At least tomra shobai desher puja dekhe moja korbai. But, aami ach porjonto desher puja dekhi nai. :-[ :'( Ek baar attempt nichlam, kintu, aamar boro maa naa korlen, "khub beshi gorom, tui shoyjo korte parte nai". I have heard so much about Puja in India, but one day I will go no matter what at Puja time.
The other problem is that here, the children go back to school in September after their summer break, so its difficult to get time off from schools. Now that they are grown up I have the same problem, 'who is going to cook their food'. :P
Anyway, maa Durga will be merciful to me one day, and I am waiting for that day. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy my Puja here, even though I have to drive some 30 miles to the next city to pay my 'darshan'.

Your predicament didibhai, is the same as Ma Durga's. Even she has got four kids (none of them are school going, though), but she still finds time every year to visit her 'Baaper Baari'. Just try once to follow her footsteps, and come hither, no matter how, Ma Durga has been seen to come down on a boat or a steed or an elephant... in a nutshell, everything that moves.
Just give it a try once, all of us who are staying back in India would make sure that you have a nice time. And in any case, the way you handle your home plus magazines plus message posting, I refuse to accept that you are any less than the true godess. |

Since 1995, I have not prob. enjoyed Puja properly. Because up to 2000, I sort of sleepwalked thru the days. ;) ;) Since 2000 I find it more encouraging to actually sleep thru out the puja. ;D ;D |

Thanks for the invite and inspiration. I shall be visiting India sometime next January or Feb 06. Amar ekta manushik 'Durga Puja' ache kintu 07 er aage shombhov hobe na. Just waiting for my son to finish uni.
I recall my parents stories of 'Puja'. My maternal house especially, where 'Choudhury barir Puja', the lavish 'Khatham' and 'dholer bari' as my mum tells me. Just the way she describes it makes me want to go and see. Of course, after my grandfather passed away the annual 'Stapito' Puja custom went with him. All my mama's celebrate this individually in Silchar.
But I will be there hopefully in 07 and enjoy it to the last minute.

Last year had a bad experience during Durga Puja train got cancelled, traffic jams near shillong due to accident and if you are travelling with your wife and a small kid it is nightmare. But when from distance you hear dhaki playing

you forget everything.
Abar Durga puja alo, kintu Mon Mane Na, Mon je bola, Cholo jai abar.....
What about you people ? Are you all planning to visit Silchar during Durga Puja this year.
If the answer is "YES" then how about a gala party of all the members at a common place at Silchar.

this is my first ever post in silchar.com...so it might take a bit time and encouragement to get along with seasoned players like you... ;D...
mon_aami e idea ta kintu bhala ou disoin...ami last puja silchar jaite parchi naa...buke boro bedona laagse... :(...eibaar miss korar echcha nai...jodi silahar jai, get together hoi taile ami sure jaimu...
get together ta jototuku informally hoi toto e bhala...karon sob er e limited chuti thake, tai kunu dhoroner arrangement er jhamela na thakle e bhala...i vote for some mondop preferably ambicapatty chourangir mondop...between 2-5pm...saptami...this place is very cool and will be least crowded at that time... my 0.1 cent. |
