjoying? Hope so. But i am really tired with my daily's monotonous work load & looking to shift shortly from my present work place as the environment here is not condusive for self growth. This is what i feel-- my relationship with my Boss.......

My Boss & I

When I take a long time……
I am slow
When my boss takes a long time…….
He is thorough
When I don’t do it….
I am lazy
When my boss doesn’t do it…..
He is too busy
When I do something without being told….
I am trying to be smart
When my boss does the same…
That is initiative
When I please my boss…
I am Apple-Polishing
When my boss pleases his boss…
He’s Co-operating
When I do well, my boss never remembers
When I do wrong, he never forgets

Hope others are not experiencing like me :)

Hi everybody!!
what happened...no postings for long time..everybody must be very busy with their careers...but there is need of being in touch as well.
Well if you all are overpressurized here are some jokes for you to relax about...................

1.A salesman walking along the beach found a bottle. When he rubbed it, lo and behold, a genie appeared.
"I will grant you three wishes," announced the genie. "But since Satan still hates me, for every wish you make, your rival gets the wish as well -- only double."
The salesman thought about this for a while. "For my first wish, I would like ten million dollars," he announced.
Instantly the genie gave him a Swiss bank account number and assured the man that $10,000,000 had been deposited. "But your rival has just received $20,000,000," the genie said.
"I've always wanted a Ferrari," the salesman said.
Instantly a Ferrari appeared. "But your rival has just received two Ferraris," the genie said. "And what is your last wish?"
"Well," said the salesman, "I've always wanted to donate a kidney for transplant."

2.A new manager spends a week at his new office with the manager he is replacing. On the last day the departing manager tells him, "I have left three numbered envelopes in the desk drawer. Open an envelope if you encounter a crisis you can't solve."
Three months down the track there is a major drama, everything goes wrong - the usual stuff - and the manager feels very threatened by it all. He remembers the parting words of his predecessor and opens the first envelope. The message inside says "Blame your predecessor!" He does this and gets off the hook.
About half a year later, the company is experiencing a dip in sales, combined with serious product problems. The manager quickly opens the second envelope. The message read, "Reorganize!" This he does, and the company quickly rebounds.
Three months later, at his next crisis, he opens the third envelope. The message inside says "Prepare three envelopes".

3."I'm never going to work for that man again"
"Why, what did he say?"
"You're fired"

4."Do you believe in life after death?" the boss asked one of his employees.
"Yes, Sir." the employee replied.
"Well, then, that makes everything just fine," the boss went on. "After you left early yesterday to go to your grandmother's funeral, she stopped in to see you."

5.Summer is the time when it is too hot to do the jobs it was too cold to do in winter.
OFFICE TIME TABLE
9:00      Starting time
9:15      Arrive at work
10:00      Coffee break
11:00      Check e-mail
11:30      Prepare for lunch
12:00      Lunch
2:00      Browse the Internet
3:00      Tea break
3:30      Check e-mail again
4:00      Prepare to go home
4:45      Go home
5:00      Finishing Time

6.Employee's Ten Comandments
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.
If you can't get your work done in the first 24 hours, work nights.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism.
Keep your boss's boss off your boss's back.
Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.
To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you'll have to catch up.
Don't be irreplaceable, if you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.
If you are good, you will be assigned all the work. If you are really good, you will get out of it.

Hi

I like your adda, though I am not from your uni.  I studied at three universities - Dhaka university, London School of Economics (London University) and University of Kent at Canterbury.  I can see Bengalis are the same everywhere.  Your Swapan Da's canteen reminds me Modhur Canteen left behind in Dhaka.  Have you heard of Modhur Canteen at DU?

It has been observed that mahatagaram is bringing bad conversation by bringinging in Sister first. Also, now it has been observed that he is calling mothers and all. This all indicates how his or her parents is. With the messgae he has posted it fills like he scolds his mother in the same way. He is definitly not from a very good family. There was nothing so bad in Pritam's mail that he should be scolding Pritam by his Sister's name.

Hi Everybody,

This is a request to each and all who is concerned with Silchar and silchar.com.

This particular thread,"Assam University, Silchar(MBA rar adda!)" has been created by one of our friends keeping a specific objective in view. And we all,who have passed out from the Dept.of Business administration,Assam University have in different point of time contributed or have tried to contribute to this thread...after passing out,we are placed in different parts of the country doing various jobs and this place is the best place to keep in touch among us all "ex AU MBA's".

After passing out and being engrossed in the very hectic life of jobs, this place was our centrepoint to place our view,to laugh a little, talk a little, share each other's problems and more importantly to help our friends who are going through this course in different ways and also to try and help in whatever means we could to our friends who have passed out from this course and are looking for jobs...

But,in the recent past all this noble cause have been diluted by a few honourable men, who,i sincerely wonder have anything to do with this thread, site and most importantly us...
They,by their atrocious comments in a public forum have defaced the whole of silchar.

Today, this thread was at no.9 in the main page of maha adda and it always remains on page no.1 of the maha-adda,so i shudder to think what people have thought when they went through those messages...it only gives a bad name to MBA,Assam University in particular and to Silchar as a whole as this site has got a huge and very noble base of viewership all across the globe.

People must understand that posting filthy messages using acronyms only speaks of the kind of mindset that they are having and nothing else...

My humble request to all concerned is to please resist defacing this site as it is our own site and nobody how destructive one may be,never defaces one's own home.

If anybody needs someone's id or address, that can be asked in more honourable means also...

Thanks and Regards,
Raghu.

National Integration Camp
«on: 12/15/03 at 11:12:34 »

For the information of AU Students...

National Integration Camp
(February, 02-11, 2004)
at NIT, SILCHAR
__________________________________________________

Introduction:
The Promotion of National Integration provides the framework for greater exchange and understanding among the youth belonging to different regions of the country. It aims to foster national integration and communal harmony.
National Integration remains a crucial issue in India, notwithstanding the fact that we boast of a civilization, which is nearly 5000 years old. True, some of the divisive factors may be inherent in the history, geography and culture of our country, but there are also forces, which accentuate these factors. Religious fundamentalism is one such force while linguistic diversities constitute another. There are people in this country who hold an exclusive view of religion which drives them into a sectarian frenzy that does not admit of tolerance of other faiths. Despite a shared culture of so many years, linguistic diversities have often generated tensions and conflicts amongst different communities threatening the fabric of national unity. The same holds good for regionalism exacerbated no doubt by inequitable development amongst different regions of the country. The age – old caste system has also contributed in no small measure to weaken the bond of unity among different sections of the society. All the above forces and factors do pose a serious challenge to India’s unity and integrity and, therefore, conscious efforts will have to be made by all concerned to preserve the same. The youth of the country in particular will have to be put in the vanguard of such efforts. The National Integration Camp of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is one such small but significant step in this direction.

Camp objectives:
The camp aims to provide the youth from different parts of the country and from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds a common platform to interact with each other, know each other’s customs and life styles, to work together in community welfare projects and in the process make them aware of the underlying unity amidst diversity. By living together in a camp, albeit for a limited period, the youth would develop better understanding of different perceptions, beliefs, faiths and life – styles, which in turn would strengthen a secular and eclectic outlook on their part.

Camp Activities:
The camp activities are planned for the youth in order to instill in them the spirit of national integration through:
i.      Seminars, discussions, informal meetings, group discussions, debates, lectures, essay and elocution competitions on the theme of national integration and communal harmony.
ii.      Community work, like mass literacy, anti-drug, anti-AIDS, pulse-polio, health awareness and environmental campaigns.
iii.      Reading and learning from scriptures of various religions and books which inspire the promotion of national integration.
iv.      Cultural programmes.
v.      Spiritual discourses.
vi.      Yoga and meditation.
vii.      Work – camps in which the youth donate manual labour to create durable community assets.
viii.      Environmental Awareness Campaign
ix.      Visit to places of historical importance and scenic beauty as well as to the sites of important developmental projects.
x.      Joint participation of visitors and hosts in social developmental projects.
xi.      Participation in regional festivals.

Camp Faculty:
Eminent faculty members/experts/social scientist/parliamentarians from various institutions throughout the country will deliver/conduct the lectures/practical/technical sessions.

Camp Material:
The participants will be provided with comprehensive course material on the issues/subjects related to the Camp theme

Nomination:
The Camp is meant for the youths/students of the academic institutions. One institute can nominate 6 to 10 students (preferably a cultural team) along with the NSS Officer/Staff.

Conditions regarding TA/DA:
The participants will be reimbursed student conseessional second-class train fare, in the shortest route, for attending the Camp on the production of the Original tickets. However accompanied staff is expected to arrange the TA/DA from the parent organization.

How to Apply:
Those desirous of applying for this camp are requested to submit the duly sponsored application in the format enclosed to the course coordinator so as to reach on or before 31.12.03. Selected candidates will be intimated by Post/Fax/e-mail. Selection will be based on the interest of the participants for attending the programme as per Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports norms. The seats would, however, be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

Dates:
The ten-day programme will be held during 09-18 February 2004 from 9.30 AM to 5 PM. However the cultural programmes may be held in the evenings. The selected participants are expected to reach NIT, Silchar by the previous evening or morning before the commencement of the programme.
Last Date of Receiving Application:       31.12.03
Intimation of Selection             :      01.01.04
Confirmation of Participation      :      15.01.04

Accommodation:
Free boarding & lodging facilities will be extended to the out-station participants in the institute guesthouse/hostels on sharing basis. The participants are required to bring their bedding with them.

About the Institute:
The National Institute of Technology Silchar is one of the premier national level institutions for technical education in North East India.
