The advertisement world is comprised of many entities, like artistic, intelligent, moron, nonsense..so on and so forth.
You have aptly pointed out the beauties of Amir Khan Ads in Cola. However, please recall the Sony ad, where the Chawl kid bowls to Kapil. What a beauty. I think all of you have liked the Center Shock ad...both of them. Amazing acting skill of the common people [I mean the people who are not cine stars or TV stars] and fantastic composition by O&M team. |

The fevicol ad was the best conceptually in quite sometime...wherein the shadow of a man gets glued onto the shutter of a fevicol shop while the man himself moves ahead...
also another fevicol ad showed lots of people glued onto a lorry as it moves over an undulated road...amazing ads...
the centreshock ads are cool...the second one is a touch better...the one in which the would be father-in-law falls from his horse in the photograph...
the mirinda ad is good as well...the one in which the little guy gets a haircut done from a garden worker
...meanwhile...keep an eye for an ad on OZONE layer depletion...its conceptually very good...it has already appeared in a few magazines...it is on a streched out page...which when you unfold, you find a certain part torn off from the picture of the sky...and through that you can see the message about the depleting ozone layer...fantastic fantastic ad do keep an watch for it...its worth the vigil regards |

Yes, I totally agree about the Fevicol ads. Prior to the glued shadow ad, there was another, showing a typical hindi film sequence, where the hero does not fall from the bridge because a fevicol dabba is placed on the TV. I do not watch TV much now a days, so I have missed the Mirinda ad. I will look for it. The tasteless ads include ones by Akshay kumar for thums up. There was also a beauty, if you recall, before the SetMax matches started, showing a tamil girl doing Rangoli..and chanting vedic hymns in terms of Sachin Sehwag..etc. The abominable magazine ads are coming for United Colors of Benneton. The magazine being in the hand of growing and inquisitive children at home..it is pretty difficult to negotiate sometimes. |

recently there has been a huge huge controversy created regarding the UCB ads...the Bombay Times (a suppliment of TOI) did carry almost one page of atricle, survey and readers' comments on it... Half the respondents were of the view that there was nothing offensive with the ad while the rest were pretty much against it... Personally I feel that if UCB were to take these ads out on niche magazines, for example femina, oiverdrive etc. then there would not have been such hue and cry...however, the reason that Dr. Sharma mentions is indeed true...the ad appears in newspapers, in magazines meant for all people...and hence the children have access to it as well...that can indeed be damaging...
a few years ago there was this ad for tuff shoes from phienix...a reebok product...probably... also there was this ad about a coffee that seemed more like an ad for KS...
as the recent admakers have shown...even the Indian ones...that its possible to create worldclass ads out of simple things...the various international awards begged by Indian ad companies, or the Indian chapters of firang adcompanies, further proves this point...
The most important objective of an ad is to remain in the mind of the prospect and to remain there distinct...in the face of so much clutter... while some admakers do that with crisp and wonderful ads that appeal to the intellectual part of the minds of the prospects, some others actually do it by appealing to the other sensory organs of the human mind...the ad from united colours of benetton probably is of the second type...
anyways I hope we will see more wonderful ads coming our way in the future...and if not the Indian films, the Indian ads surely are creating waves around the world. |

Eitto ! Onek din pore hi-fi adda marar topic ! Someday ektu ghuchaiya ekta post kormu notun thread on my favourite ads. I guess somebody else can start that as well.
Ya..I liked the Coke ads too...even the "aath" one with the kids enacting the earlier "paanch" ad...have to give credit to Aamir for bringing out such different flavours...Punjabi, Hyderabadi, UP/Bihari, Mumbaiya Tapori...
The Pepsi ads somehow have lost their fizz...I didn't like any of their World Cup ads...the one with lion seemed to present our cricketers with too jocular an image for comfort. Also, the latest catch phrase, "What's there ?" doesn't cut much ice. And all though the cheer leader girls in the latest Saif ad ( where the South Indian hawker screams "Paapseee !" ) are good, nobody beats the stunners that graced the swimming pool in the Diet Coke ad aired a few years back :P...remember that ?
Prasoon Pandey's ads always have a very Indian flavour covering a wide spectrum of Indian culture with just a tang of humour and suspense. Recent good ones in memory include Centre Shock and The Times of India ad...also the Air conditioner ad ( Electric Bill, electric bill, very long...) which may not be by Pandey but very much his kind of stuff.
I have been a very avid follower of ads right since my first days with a TV...from the days of "Vicco Turmeric, Nahi cosmetic..." to " Super Panchso Pachpan, Pachpan, detergent tikiya" to " Tata ka OK dhulai ka sabun..."
I think I remember hell lot of jingles verbatim still...and maybe I'll be able to recall a lot many with decent accuracy if somebody' give me the first few lines of ones that I've forgotten.
Most people from Silchar would also be familiar with teh Bangladesh TV ads...come to think of it, there was a time when India and Bangladesh were pretty similar in ad quality. Don't know about the present day BTV but look where we have gone now ! A lot of you would remember " Ek nombor pocha shaban " ;D " Maaser raja illish, aar batti-r raja Philips" " Xi-Pheng power tiller " ( I remember the whole song...nice bhatiali tune similar to the song " Arre O sundoira naaoer maajhi..." )
And how many of you remember the gem, " tumi roj bikele amaar bagane phool nite aaste, jaani na tumi phool na amakei beshi bhalo bashte..." ?? ;D ;D Unearthed this last month while gossipping with a few friends in Kolkata about the good ol' days.
Signing off for today...and Oh yes ! for the first time I kind of like the latest Tata ad...the 207DI ( Mehnat, Masti...baari baari !!! )...not bad considering past ads of Tata Vehicles...never liked FCB-Ulka ( now FCB ) ideas...maybe they are finally listening..but still a long way to go...and had I the power with me I'd have changed Fluer Xavier as the Telco model first day in office...replacement ? Well...how about Yana Gupta draped in Red Chiffon draping a Black Tata Indiva bonnet in 2004 ??? ;D :P ;D |

During 1980-81, TV was not there in the NE, and we used to have dicussions in our MSc classes..animated ones..about the models appearing in B/W news paper, Illustrated weekly, Gentleman and others, as well as in the Ad films before the main movie. Duleep Tahil used to appear for Bombay Dyeing. He also later on appeared for a peculiar ad for VIP frenchies. However..those years I happened to really admire [??? or fell for ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D] a lady called Savita Dhanrajgir. She used to appear for quite a few products. Swaroop Sampat was also a pretty face that time. As jimut mentioned, Sangeeta Bijlani's Ad film for Vico facial product..a Mehandi Ceremony sequence and a post marriage sequence used to generate a lot of winking discussions ;D ;D ;D ;D. |

And how can we forget those weekly Amul hoardings with the Utterly Butterly girl ...
The hoarding in the begining of May, when the Air India Pilots went on strike due to SARS scare, had the caption "Errline Pilots" with a cartoon of the Uttelry girls interviewing a group of IA pilots .... check out the latest one at http://www.amul.com/2003hits/page2.html ... These weekly topicals from Amul are simply great !!! They are not only there for advertisement purposes, but they also make a subltle point. |

Urojahaj marka aalkaatra... ;D ;D Savita Dhanrajgir??...Swaroop Sampat ?? :P Also reminds me of Poonam Gidwani, Lisa Ray and others who used to appear for the stunning Bombay Dyeing ads...
As for Bangladesh, I remembered a few more...usually shown during their "megajin onusthaans" ;D 1.Labonye sharadin, Sibon vanishing cream...lal-la-la-lal-la-la...Manola Manola !! ;D 2.Dano and Red Cow milk powder ads. 3.The bangladeshi film trailors...poor in quality but we took a long time to start showing trailors of newly made films in India. 4."mo" diye maa hoi, ki hoi aar ? "mo" diye manola baby powder ! ;D 5.Melamine bhangbe na, ete daag porbe naa, futonto paaniteo golbe naa, rong noshto hobe na... ;D ;D
Coming back to our own old-time hits, I'll try and type down a few more...hope it revives a lot of old memories : 1.Surf's "Lalitaji" ads. 2.Maruti 1000 with its "you're so like the lady with the mystic smile..." 3.Monte Carlo sweaters which made George Benson so popular 4.Hero Honda Sleek...I was in Class V or VI and used to drool over the bike and the distortion guitar piece they played in the ad. 5.Pepsi's first ever ad, a 90 second monster (with 60 & 30 sec edits I think ) featuring Remo and Juhi Chawla...Are yiou ready for the Magic. 6. The Lehar 7Up Fido Dido ads...returned once again these days. 7.Lijjat Papad...eh he he...eh he he... ;D ;D 8. Nirma, Wheel nimboo shakti, Super Rin ki Chamkaar...baar baar lagatar. 9. Boom boom shak-a-laka boom boom shak...Street Cat's gonna knock you back !!! 10.Angrezi bolchal shikne ka, ek anokha source, Rapidex English Speaking Course ;D |

;D Well well.... There was a time when we used to sigh [..ie.. ISHH amar bhagye jodi tumi thaktai go] looking at the models appearing in movie hall ads or BW news paper ads... it is very encouraging to see that quite a lot of our friends are still keeping track of them ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
One of the ads, not appearing much these days, has created quite a fan circle. It is from a paint company [I forget which one it is]..that says..Wah Sunil Babu..naya makaan..nayee biwi...etc etc.. follwed by BADHIA HAI. That "Badhia hai" has become a "chalta phirta" phrase with proper imitation that is used to leg pull some body buying a new car or getting married.
By the way...Premashish..can you send me a photograph of Jimut if you have one ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) |

The punchline is gr8… hawa lag gaye. The girl does a nice act. In terms of concept I am totally tired of seeing things happening around the product/product logo/hoarding of the product. Fevicol, Kelvinator, Glycodin, Mak lubricants (eeeeks!!) and now Onida... so only hindi filmwalon nahi....even the intelligent adwalas are also repetitive.

Dear Krishanu...
I don't know which time period you-re talking about but perhaps you are looking for the line, " Food, Friends and Thums Up ".
There was also a bengali version which went , " Bhoori Bhoj, Addar Mouj, aar Thums Up".
Roughly at the same time, you also had from the erstwhile Parle stable, " Gold Spot, the zing thing ! " and " Fun time, Limca time, Lime 'n lemony Limca...Limca Limca !"
I am also reminded of another two cola drinks that were there for a few years in the late 70s to the early 80s... One was DOUBLE SEVEN to celebrate the ouster of Coke and the landslide election win of 1977 by the Janata Dal...
The other was one for which they had newspaper ads, hoardings and also a spot ( probably featuring some lesser known bollywood starlets) showed in cinema halls...you might recall, " Hum tum aur THRILL, chahe mera dil "
As for the Vigil ad...
Tandurusti ka sabun Vigil Parivaar ka sabun Vigil Iski keemat...(DilipVengsarkar asks " Mehenga hai ?" to which Manali replies, " uh-huh " )...kuch bhi nahin... Zyada din tak chale ye Vigil !!!! Khush ??? |

Arekta kita "chup chup baithe ho, jaroor koi baat hain...." ni? amrar mono achey mastor or baarit giya inncocently gaanta gaoat aslum ar erporey jey shob feedback paislaaam...
if we are talking of print ads, then Trikaya Gray used to come up with stunning B&W ads.
Dis anyone mentioned the "Liril" ads and their models from 70's till date? Something for what Padamsee can be justified as "GOD". and there was a jingle (think coined by A R rehman) for Asian paints, still comes up during the diwali time "khushi ke rang laye ye ghadi....." great one, catches up with the diasporic community.
And recently I liked the ad this lubricant... (the name not popping up) where a cycle overtakes the truck .......... |

silcharer maaiyan has mentioned about this Becardi...let the ball roll....ok..these are some ad slogans form Becardi's mastuto bhai biradori.
Seagram's 100 Pipers---There are two kinds of people on earth. The who's who. And the who's he.
Seagram again---The power of consistency. The strength of maturity. Glen McGrath. Truly Royal Stag.
Johnnie Walker---"I am a slow walker, but I never walk backwards." Abraham Lincoln
Foster Beer---An official sponsor of Grand Prix
McDwell---The weather outside shouldn't ruin a perfect evening
Now now...i believe i am walking thru the danger zone...pls dont perceive me as liquar savvy (even tea is no no for me).So here is another slogan from another liquid product.
Tropicana (fruit juice in a non toxic way)--The taste of good health. ;D ;D hic hic ???

Remember the Ad for Niki Tasha, gas stoves: "Anything is possible with Niki Tasha Kitchenette"
Or the Ad for Bajaj Bulbs: Jab me chota bachaa tha bari shararat karta tha. Jab be chori pagri jati tab roshni tha Bajaj.
Ab me bara budda hu, goli khake jeeta hu. Ab jab be chori pagri jati, tab roshni hota hai Bajaj. (I am not sure about the last two lines)

Aab mein bilkul budddha hu Goli khake jita hu Lekin aaj bhi ghar ke aandar twu twu twu twu twu Jab roshni hota bajaj !!!

I do not think that is FREE publicity...its a tried and tested way of promoting a product in a movie or teleserial...there is infact a name given to such advertising types...but let us not get into jargons...dreamz unlimited must have charged a hefty sum from pepsi and santro for the purpose. |

As far as I can recall, the ad featured both Aishwarya and Mahima Choudhury.Mahima is the girl who knocks at Amir's door first, asking for a Pepsi.Amir,on finding the refrigerator empty, rushes out in the rain to get the Pepsi for her.Aishwarya knocks later and Mahima says "That must be Sanju". "Hi..I am Sanjana..got another Pepsi?".Remember? |

new fairness cream ad has hit the market.
fair & lovely ad was being banned by ministry of infromation and broadcasting....because it undervalues the women....sensor board questioned comments like, "kash mera bhi ek beta hota." in the fair & lovely ad. is girl child so unwanted? And ad agency glamourises the concept. so the ad is out. the new ad is in....where the girl wants to be a mandira bedi...a cricket commentator......
India is probably the only country where fairness cream has such a big market. |

Well, I don't see lots of Indian ads these days but I remember one from my childhood days that really inspired me a lot. That was 'Bullet mera jaan monjilon ka nishan' - ads of Enfield bullet 350 motorcycle. That was my childhood dream bike but although today I drive a BMW car I still can't think of driving a Bullet. Some while ago, came across a lecture made by David Ogilvy, the great ad-man. There he said something like this ...
When the rest of the advertisement world runs out of ideas , they look up to Wall Street for inspiration, When Wall Street runs out of ideas, .... well modesty does not permit me to give the answer. ;D
Whatta class, whatta confidence!!! .. Surely the man who began his career with the 'Hathway Shirt' campaign knew how to sell :):) |

talking about ads, let's talk about the common indian's ads-
the AAM JUNTA(common indian) was made immortal long ago by Surf's ad-"Lalita jee..." Now also AAM JUNTA rules, the black and white ads of Aaj Tak...........but yes only Coke and Aamir(directed by Aashutosh Gowariarkar of 'Laagan' fame) could have created the magic.......good strategy of taking over the AAM JUNTA's word for cold drinks-"thanda" then the TOI's ad is also good work...... recently, I saw one ad(should I call it an ad ???) that was about respecting and saluting our national anthem.....once again AAM JUNTA was fantastic there..... |

Hey truly speaking, the print and the A/V media are suffering from lack of ideas.....just watch the pathetic motor bike ads and fmcg ads....only few are good enough to be talked about.. like the adhesive ads....pakre-rehna...chhorna nehi and pizza- kiyoki iske andar chhupa hai maaaal! and cloromint...bhaisaab, hum cloromint kiyun khate hai?And the Aaj taak ads really make sense. I adore them
But now listen to the FM ads.... Susma thande ka biprit batao, mirchi! tinke ka bahubachan? Jharu!!!! ;D ;D

The new coke ad with Amir Khan is quite good although not as good as the rustic Amir in the earlier "Yaarada Tashan" ad. My personal favorites have always been the Amul topical billboard ads. I used to wait for the new ads to come up in the billboard at the Premtala point. These one liner ads on a recent topic are simply superb. I can recall a few of these like - on Laloo - "Fodder of the nation" on Enron - "EnrOn or Off" on CAS - "Pareshani Ghar Ghar Ki' on pesticides in colas - "Adult aerated drinks' etc. etc. You can get a complete list at the http://www.amul.com/hits.html |

just responding to new aamir khan coke ad
Why would anyone carry cold drinks in such a cold weather? Also, 'thanda' never means a fruit juice like Frooti, it means other cold drinks. Everything else is fine including Aamir Khan.
The ad is warm and not thanda. |

:)U have got a point Shaan.May be they have used a cold weather and hill station just to inject into the minds of tghe usre group or the consumer that Coke can be taken during winter also. A strategy for the coming season. But very weird though. They have got AAmir, no sense they need. The same ad could have been shoot in different location. ;D ;D ;D Now there another ad is in. The lubricant ad which smoothens the activity of the machine in a car and the car moves silently.....I forgot the name of the product.!!!!sorry. But the concept is good.A man reading news paper resting his back on the backside of a car.He changes his position to pick up something infront of him. As he leaves the car, the owner moves the car away. but the person reading news paper could not hear the sound and falls down as he spreads the paper to read and wanted to rest his back on the car which no longer was there. :D :D |

WHY MAXIMUM INDIAN MINISTERS ARE OVERWEIGHT?
The answer is simple: They do not work and eat on others. They only wants to become Ministers to make more money through corruption and keep rest of the working class people poor for their own advantage. If you agree, please write your thoughts.

The basic concept is faulty for this Bolero Ad. To a nature lover, it would be appalling to see a machine making so much sound that peaceful trekkers/ walkers have to wonder where this sound is coming from or what is creating such a loud noise. Sorry to sound very critical, but the idea itself is reflective of the creative myopia that fails to consider the basic idea of a "getaway" - peace, i.e., away from the maddening city life (read noise). I think it is a great disservice to the brand that Bolero stands for. |

'Great ad. Engaging, thoughtful, true to its category, well shot, nice music. Congratulations to the entire team at the agency and at the clients end. Being a satisfied Airtel user it's the first time that Airtel Ad has spoken to me and that should make everyone at Okhla Mandi sweat.
The best thing about this ad is the recall. People might have too extreme opinions about this ad but they do remember the ad (hey guys, isn't an ad suppose to achieve the same and let's wait for the sales numbers for the same time period). Airtel guys keep it up!
On the flip side, I was amazed to see the faulty Airtel's logo at the end of the commercial (the white box is bleeding outside). The company and the agency doesn't look like interested in changing the logo even after 3 weeks of release. It's amazingly very poor quality. I don't expect these faults with brands like Airtel! |

People are asking after Reliance will it be the end of GSM?
But I think No.. it's not the end of anything.. Reliance will be there as just another player.. it will take years for them even to reach the level of BSNL. GSM has its own advantages (as of now) and Reliance can't beat them. I don't want to change to Reliance from my GSM. I may go for another connection from RIL but won't change my present number!! So.. everybody is here to stay and everybody will survive.. Reliance India Mobile is not going to do wonders as reported widely in media.. It's just a hype!! wait and watch!! |

Well they all said that TV would kill the radio but it didn't. They said the Internet would kill TV. It didn't. WLL is a new technology and will definitely be a step-up over GSM, but it'll take some time to catch on. We don't even have all the cell services offering MMS as yet. We should probably see what the new technology's like before we kill off the old one. |

About the streaming version of this new COKE commercial,
:D Settling comfortably into a restaurant with her family, a lady tells the waiter, "Haan shaubo ke liye thanda lau to." But she's immediately stopped by her husband, "Aeye no thanda." When asked why, he explains, "Usme gadbad hai. Ooyi log bola na." refusing to take his logic she questions back, "Kal ooyi log bolega baal katna kharab hai, to?" Answering back with equal spirit, the husband says, "To pura phamily ko hippy banyega aur Howrah bridge pe up down kareyega." but the wife, not the one to give up so easily, again asks, "Koyi bolega baath karna kharab hai, to?" To this our bengali babu replies, "To muh bando karke ghunga ghoomayega." Ready with her next question, our Coke defender immediately attacks, "Koyi bolega kapda pehenna kharab hai, to?" This time losing his patience completely, he shouts, "Kapada utarke nanga..." but checks himself in time. Calming down, he warns his wife, "Aey Bindu, meshi bog bog math karo. Log boltha hai, are they phool." But Bindu is not easily put down and replies, "Aeje, matha use karo matha. Shau shaal purana company hai. Do shau country main log thanda peetha hai. Are they phool?" Fed up with the argument babu moshai shouts, "Arre baba laboratory main test hua hai test." Bindu however has an answer for this too, "India, Netherland, England, shab ka laboratory main test hua hai. Bola hai ok hai, fit hai. Pher?" looking temptingly towards the Coke bottles, he finally says, "Pher hum khud test karega." With this he starts drinking from his Coke bottle, but to everyone's amazement, he gulps down the other three bottles too." Reving emptied the bottles, with a loud burp and happy smile he gives his stamp of approval, "Thanda hai." But his wife doesn't find it funny. Trying to please his wife, he now starts singing, "Aey meri mishti Bindu, aey meri choutpoti Bindu. Main maan gaya sach, sach hai teri baath... ...tu mujhe thanda pelathe, tu mujhe handa pelathe." Soon the whole crowd joins in, "Thanda matlab Coca Cola, thanda matlab." :) ;) :D PEPSI To view the streaming version of this commercial, click here If you are experiencing problems viewing the streaming TVCs, click here Entering a lift, Sachin smiles and greets someone standing inside. The someone turns out to be none other than Kareena and Fardeen. just as the lift closes, a waiter rushes in with a bottle of Pepsi. All four of them wait patiently for their floor to arrive. Suddenly the lights go out and immediately a guzzling sound is heard followed by a burp. As the lights come on the waiter suddenly notices that his Pepsi bottle is empty. Suspicious, he turns around to look at Sachin, who seemed relaxed without a trace of guilt. Next he takes a look at Kareena and Fardeen, who seemed to be in a world of their on. By now thoroughly confused, he once again looks at Sachin. But this time Sachin points towards the actor duo. Having figured out the culprits, the waiter now smiles smugly at discovering their secret. But just then the lift opens and two workers walk in, one telling the other, "Aey chotu ja tu Kareena ko utha." The workers lift up the mannequins of Kareena and Fardeen and walk away, even as Sachin and the waiter recover from their shock. Fardeen and Kareena are put on display beside a large Pepsi glass, while... ...Sachin, with his secret out, continues to stare at them with a sorry face and the waiter at Sachin. :D ;D ;) |

Telecom is a different ball game.... it is not like a factory where you get the machines & start production.... It has taken 6 years for GSM to give the service which we are getting today.... yes I do understand the technology but it is not possible to give service from day one like coverage etc..... Also, please note which company of Reliance deals with customers directly. It has been at the back end all through other than Vimal. We all know the state of the product......and dealing with customers directly is no joke especially for a company like Reliance which does not have any experience at all.... It's only hype. Let's wait & see what is it that they would deliver..... |

:DTHE cellular subscriber base in the country has crossed 19.35 million, with an addition of over 10.80 lakh customers in October 2003.
As per the latest estimates of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the regions in Circle A continued to account for the highest subscriber base at 70.22 lakh, followed closely by the four metros at 63.49 lakh subscribers and Circle B at 51.43 lakh subscribers. Circle C continues to be far behind at only 8.37 lakh subscribers.
Among the operators, Bharti continues to be the single largest mobile operator accounting for 48.62 lakh subscribers. Bharti is also the single largest operator in any one single circle, having bagged over 12.48 lakh customers in Delhi.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is the second largest single operator accounting for 43.78 lakh subscribers followed by Hutchison at 33.58 lakh customers. Idea cellular is the fourth, with 19.75 lakh subscribers, followed by the BPL group with a total subscriber base of 13.33 lakh subscribers.
Amongst the operators who logged in most additions in October, BSNL leads with a tally of 3.67 lakh followed by Bharti at 2.45 lakh and Hutch at 1.35 lakh. Idea cellular could manage to add only 0.77 lakh additional customers. :) Source:agencyfaqs.com |

Why would they want to focus only on the moment of parting? How depressing. But the visual and look of the ad is at least more contemporary. But what exactly is the promise? Earlier VIP ad touched the technical aspect & this ad is perfectly emotional. This ad touches all the relations one has with mother, father, wife and son.
Is anybody remembers previous vip ads |

last night was reading an interesting article on advertising & branding. it was actually the bt-debate held at b'lore. mr. das ex. head of p&g india referred to a joke while concluding his statement. its abt a family, which viewed itself as a business - the father 'capital'; mother 'management'; child 'future' and the maid 'labour'. one late night the little kid woke up to find that this is one heck of a business. the management was asleep, the capital exploiting the labour and the future stinks.
well this little joke has no direct relation with ads. but in the same debate, mr. das remarked that an ideal ad is one which even appeals to the deaf (e.g. the fevi-kwik "chutki me chipkaye ad"). and one more thing you can't build a gr8 brand out of bogus product or service just by out of the world advertising. example? watch around urself and u'll find plenty. |

Why did Bajaj use Mr. Jackie Chan for this bike? Can anyone give me a right reason? Is it because of TVS using Mr. Sachin Tendulkar and 'imported' cricket players? Is it because of Hero Honda using Mr. Hritik Roshon and desi cricket players? Is it because of LML using Mr. Sharukh Khan? Is it because of Yamaha using Mr. Saif Ali Khan? Or is it because of Kinetic using Mr. Kapil Dev?
Compare the earlier ads of Bajaj: - hamara Bajaj (the rangoli one), Pulsar (definitely male), hoodibaba, wind biking costs, creative execution, idea etc. and you guys will see what a waste this ad is.
Bajaj had never used celebrities in their ads, they always depended on Hamara Bajaj. All these companies are trying to cash in on a celebrity now days. They don't want to talk about their bikes. They have just flooded the market with similar kind of bikes by just changing the name and celebrity every month. Hope Honda will never come to this path. Honda has always relied on technology and not on show business, they never do advertisements on large scale. Indian companies are not learning from it. Instead of using foreign technology they use celebrities. They don't want to put their money in true R&D, they just invest on celebrities. Anybody listening? |

I dont see any reason why the present Bajaj is inferior to its predecessors. In fact I find the ad funny. Jackie Chan has an international appeal and as now Bajaj is looking at tapping the overseas market, this "Last Temptation" ad is a pretty good one. Infact, their Tag Line has been changed to "Inspiring Confidence".
Its now pretty obvious that themes like "Hamara" 'n "Be Indian Buy Indian" will not cut much ice these days and so, Bajaj's latest ad series I would say is pretty well planned. |

On the theme of Christmas and starring polar bears....it shows....that polar bears form a pyramid....reach for the sky....pul down the moon....and then with the moon opens and drinks coke....what an idea! |

Read it to know how Advertising influenced a lover... :D
My dear FAIR and LOVELY ( ek chand ka tukda ),
You are my TVS SCOOTY ( first love ) and my AIWA ( pure passion ). I always BPL ( believe in the best ) and you are SANSUI ( better than the best ). You are DOMINO'S PIZZA ( delivering a million smiles ) for me. This is a COLGATE ENERGY GEL ( seriously fresh ) feeling for me. :D
I want you to be my life partner but I think you are worried about your father who is KAWASAKI BAJAJ CALIBER ( the unshakable ) and my father who is CEAT ( born tough ) :'(but don't worry as I am also FORD IKON( The josh machine) :-* and rest of our family members are pretty KELVINATORS ( the coolest ones ). :-/ If they say no, we will run away and marry and PHILIPS ( let's make things better ). ;) They will feel MIRINDA ( zor ka jhatka dhire se lage ) but I believe in COCA COLA ( jo chahe ho jaye ). ;D
Trust in God who's always NOKIA ( connecting people ) who love each other. :D And we are WILLS ( made for each other ). Now that HYUNDAI ( we are listening ) the song of love, you must know that love is DAIRY MILK ( real taste of life ), SATYAM ONLINE ( fun fast easy ) and PARX ( always comfortable ). :-*
So never forget me. Ok bye!
I wrote little but PEPSI ( yeh dil mange more ).
LG ( digitally yours ) :) ;)
