Found the follwing in the USENET. ------------------------------------------------------ These alleged "coincidences" always seem to overlook the many glaring disparities between the two men: e.g., Lincoln was born in poverty, Kennedy to wealth; Kennedy's father was a mentor and guide to him, whereas Lincoln was so alienated from his father than he declined to attend his parent's funeral (the elder Lincoln passed away when Abraham was 18 years old); young Lincoln was a physically powerful and strapping youth, whereas young JFK was sickly and often bedridden; Lincoln was subject to periods of profound melancholia throughout his life, whereas JFK (as his close friend and Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee noted) rejoiced in being JFK; Lincoln is one of the greatest American authors, arguably the greatest writer among American political figures (only Jefferson could rival him), but was a mediocre speaker (his voice was high and thin); while JFK was a powerful and eloquent speaker, but relied upon ghosts to compose the books and speeches attributed to him.
Finally, Lincoln had a Secretary of War named Stanton. JFK had a Secretary of Defense named MacNamara. --------------------------------------------------------- I am a born skeptic you know! Those who are interested, you may continue further research in visit http://www.csicop.org/ |

Great work Mr Kanad. The coincidences in numbers were really amazing.
And to you Mr Confused, one of the definition of SKEPTIC I found was "ONE WHO EXPECTS ONLY THE WORST FROM PEOPLE" and its true, your writings make everyone SKEPTIC about you. |

Mr lonewolf,
I am not sure what have I done to earn your wrath. But occasionally I do receive emails from people who appreciate my views. So my way of writing probably don't offend everybody. That number is small but I don't care if my views dont please everybody. I am happy so long as my views appeal to smart people. I leave the job of pleasing masses to the politicians. But definitely don't intend to hurt anyone's feeling either. If I did that unknowingly to you, then I apologize. That was never the intention. I express my views openly and very open about any logical criticism or rational rebuttal. I am pretty honest about posting under one pseudonym too. Please tell me which dictionary has your meaning of skeptic. Because, my dictonary (Oxford) has the following: ------------------------------------------------------------ Skeptic (n) a person inclined to doubt all acepted opinions. (a) a person who doubts the truth of religions. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

A slight correction may be in order. John Wilkes Booth wasn't born in 1839...he was actually born in 1838....so that part doesn't fit into the coincidence list, I suppose. |

Sorry Mr Confused if you think you are a victim of my wrath. Actually I must appreciate you for your amazing contradictions. I think you missed some of the other GLARING disparities between the two EX PREZ.Some of which I am adding from your side. 1)Both had a different name. 2)Both had a different surname. 3)Both had a different father.(I think so) 4)Both had a different mother. 5)Lincoln became Prez in the 19th century 6)Kennedy became Prez in the 20th century 7)..............to infinity As you see there are infinite contradictions. So I think the way you look at the similarities and the discrepancies in the coincidences is a measure of your lopsidedness.
Anyway I dont want to start a FIGHTCLUB here.So I think this must end here. |

lonewolf,
You may have a different opinion. But does that mean that you must pickup a fight? People will have different opinions. That is healthy. We want to live in a free world where we have the right to differ. Not in some communist/fundamentalist society where people are persecuted for their opinion. I suggest we continue this discussion in a civilized way. If you have any decent counter argument that is. Have visited the link I posted? People found more even similarities between some other presidents than Lincoln and JFK. If you want to found similarities then you will find lot of similarities between you and me too. |
