Are you proud to be a bangali

Give me blood I shall give you freedom", whenever this words of great Netaji comes to our mind, it creates a stream of patriotism and enthusiasm in us and reminds us of the glory of bangla. We bangalis have a great tradition. Great men like Rabindra Nath Tagore, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Swami Vivekananda to name a few are the pride of the nation and the builder of modern India. We don't look downupon other languages but certainly ours is one of the best. It is a great previlege to be a bangali as is said by men of international stature like Amartya Sen, Sourav ganguly and others. We have to keep the cart moving on. So I am creating an association for all bangalis. I requwst you to jpin the group and spread the spirit of Bangla. The words : "Sakal Deshar Rani Seje Aamar Janmabhumi" should be in the lips of all Bangalis throughout the globe.

Vande Mataram!

::) There is no Bangali living in or out of Bengal who will say that he/she is not proud of being a bangali. The question itself gives hints as to what the right answer should be. The question, if allowed to rephrase, should be, "What have you done as a proud bangali?". I am sure there will be very few takers, and the list includes me.

Another two generations and the bangali culture and tradition will be a thing of the past and not even recorded in history books. We desperately need bangali's who, irrespective of where they are, will take an active part in preserving and promoting the bangla flavour and show the world what it actually means to be a bangali. Lots of communities from other regions do this and seeing them I feel sad. But unfortunately the truth is, even if we are proud to be a bangali, we definitely are not active in preserving and marketing the concept of "Bangla and bengal". And that is sad...and that is what really matters...no point sucking on a rasogolla and reminescing on the past. If we are proud, let's show it then...let somebody...anybody...take the first step...

When I was younger, I would have probably said no... I think maybe it's because it was the non-Bengali environment I grew up in... T-T~ It shuoldn't come as a suprise to you guys, but we're not taught Bengali history is English History classes, so what was there to be proud off? As far as I knew, Bangladesh was some far off place, I had only visited as a kid...

I'm not glad to admit it, but my Sylheti is bad enough, and don't even get me started on my Bengali... it's depressing! I do try though.

It's all changed now though. How can you not be proud to be Bengali? ^________^ But I agree with what suvojit basu said. well said.
