Adhar Chand School er smriti

Though I spent my educational career in 7 different institutions, I miss ACHS most and GCC least. This new thread will give us a chance to share some of our 'smriti's related to ACHS. Please join me in cherishing those golden days.

Punishing techniques -
In class V, half kneel down position with a book on top of head (courtesy our math teacher). Hindi teacher used to pull the 'julphi' in upward direction.....for rest 'beth' was the ultimate weapon.... :-[

Remember that 'fuska wala' with big mustache waited outside the gate ...and 'falguni' ice cream....
How about 'mamu', our chowkidar......
The 50 kg weight in the left corner of the administrative room.
Washing hands/legs near the water tank just before the second session....
Saraswati puja.....assisting Tapan Sir......
I miss all my respected teachers…..I still have contacts with few….

Once my friend Manoj Nandi put his hand around our sir's shoulder thinking I was walking with him....he was so embarrassed when he found it was our science teacher.... :'(

In class IX, I remember applying for a half holiday (backed up by other friends of-course) due to some famous person's death....ultimately our headmaster disappointed us saying that the guy was still alive.... ;D

will add more...so many...cudn't remember now...

Yes, there are too many fond memories of school days.....
Remember Sunil sir saying "halar hala" is not a gali, but "shalar shala" is.......
Remember the achar-wala who used to ask the students "ke anbe..ke anbe ponchis gram toil...achar khawamu....."
Remember our vice principal at that time (don't wana mention names...sorry) running behind one of our batch mates with a beth making circles in Class IX, Sec-A........and the whole class enjoying the scene which remembered us "Nonte Fonter Kando Karkhana".........
Remeber Lambu Madam, Batti Madam.... can't forget Mandakini Madam........

Yeah these days I really miss the ambience of the school. Those happy days....without any tension and deadline and targets....probably the best days of my life.
If I close my eyes, still can visualise Gurupada sir saying "Maakaalasya Maakaal" or the the unique face expression of samiran Sir while beating a student (he used put his tongue out and got the name Loli(pop) ;D ;D.
It hurts when we see the decaying condition of the school today. Can't we all do something for our beloved school?

I spent my last two years of schooling in ACHSS. But that is still fresh in my memory. partha sir er english class asil IX er first period. Those were the initial days.. and Abhi, Rupam, Pritam used to pull my legs so much.. :(

Polu Biswas sir er beth was one of the dreaded things... though i was lucky enough...

I noticed one curious thing - having 'malai baraf' with 'achaar' during the tifin hours... tastes great, is it ? :P

Really that days ware too good...Yes I shall never forget "LOLY POP" :D..
Tar pore abar Sajal Sir.. Boro misti mukhe mar ta betor bari.. abar maje maje "roshikota"...

My favourite Sir was RAM MOHAN Sir.. Class 10 o Bangla porai ta.. I still remember how he characterised "KAK PONDRIT".I loved the way he used to teach. He was our class teacher...in 10th.. I also remember our last class in Adharchand taken by him and he was saying to all of the students "SUNO COLLEGE O JAIBAI NESHA KORBAI.. NESHA RE TUMI ENJOY KORIO KINTU NESHAY JENO TUMARE ENJOY KORE NA.." In the last day I came to know that he was so friendly..

hello friends. amio adhar chand school er passed out. from 1991 to1997. i really miss those days very much. i left silchar last month as i got a job in cts. do you know the fuchkawala is still as he was in our school days. it seems that he is evergreen. mamur chokhe chani porse.
amrar shomoy gurupodo sir e pora na parle mathar moidhey ekta koriya kagojer patta lagai dito. jani na tumrar shomoy kirokom asil. lolipop ofcourse he had a common dialouge" baje kotha koitam ni?" pollu bishas used to hit on the neck with his beth on finding long hair.
raimohon sir was my favourite sir. tan stock e oto golpo asil je koiya luv nai. gof howk jetai howk shunte bahut bhal lagto.
aaaro bahut golpo mone porer. ek kothay amar majhe majhe dukho hoy je shei shob din shei shob teacher rar aador aar beth aar firiya paitam na.

I started my Adharchand journey only from 9. Used to carry an
additional shirt to report to Devdoot and Orientel regularly.

Sh GURUPADA sen is our beloved school teacher of Social Studies.used to wear white dhuti, cooks very well..n has some unique way of approaching / teaching students....nobuddy of PHYSICS re.

Um...Well...Gurupada Sir prob. completed his graduation even before NEHU came in to existence. So there is no chance of his studying in NEHU.

Although there were many rumuours about his lifestyle ;D but undoubtedly I owe whatever english I know to him. He also used to teach Social Studies and Bengali. On public demand he had also taught us 4th paper of bengali i.e. a paer on Sanskrit.

I just remebered a scene from his private tuition class, which is straight out of Shriaknto by Sarat Chandra. As usual we were making a lot of noise, which ultimately got in to his nerves and he entered the class just like, what else, tsunami.

Sourav Choudhury (bechara) was sitting in the first seat from the entrance and sir just snatched his note book and threw it away. He uttered those famous dialogues "Makalor dol, Ota kita natyoshala ni?" For a moment I could not decide how to react, laugh or cry!!

Schhol taar obostha jani kila hoi gese ekhon. Subodh sir er loge dekha hoisil, 2 week agey Bangalore o - sir ager moti asoin. Sir er translation gulay bacahiya rakhse, makaali.

Ami jodi pakhi hoitaam, tomar nikot udia jaitaam. Er dui line translation dui bhabe lekhsilam, ami aar arek joney. Oi dui line e ei tense sara jibon er lagi cover kori laise.

"Amer barota" - 12 line of 12 types of tenses.. ita nishchoy oneker mono ase.

I had also met Jagadish sir when I last went to Silchar. His current physical condition is really bad. Bahut kharap laage taan re dekhley.

Last heard, Tapan sir and Sajal sir are best friends again ;D

Gurupada sir simply was a marvellous cook. After we passed the HSLC he had invited us for a lunch at his home. He, himself, had prepared all the items on that day. Believe me, it was terrific. If he were a woman, I cud have said "Tini randhone Draupadi". Chhele rar lagiya kita bisheshon hoibo, ita loia ektu confused hoi gesi.
